<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>Year One of the capture story is finally at its end! This was quite the ride for me to write, and I'll need to take some time before continuing I think. I'm also not sure I'll have a middle, but I absolutely will have an end. Maybe I'll use TP for middling a lot, probably easier that way lol.
Anyway, I have two stories on deck already that I've written while editing this that I'll post soon. One of them is a fun one that Roidh helped inspire. Another is a true life situation that I decided to apply to Shelby and I think it came out well. The fun one first though, I think I need it after this.
Even I find it a little comical that I'm so invested in a character. Yes it's my character, but why am I upset when I write that something bad is happening to her lol. I don't know! This story has been in my head a long time now too, it's not like it's new. The situations are similar to how I originally conceived them too so... well whatever. I hope everyone reading enjoyed it, that's really the goal in the end.

She's been around a while! I'm glad you liked the conversation piece, it was a fun way to go over a lot of her history and oddities. I still have some tricks up my sleeve though, I haven't given all the cats secrets away lol.

Indeed! A lot, but not all questions answered lol. I mean that particular thing makes perfect sense in my mind, especially when you start considering the situation.

I’ve had the same thoughts about that in my universe with the kitsune, dragons, and the few other immortal species. At least they don’t have the issue of unaging infants or your children dying before you (ok, well the kitsune do but their life cycle is weird). Still the idea of an ever growing family is another total headache.
Aw... That's the one thing I don't like about immortality is the eventual loss of love ones; poor Shelby.

Oh I'm definitely playing up that immortality is a bad thing overall. In my younger days I didn't really think about it that way, but now that I'm an old lady, I absolutely do. Immortality would probably be a lot of bad, and very little good.
No need to apologize, I totally understand. As Shelby even says, it's something that even she didn't consider at first. As we keep saying, being immortal isn't fun and certain things need to be considered.

Ooh! A Shelby Q&A incorporated into the plot! How fun and interesting to get to learn all these details about how Shelby came to be the feline she is today.
I would think the question about power or fame would be relatively obvious: more fame in her name might have led to this captivity scenario occurring much sooner in her life if her name got out there.
I still question what is running through these doctors' minds when they ask Shelby, an immortal that they've captured and detained for over a year now, to cooperate. Do they not know what the word 'empathy' means??

A group of people trying to crack her secrets so that they can use it for their own purposes might be thinking differently than she is. I would also say no, they don't have empathy, which likely helped them get the job in the first place!
