Well, looks like Milton the Manager did not make it home while driving in the big snowstorm, and he got his car stuck in the snow bank on the side of the road. This is some more concept art from my upcoming episode of the Fort Coyote Motor Inn Motel where a major snowstorm comes through in the winter, resulting in the motel being very busy with guests when interstate 90 is closed across all of South Dakota. Milton just wanted to get home and enjoy the football game on TV, but it looks like he is going to be stuck here for a while.

I had been thinking about a blizzard episode for a good while now, as severe snow storms have caused at least a few interesting stories that inspired this case. Mainly being the closure of Interstate 90 during severe blizzards. When I worked at a motel in Minnesota just off the interstate as a teenager, frequently in the winter we would be fully booked up with interstate travelers who were forced off the interstate when the state pulled the plows and shut the gates to the interstate, hence why it would fit in with the story of the Fort Coyote Motor Inn Motel.

Personally, I have been impacted by interstate closures due to blizzards when I lived in South Dakota, both times resulting in last minute stays at different motels along the interstate in South Dakota. Last minute stays at a motel due to weather definitely has a liminal feeling.
