Creator Notes 3: A Major Overhaul, and Some Explanations
I can barely believe the amount of stuff I found myself doing, while I was creating this and the 4th entries. The latter of those 2 might already be in my gallery, by the time you're reading this, but I would not get used to this upload frequency, I were you.
The classic and modern eras were, at first, going to be showcased in one entry, but I decided against it, so that I could better show the respective purposes. Frenormerrec's current purpose is mostly unchanged, and I'll cover that in more detail in the next entry. As for the classic eras, I wanted to go for a bit of a semi-opposite approach to Frenormerrec's current purpose, in order to provide a reason why that purpose is 'Non-Formulaic' (and by extension, why the two most frequent activities are relaxation, and using anti-gravity to some form of extreme). As a result, I ended up going for 'mostly untweaked linearity', hence the activities shown in the image itself. Also, I like how the region that allows for both frame viewing, and relaxation helps to show that the characters do like some of that original purpose, even to this day.
At some point, during development, I created a more organised, and easier to use inventory of parts that features different versions of the motifs currently used. Getting the district closer to feeling alive and professional, was another major priority of mine, and I think that including some visual effects is one of the best ways of doing so. Plus, I thought the gravity stones, or whatever I decide to call them, eventually, helped to add some resource related lore to Grapparrell. I made sure they wouldn't distract too much from the rest of the scenery, but I also wanted them to still be noticeable, and still briefly draw some attention. By the way, the visible times of day were actually something I had included, by the entry 'A Fictional District Being Given Form', but I did make some improvements, so that (for example) the sunset would be more pronounced, overall. Overall, I think the visual effects have already helped the development process to come a long way.
I wasn't joking when I said I ended up doing a lot, and as for the other things, I guess I'll start with my profile overhaul. I was balancing the continued creation of Frenormerrec with this, because I didn't feel like drawing too much attention to my Furaffinity page until said overhaul was complete. Seriously, have you seen my previous set of profile images? I think my previous avatar image looks a bit creepy, and feels forced, my previously displayed profile image feels somewhat off, if you ask me, and while I still think the banner that I had previously shown has a cool factor, to some extent, I don't think the surroundings, or the pose I was making, at the time, reflect my personality all that well. Besides, I thought a redesign of me (Sezarotec, of course) was long overdue, anyway, due to the problems I believe I've already mentioned. At least it's all been dealt with, now, though.
Anyway, the other thing I thought would be worth mentioning is what was probably the most pronounced reason for the complete overhaul of Frenormerrec. I thought the version shown in the 2nd entry was too big, for something that's meant to be part of an equivalent of an urban location. Plus, there were some things I either didn't like, or thought didn't fit. For those reasons, I found myself restarting the whole district. Well, it was more like a new attempt plus, since I did keep a few things, and, of course, utilised them for the version shown in this entry. Also, despite that partial reset, it didn't take long for me to, at least, define every region that isn't a set of routes, a place of residency, or part of something I plan to include after the rest of Frenormerrec is complete.
Well, I believe this is the part where I conclude what I'm saying, for now. By the way, I'll make sure the next entry is more direct. I just felt like there were some things that were worth explaining.
