"It's gone?!"
It's all I can burble out as the sight before me sinks in. Towering skyscrapers, large stores and warehouses just... sunk. When did this happen?! What was all those stories about a city that so many were coming back to? Was it a lie? Did someone spread a rumor and nothing more? Why was it the last memory I had if... ugh, my head. It's all a bit overwhelming as my stomach finishes twisting itself into a knot. "Gone?" The Muchomon says as they float next to me, giving me quite the look as if I had a horn sprouting from my head. "Hmm, the waters are a bit murky today but I can see it. Maybe you should get a bit closer?"
"No, not that..." I say, trying my best to suppress my disappointment. "I see it, even if I don't wanna."
"But you seemed so excited to see it! What's turned that grin into a grim?"
"I kinda expected the place to be, ya know, not sunk and functional?"
The Muchomon nods "It has been awhile, many awhile since this place was all lit up I hear. It must have been amazing back in the day before it sunk! I even heard that it was even more grand and built than New File City is now! They say digimon came from all-"
"Hold on, did you say "New File City"?" I say, the knots in my stomach becoming butterflies instead at hearing that.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah! They built the new city before this one sunk! Thus, New File City! Sounds like they wanted to keep the memory of this place or something with a name like that."
"There's a new one?" My heart leaps, does this mean?!
"Oh, there is!" He gives a small, excited gasp. "Are you not from the island here? Ooh! Which one did you come from? Folder continent? We get many who come from there or the other islands who think that the old city is still here!
"Do you know the way to it?!"
This one took awhile, it was actually one of the first I started along with the one moment in the game that got me wanting to return to this series. Seeing the old Village of beginnings/File city sunk and realizing just how much time had passed in game and that this was indeed the same island as the first game was a bit of a surprise that's for sure!
Played with multilayered effects here. Reflections off the water's surface, and a haze between each layer for a far away feeling. Not quite what I wanted of it but it got real close!
Coelamon, Muchomon, gomamon, Digimon world 1 and Decode belong to Bandai and Toei Animation. Lu the newly hopeful coelamon is mine.
