Aww she's very cute! (it looks like a female but I can't see the throat very well) Great shot, considering those guys move so fast!

I'm pretty sure you're right; it's a female. There's no red on the throat at all in any of the other pix I took.

Chupacabra er... Chupaflor!!

Its just not as scary.

Though they can be unnerving when they buzz around you trying to feed off of the flowers in your hair. ( actualy happend to me )

Brassy little suckers, aren't they? As near as I can tell the only thing that perturbs them is other hummingbirds.

Really quick exposure time, plus a profusion of nice, direct morning sunlight. :3

Very nice shot. I think you used a very short exposure time to get the wings so sharp ;)

Very quick exposure, but I think what really helped was the early morning sunlight and the bright blue sky in the background for contrast.

Nice, Stitch! how'd you get that pic? Did you use a fill flash to freeze him? Hummingbirds crack me up. they are.. VIOLENT little guys. I've watched more hummingbirds beat each other up for a spot at the hummingbird feeder than you can.. uh.. shake a dead cat at!!!

As near as I can tell, the only thing that makes a hummingbird angry is another hummingbird (they're kind of like cats that way).

Nope, no flash fill... the morning sunlight was enough to provide all the contrast my camera needed.

I think it may have been 1/2000, though I wouldn't swear to it. Yah, I was really pleased with the way these turned out. :3

Thanks! I can't really remember now what I was set at, but my best guess would be somewhere around 1/1500 or 1/2000 shutter speed. Can't remember the ISO now at all, sorry... low to mid-range, apparently. :P
