Okay, Anonymous Writer (aka
Tricky_chimera) here. (Though, i'm still going by Anthony.) KCR's writing partner and friend. Duel World is an environment created by Thelostone found here: (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8517780 )
I liked the idea, so I'm going to try my hand at it too, if that's alright. Just like my partner, I'm going to start off in one section of the park and move on from there. I've also altered my characters names and species a bit to help hide my own identity and help give me "cheat" at having to create completely new characters.

Clash in Duel World
By Anthony Anonymous Writer
P1: Rocky’s Storytime.
In another world, there exists alternate versions of ourselves. Some are people we dream of becoming. Others are what we fear of becoming. This particular world is neither of those (necessarily). The world you’re about to enter is a fun filled world where the children’s card game of Duel Monsters is a hell lot more popular than anything else in the world. A place where big hair actually means that you’re important and short hair means that you can only hope to cheer in the backgrounds. This is… sort of that world.
Welcome to the Duel Monster’s Theme Park, known as Duel World
A happy place to be for those that love to Duel, or just have fun in the sun. Yes, this immense theme park houses all forms of attractions based on the popular children’s card game, Duel Monsters. Humans and Furs of all origins can enjoy anything and everything that is imaginable in a happy. fun, and (usually) safe environments that make up Duel World.
For this story, we’ll take a look at four friends who were spending their winter vacation while stationed in Duel World’s own Starter Deck City. However, to understand this tale, we must gander in the night before, during the time entire fractions of Duel World are closed due to the late hour.
Only nocturnal furs and humans would normally be up and about at this time. Even the staff had shifted to those that were naturals at night. Within one of Starter Deck City’s many (but few unmonitored) alleyways, a duel had just ended, but not just any duel. A duel that was shrouded by darkness. Even if one could videotape the outside, only the current participants could see and ever hope to remember what was occurring inside. One of the participants of this Shadow Duel, a rat furry, fell back from the final attack that brought down his ‘unstoppable monster’. He fearfully tried to crawl away, but dark shadows wrapped their way around his legs as he tried to escape. Dragging him back in he screamed and kicked uselessly. The winning fur’s duel disk vanished along with the remainder of the ‘holograms’.
“Tsk tisk tisk,” the victor ginned a toothy grin, “you know the rules of a Shadow Game very well, don’t you Mr. Mouseypants?”
“No! Please don’t,” the rat pleaded, “don’t do this.”
“And just why shouldn’t I,” the other fur’s brown eyes seemed to glow in the dark as he walked up to the rat, “You challenged me, I won, you lost and that means that you have to play the Penalty Game of my choosing.”
The rat screamed as loud as his lungs would allow, but no one outside of the dark veil could hear him. The Shadows swooped down, swallowing him whole. Followed by silence, only the winner was still in that dark alleyway. He stepped forward to pick up all that was left of the rat… a single dark crystal pendant that seemed to flow with a purple mist trapped inside and a colorful storybook. The winning fur frowned as he placed the crystal necklace in his pocket, the book under his arm as he left the alleyway.
Nine o’clock AM… The first of the friends, Marshal was waiting for the others at a clock in the middle of the plaza of their hotel. Marshal was a black cat fur. He was wearing long sleeve shirts and a woolen hat to hide a scar that was on his head. His furry ears flicked as he waited for almost a half hour for the others to arrive. He triple checked his bulky and oddly shaped watch.
“Where the heck is everyone?”
“I’m here,” Trina, the second of these friends arrived. She was also a black cat, but she was clearly female. She had long hair that she kept dyed purple. She was a bit chubbier than most girls, but she didn’t mind that. Trina was far more athletic than most girls she knew. She huffed after coming to a stop, “Sorry, I’m late. Someone pushed all the buttons of the elevator. I had to run down three flights!”
“I can’t believe it,” Marshal put a hand to his head, “Rocky can be so immature.”
“Rocky? No, I mean literally,” Morgan rose up from her knees, “it was some Pokémorph kid. I thought that Rocky was with you.”
“I thought that you were watching him today,” Marshal pointed at his friend.
“Okay, let’s not panic,” Trina stretched her long body, “maybe he’s with Arthur.”
“Hey guys,” a young orange-haired, emerald scaled dragon walked up to the other two furs. He had two large wings. Even though he was fourteen, he was far too afraid to ever use them. He was wearing a black hoodie, but was wearing a baseball cap over his hair. His horns protruded through a pair of holes in his hat. He had a pair of glasses rested on his muzzle despite that his ‘ears’ couldn’t hold them. The dragon’s long tail flicked, just barely higher than the ground, “Have either of you seen Rocky?”
“He’s not with you,” the cats looked at each other, “oh no…”
“Then Goldilocks said, ‘this one’s juuuust right!’ so she laid down and went to sleep,” Rocky the rottweiler read out of the book to the group of young furs left in the Shine Palace. He snored loudly to imitated the mouse fur in the storybook. This made many of the children laugh. It became no surprise when Marshal and the others found him there. It was Rocky’s specialty to entertain children like this.
“I’m sorry if he was any trouble,” Marshal signed the proper paperwork for taking ‘lil’ Rocky’ out of the daycare.
“Not at all,” the caretaker dressed as Mystical Elf waved her hand assuringly, “Rocky’s been such a good influence and he’s been reading that story like a big kid.”
“Yeah, big kid,” Marshal laughed uneasily, he knew that Rocky was the same age as him. The rottie was the runt of the litter, so he never grew to the full size that Rottweiler furs usually grow up to at his age, or at least not yet.
