The problem is than fairness is not a word in fairytale folklore
You made a deal and you realise it end up bitting you ? Too bad, you agreed to that.
Heck even the devil is not spared from theses kind of shenanigan if you manage to bullshit your way through scamming him.

But the point here is that Virmir isn’t obligated to do something that was NOT included in the contract. If the fae don’t like it, they *could* just do away with Virmir, but that would defeat the whole purpose of creating the contract to begin with.
If the fae just wanted Virmir gone, then they would have “treed” him before he could sign the contract. Right now, Virmir is probably transforming *because* of the “life” he’s supposed to replace, in the contract.
If something goes wrong in this process, like a miscarriage, Virmir won’t be able to fulfill his end of the contract. The fact that the fae are going through this “story” implies that they can’t be all omnipotent, if they can’t “completely” control Virmir into following the plot, or speed up the process instantaneously.
If they could, they’d probably do so already, to avoid needless complications.
