*** The Great FAWD Hiatus of 20/21 Continues... ***
...And shoulda mentioned that there *is* a hiatus before now, drat it.
Yea verily, circumstances are a bitch. A number of them converged back in
Nov, and the FAWD's been [sorta] offline for a while.
As in, no updates for a while, although the FAWD's still here and
alive. All the list pages are still lookin' spiffy 'n pretty. Just a bit dusty.
Not catastrophic or Covid-19 circumstances, BTW, just a @#%$&
buncha them crowding in at once. Time not wasted: Have made much
progress on multiple things that needed some progressing. Maaay be able
to restart the FAWDish propellers by mid-March-ish. Maybe.
Got good stuff to dish about. Biiig report is accreting, chock fulla
entertainment value. We shall see. Yes, we shall see.
Truth to tell, 's kinda feeling like more of a relaunch than a restart.
Well, propellers, hamster wheels, gerbil-powered rockets: Pick yer
metaphor for what drives the FAWD, it's all good. :- )
For the rowdy relaunch celebration party, we'll see if the cute fantasy
polar bear girlfriend can be persuaded to do the standard G-string-clad
sexy-fur-stripper-jumping-outta-a-big-cake schtick. Whaddya say, dear?
(As usual, she's reading over my shoulder right now).
<Growf!>. Trans: Just try to hold me back. Yummy icing alla over my
fur 'n boobs? This is a problem? <Giggle>.
Mar 2/2021.
(NB: Cute fantasy polar bear girlfriend, wha? See past FAWD journals for
snickers 'n enlightenment.)

PMs. shouts: Cool. Email: Better. How-to: See below or the FAQ-Ruleset. TY.
>>> IMPORTANT: The FAWD was built to the Classic UI, and will look... odd under the Modern UI.
Easiest--and only--fix right now: Switch temporarily back to Classic UI. Batshit-lotta hacking work needed
before a Modern UI FAWD makes it to the launch pad.
Aside: The FAWD's an opt-out system. Ie., A listing happens, a Notice PM goes out to tell you, then
you decide if you wanna stay listed. Whuffo this way? Because the FAWD has no staff, nada, *zero*
staff [or resources] to handle the work needed to run as an ask-first/opt-in system. Objections to alla
this shall be read as volunteering to help change things. You've got money? Oh wow, that's great. :- )
Nota Bene: 'Owned by'= NOT part of FA core, or connected to Admin, or run by Admin. Been a spot
of confusion about this. Out, Spot, out. Nota More: The FAWD isn't an archive, or is 'curating' anything
(like a library would). The FAWD is not, repeat definitely *not* a 'bot. It's the straight fact that you
posted story/poetry work that matters, to give you a listing, not what's in those posts.
>>> ULTRA-CRITICAL POLICY POINT: Gotta have *some* type of work posted to read--story or
poetry or whatever-it-is--to be listed. FAWD rule #1; isn't any others. PS: Artist Type--meaning if you're
an artist, writer, musician, photographer, Martian, whatever--is not a factor. 'S the stories or poetry
that matter--written by you--not your 'job title.' Posts of other fur's work: Nuh-uh, no listing.
A listing is automatically dropped if someone's gallery is empty of stories/poetry. Ought to say this
here, not buried in the FAQ. This behemoth updates on Fridays, 10:00 AM EST, mostly.

●● ●● Grave goods for a much-loved cat? Well, a lotta tears for a start.
●● ●● Tobacco, coffee; She knew the smell of both. Water, kibble, a spot of