“The children absolutely adore him,” Mystical Elf smiled assuringly.
“Then Papa Bear said, ‘Somebody's been eaten my porridge.’,” Rocky said in a deep voice as he continued to read. The children laughed at Rocky’s impression of Papa Bear. Marshal decided that it be best to let the pup finish reading the story at least. Rocky slowly turned the page before he continued, “And Mama Bear said, ‘ROOOOARIRIGGAANAANANANANA!’ cause Mama Bear was Hungry… ”
This noise that came out of the canine’s muzzle sounded like a pterodactyl trying to hack up a hair ball the size of a miniature Chihuahua. It frightened some of the children and even a few of the passing parents. Mystical Elf was used to it by now.
Marshal suddenly changed his mind.
“Has he been reading that book like that all morning,” Trina gave a look of extreme concern.
“Pretty much,” Mystical Elf shrugged it off.
“Na awe,” one of the unafraid three year-old lion furs stated, “dat’s not how it goes.”
“Well can you read,” Rocky asked, the children shook their heads ‘no’, “Well, that’s what it says…”
“Okay Rocky it’s time to go,” Marshal put a hand on the pup’s shoulder.
“Awe, but Marshal, I wanna know what happens next,” Rocky snapped the book shut as he got up to follow his friend out of the daycare. Along the way, Marshal would swear he could hear this crinkling sound, but he couldn’t place his finger on what it could have been. When they reached the counter Mystical Elf stopped them.
“Now Rocky, you don’t need a change before you leave, do you?”
“No thank you, Ms. Elf,” Rocky smiled at the nice lady, “I’m still dry!”
“He’s wearing a diaper,” Marshal slapped himself in the forehead, “why are you wearing a diaper?”
“Everyone else was wearing one,” Rocky pouted to himself, “Why shouldn’t I be allowed to have one too?”
“Because…,” Marshal groaned to himself, “ugh, never mind… So long as you don’t use them okay?”
“Of course not,” Rocky crossed his arms before he continued past the counter, “I’m not a baby, guys.”
“Hold on. May I have that book back,” she asked kindly as Rocky handed it over. The three of them left to meet with Arthur. Both Trina and Marshal hoped that they wouldn’t have to explain why the sixteen year old rottie was padded up. Curiously, Mystical Elf flipped through the pages to the spot where Rocky had stopped reading, “Hm, what do you know? It really does say, ‘rooooaririggaanaanananana’…” She flipped through the pages a bit more, she became more concerned when she noticed that Goldilocks seemed to be crying on every page.
“Okay, so where to first,” Arthur took a look at his map, “This place is huge, but it’s still only Starter Deck City. We have the whole island to explore if we want.”
“I want to head to the Forest to see if I can find Shien’s Castle of Mist,” Trina pointed to the listing, as the Castle itself wasn’t on the official map.
“Why would you want to face off against the Six Samurai,” Marshal asked, he used to use their deck for a little while, “you hate facing their archetype.”
“I don’t,” Trina spat, “I want to see if I can find any ninjas to duel against. I need some new cards for my deck.”
“Well, it sounds like fun,” Marshal turned to Arthur, “what about you?”
“You know… I would like to visit the Secret Village,” Arthur pointed to it’s location on the map, “see if I can challenge my brain with a few Duel Puzzles.”
“Didn’t yo bring a puzzle book with you for that?”
“Yeah, but they’re all solved already.”
“You solved them all,” Trina was impressed.
“No…,” Arthur glared at Rocky, “someone wrote all the answers down before I got a chance to read them.”
Marshal was generally impressed with his friend. He knew that Rocky was smarter than he let on, but still…
“I got bored on the ship,” Rocky shrugged, “Hey, can we go to the Sogen? I wanna see if I can fight this Fred guy.”
“Fred? Who’s Fred… oh,” Marshal remembered the monster his friend was talking about, “It’s pronounced Freed and he’s called the Matchless General for a reason.”
“Freed? Was he trapped somewhere?”
“Never mind,” Marshal covered his face with his hat, “So it’s agreed then, we’re going to the Forest. Now, I guess the most important thing now is…”
“Who’s watching Rocky?”
The pair of cats and dragonoid looked at their mutual friend. The three of them had lost track of who was supposed to take care of Rocky. Sure he could take care of himself, but there have been reports of missing people on the island lately. Rocky’s trusting and carefree disposition would make him the target of whoever is kidnapping the duelists. Just this morning, they were passing a poster of the latest of vanished duelists, a rat furry who used a Cyberdragon deck. He didn’t look too friendly, but he was a confirmed victim.
“He’d scare away the ninjas before I get a chance to duel any of them,” Trina glanced over at Arthur.
“Well, he’s not coming with me,” Arthur crossed his arms, “I’d like to test my brain power, not my fire power.”
“What does,” Marshal paused to think about it, “Oh right…”
“He’ll solve every single puzzle before I get the chance and then I’d roast him from irritation,” Arthur explained anyway, “I do not need a murder charge on my claws before I’m even eighteen.”
“I changed my mind,” Rocky interrupted pointing at the map again, “let’s go to Hero City, Marshal!”
“Hero City,” Marshal shifted the map over a few times, his eyes widened at the description alone, “WHOA! Mechanical Advances, New Technologies! It’s a total Future World! I wonder how they’d feel about the Holodisks that I invented. I’ve just got to go!”
“That’s why I wanna go,” Rocky smiled to himself. He liked making his best friend happy after making him worry so much this morning. Besides, Marshal needed the most protection out of all three of his friends.
