So yeah this is what i had been trying to make for years here. Thanks to
Flanowa and
Wolger2579 and My Mate it finally got started.
Yeah you can totally see the liner for the pool that we used to make it. the pool liner box was a lie though and it was only 5 feet across not 8... so the little bog is another container. very little of the plants have established but it should look fantastic as they do and get bigger.
i still need a bit more rock and mulch and some more planting around it all as well as planting in it and eventually the Koi go in. it is pretty darn deep. so they should LOVE it.

mmm oh here it is P: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueG5ZqDHC6g sorry for the bad quality vid <,<
Well the best way to do this would be to get some potted water plants so they will not get sucked into the water pump. say like miniature cat tails http://www.thewatergardenshop.com/mincat.html
or bog lillies http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=767+774+1182&pcatid=1182
or Umbrella plants http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=767+774+806&pcatid=806
They suggest with some of these plants to repot them in gravel so if ti tips over or whatnot it does not foul the water with dirt. this is pretty easy. the plants then not only make the water fountain look even more awesome but also filter the fish wastes. as it is Guppies can tolerate and even thrive in some seriously shitty water. but the plants will help
Also adding red lava rock into the pond gives a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize which will also filter the water. in fact you may wish to use some of that in the repotting of the bog plants
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/......cfm?c=767+774 here is a fairly nice list of awesome plants for in a bog type setting. which is basically submerged pots for you.
I will be getting some normal sized cattails for my own soon. and possibly digging a smaller shallow pond elsewhere in the yard for more bog plants since my own plans went wrong.