●● ●● alone, Scamper.
●● ●●
●● ●● Last, a snip from a certain blanket. Wherever you go in the dark,
●● ●● Scamper, [symbolically] you will be warm. Annnd it took about ten
●● ●● minutes, at this point, before I could finish the burial. May have left my
●● ●● heart in there too. <Purrr!!> Not much left of it by now anyway.
●● ●●
●● ●● And is there a FAWDish takeaway here? Yes, believe there is. We're all
●● ●● [furry] writers in the room, folks, with great unstoppable powers over
●● ●● words 'n time 'n space 'n the fate of the [fictional] Universe. So: *Use* that
●● ●● power. Care for the ones that love you. Love the ones who care for you. To
●● ●● the limits of your heart. And put alla this into words. And if the readers pick
●● ●● up on it, and take it up, good. In fact, that's the point. You're getting it,
●● ●● you're getting it, God murmurs.
●● ●●
●● ●● Yeah well f**k, allow me some rage re. Your methods. Since a pretty
●● ●● cat is dead, who never deserved such suffering, and I've got a heart to
●● ●● spackle back together. Reaf spiffy, God, and... <Growf!>
●● ●●
●● ●● Oh. It's the cute fantasy polar bear girlfriend again. And as awesome
●● ●● sexy as she is, I detect some mysterious ways afoot here too. Has to be:
●● ●● She's making a hot black G-string look like funeral/mourning wear. Plus the
●● ●● black choker on her neck. As usual, I think she's been reading what I've
●● ●● been typing.
●● ●●
●● ●● <Growf!> Trans (Softly): I'm so sorry. Saw her with you, and no,
●● ●● they're not sentient like us, but maybe sentient enough for love? What was
●● ●● our first clue? Oh, and if anybody comes at you with that 'Circle of Life'
●● ●● crap, send them to me and I'll eat them for you. She was a predator, I'm a
●● ●● predator, you're a predator, and all predators--and all prey--know how
●● ●● much Disney bullshit that metaphor is. There is only Life. There is only
●● ●● Death. And the bright, bright line that divides them. There are fools who
●● ●● think they will never cross that line. Or more foolish, that that line can
●● ●● somehow be transcended. There is nothing more to say, or any more
●● ●● meaning to it than that. In pain and suffering--no other way--now Scamper
●● ●● has crossed that bright line, and... um... okay, now he's crying all over my
●● ●● boobs, sure didn't see dat coming. 'S all right lover; they're waterproof. :- )

●●●●●●●●●●● ABOUT THE FAWD: ●●●●●●
●●
●●
●● The objective here is to build something that looks and acts like an
●● Author's Name card catalogue. Every library has one. Now so does FA.
●●
●● Re. the big link tables of letters, click on a group (ie., GgG), and you're
●● at the list--writers or poets--of names that starts with that letter. List
●● entries look like this:
●●
●● username Jun 14, 2007 Writer Species
●● CM TD ->NEW —— 10 ALL 5 GGG 2 MMM 3 AAA
●●
●●
●● Username takes you to the writer or poet's main page. The date is the
●● user's join date. Artist type is next, then species (copied from the user's
●● main page)
●●
●● CM or TD flags that a user takes commishes or trades. ->NEW
●● indicates new work's been posted.
●●
●● ALL, GGG, MMM, and AAA are search query links. Same as an ordinary
●● search, they retrieve a writer or poet's work, general, mature, or adult-
●● rated. The numbers indicate how much work is posted.
●●
●● Num/Other is an extra list section for usernames that start with non-
●● alpha characters. A very few usernames are non-searchable; they're
●● marked. See the FAQ-Ruleset.
●●
●● Every list page has a link to this help file: LIST PAGE HELP
●●
●●
●● NOTA BENE:
●●
●● You can't fave a main page (which this is). You can fave the duplicate
●● copy of this page. Go to: 〉〉〉DUPLICATE MAIN PAGE
●●
●●
●● TO FAQ-RULESET 〉〉〉
●●●●●●●●●●● NAVIGATING THE FAWD: ●●●●●●
●●
●●
●● Each list page has a copy of the letter link tables above (for Writers or
●● Poets). Library card catalogues are sorted alphabetically. So is the FAWD.
●●
●● Meaning you can get to any part of the Writers or Poets list with one
●● click (and switch between the two sections).
●●
●● ∕∖
●● Each page has these buttons: || Prev Page Next Page ||
●● ∖∕
●●
●● Use these to scroll one page up or down through the list pages.
●●
●● Most important, a 'Map Page' system has been installed. Check a map
●● --a graphic of a list page showing names--click a link, and you can go
●● directly to any list page in the FAWD (and find any writer or poet fast).
●●
●● Each page has links to take you to the maps. Or start here:
●●
●● ≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣
●● ≣ ≣
●● ≣ MAIN MAP PAGE ≣
●● ≣ ≣
●● ≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣
●●
●●
●● Extra-Extra: As of Oct 23/12, each list page now has a small table of
●● page links. One click, and you can jump to any page within a list section.
●● Much needed feature; now works.
●●
●●
●● Special Extra: There's *also* the List Index pages, which are an
●● alternate navigation tool. Think of the Map Pages unrolled and laid out in a
●● table--Writers pages and Poets together--meaning you can essentially
●● browse the whole FAWD in a glance.
●●
●● Index is index (like maps, a link is on every list page). Or see here:
●●
●●

