"Am I swimming against the stream or what?!"
Ok, I know i'm not the best swimmer even as a coelamon but it was getting oddly long without seeing some kind of a break in the cliff or flatter land. I come up to the surface for a bit to make sure i'm not off course but sure enough, the buildings are still in sight of me, just barely visible in the morning sunlight.
While the pain in my foot had gotten much better over the night, it was still something that I could see slowing me down even more if I was to try and drag myself over the steep and rocky terrain as if, well, the rest of me wouldn't have been a challenge enough. Going with the flow, literally, was my best bet.
I dive, swim, surface, check, then dive to do it all again as I go to keep myself on track. As I surface once more, I just manage to see something out of the corner of my eye. It was only for a moment as something splashes into the water just a bit away from me, it was large and must have came from off the cliff. Wait! If it did and it was another digimon, then that might mean that they know how to get on the cliff and thus around it! I make haste over to where I last saw them, the water's ripples dissipating as I get there.
As I dive, it doesn't take long to see what made the splash as a red bolt of a Muchomon flowed effortlessly through the blue waters around it as if it was flying through the blue skies instead. I try and get their attention. "Excuse me! Sorry to interrupt there, but I was hoping that you might be able to give me some directions!" I say, hopeful that they might know a easy way around the rocky barrier. They zip over, startling me quite badly as they swoop under me then upwards to breach the water before coming back down in another splash and letting their momentum carry them in a lazy arc. "Directions? Go with the flow!" They say, keeping their pace as they then start to swim loops around me. "Haha! Just messing with ya there! What are you looking for, friend?"
"File City. I was hoping to find it by swimming around the cliff here. " The Muchomon looks at me, then over to the cliff. "Good thing you found me then or you'd be swimming off into the ocean long before you got around this! And what further luck that I was just making my way that way anyway! Isin't that something?" He completes another loop before darting into the deeper waters, only stopping to look back to me and wave his wings. "Come on, come on! Wasting good daylight!" "Ahh, thank ya, thank ya!" I say, as I follow after him. I certainly was lucky to find him if so, I have no clue about the waterways around here since, well, just a few hours ago I was more of a terrestrial mon. At least i'll learn this part of the waters so I can come and go from the city as I please later on.
I follow the Muchomon deeper into the depths as he continues to dart away then wait on the much slower fish that is me following him, staying in constant motion all the while. I wish I had his agility, I was pushing myself just to keep up and he was making it seem like I was moving as slow as a glacier. At least it looked like it didn't bother him one bit as he would just continue his holding pattern until I got close enough before moving on.
Hoo, i'mma have to work on my swim speed or something after all this. Well, someday, anyway.
Shiny water effects! Kinda went overboard with 'em but had a lot of fun just messing with them here. So much so that it even ended with me making a custom texture to use for scale pattern shine and shade so should be using that plenty soon.
Also, this is the last of the fully prepared pictures i've had of this series so the pace of uploads may slow down a fair bit as I work to finish the others.
Coelamon, Muchomon, Digimon, Digimon world 1 and decode belong to Bandai and Toei Animation. Lu the sluggish coelamon is mine.