●● Re. The Listing-First-Wout-Asking Thing:
●●
●● Enquiring furs wanna know [about this], and it's a fair bet you're one of 'em. So wrote up a short
●● piece to explain all, mostly, and--ran out of space--it used to be here on the main page and plainly
●● readable by all.
●●
●● 'S still plainly readable, just now takes a <Click!> to get at it. and your paw's likely on a mouse
●● at the moment. See here:
●●
●● How The FAWD Deals w. A Listing -- A Short Article
●●
●● That said, unusual project is unusual [for FA]. This bit of, er, unusual-ness is in part inspired by
●● a precedent set by FA itself (ie., the way the watch system works). There will be opinions about this;
●● shan't be dissed. Still, barring a bat-shit ton of resources, people, and $$$, it's waaay impossible that
●● the FAWD could operate any other way.
●●
●●
●●
●●
●● Nota Bene: There's been a practical spin-off from all this work, a small search query technique
●● that's bigger than it looks. See here:
●●
●● On Doing Up Folders (Of A Kind) On FA - Enhanced txt
●●
●●
●●
●●
●● Information section below is information: Short notes about how the FAWD works. Or enough to
●● put you on your footpaws so you can use the FAWD. For moah, see the FAQ-Ruleset, esp. article #1.
●●
●●
●● All messages or questions please send to: FAWD.V1@gmail.com . FA will not be used [much] for
●● comm traffic about the FAWD; could mean overload. A 'message tag' system is in use. See below, and
●● FAQ article #3.
●●
●● This is not a commercial project.
●●
●● (Yes, Gmail = Touchy privacy/anonymity questions. Got some fixes in mind for this [maybe].)
●●
●● There are seven important points to note about the FAWD:
●●
●●
●● - In the New Writers/Poets list above, the names are chosen at random, since there's no way to pick who
●● should appear on the main page. Random will have to do.
●●
●●
●● - Sphinx, FA's search engine, deserves kudos. To build all this, it was put to unusual use to scour the FA
●● DB for all story/poetry subs. Usernames were plucked from the mountain of HTML pages thus returned
●● Worth mentioning; Tails have gone <Foof!> wondering how this behemoth got here.
●●
●●
●● - Getting listed is automatic: Post a new story or poem. The Battle Plan: Scan the FA DB every Friday for
●● new writers and poets, and/or on-the-list people with new work. Then update everything that doesn't move
●● fast enough.
●●
●●
●● - ***MEGA-ULTRA-IMPORTANT*** A message tag system's been built into Gmail. An email doesn't have
●● a tag in the subject line (Ie., [fawd-add]), the spam filter eats it. Burp. (Voreish of Google, hmmm?)
●●
●●
●● - To be removed from the FAWD, place [fawd-del] in an email subject line AND your FA username. After
●● quick procedure to verify identity (if needed), it's done promptly. Note that: No reason required, and no
●● questions asked. See FAQ article #5 for more information about this.
●●
●●
●● - To comment about the FAWD, send an email with [fawd-comm] in the subj line. Comments sent by PM
●● or shout or sub comment will still be responded to (if possible) but Gmail could prove easier.
●●
●●
●● - With emphasis, the FAWD is *NOT* an archive, and no work is copied to the FAWD galleries; a ghastly
●● disastrous idea. Search query links are used instead. See the FAQ-Ruleset for details.

poetry or whatever-it-is--to be listed.

●● ●● non-starter, but put the idea on the committee agenda, plz?
●● ●●
●● ●● Grave goods for a much-loved cat? Well, a lotta tears for a start.
●● ●● Tobacco, coffee; She knew the smell of both. Water, kibble, a spot of

●● CM TD ->NEW —— 10 ALL 5 GGG 2 MMM 3 AAA
●●
●●
●●
●● >>>> LIST INDEX PAGES <<<<

This bit of, er, unusual-ness is in part inspired by
●● a precedent set by FA itself (ie., the way the watch system works). There will be opinions about this;
●● shan't be dissed.
