Ligers are from male lion/female tiger parents.
male tiger/female lion hybrids are called Tiglons.
both ligers and tiglons are mostly infertile.

Don't know about moral code (though it seems that their boss lady might have the more decent moral code compared to her mother and sisters. That's not saying much.) but they do have a strict legal code (that they are quick to find loop holes and work arounds when it comes between them and gold coin).
Legally I would think the baby would not be owned as they are not "slaves" but indentured servants under a debt contract. The loop hole to that is he can inherit his mother's debt and be forced to work it off- which is also legal.

Which would be a lot. He is essentially born into slavery while not being born into slavery. I think the most Boss Lady will do/can do is insure that mother and child are not separated for as long as she (Boss Lady) can get away with it. If she even does that.
Will be interesting to see that conversation between Boss Lady and her Mother.

Male Lion x Female Tiger = Liger
Huge, much bigger than their parents. (up to 900 lb)
Male offspring usually infertile
Female can be fertile
Male Tiger x Lioness =Tigon or Tiglon
Same Size as parents (~400 lb)
reduced ferility but not infertile
So if Esha's junior's father is a Lion, he will be a Liger.
And I hope he will be a huge one, to kick ass.

If my suspicions are right, that little baby boy is going to get huge! Ligers are very big kitties.
I read the whole comic from beginning up to page 12 last night. Overall, it's an excellent piece of work, worthy of a read and definitely worthy of whatever price you're selling it at. A lot of love has clearly gone into this and as the comic proceeds I can see you ironing out some problems with your art style. It's great to see. Your characters and world building are strong and engaging.
I don't normally go for "too much realism" in furry stuff as sometimes it hits the uncanny valley for me, makes the expressions hard to do or read, or characters of the same species look 'same-y.'
Early on in the comic this was a problem for me. A lot of well drawn, but stiff faces. This isn't so much of a problem anymore. As time went on I think you got a lot better at adding just enough cartooniness into the characters to make their faces read better.
Something that still crops up occasionally though is a flow issue with your panels and garbled text bubbles. What I mean by that is that sometimes it can be hard to tell who is supposed to be speaking first and where the reply is because of the placement of your text bubbles. This happens a few times and generally during very active conversations. It is generally a good idea to keep whomever's speaking first highest and more towards the left if there is an in-panel reply as it just helps the eye of the reader to track better. Occasionally too I have gotten confused as to which panel is supposed to be next, and have once or twice needed to read an entire page, then piece the panels according to dialogue. This doesn't happen very often, but I figured it was an issue I had so I may as well mention it for consideration. If you'd like me to actually go further in depth, I can try and find the pages I'm talking about.
I understand that the first book and such has already gone to print, (good show on that!) so there's nothing that can really be done there. It's more for highlighting any pitfalls to prevent them in future.
I really look forward to seeing this story develop further, and when I'm able I certainly plan on adding it to my book collection. Your hard work is paying off. :)

Curious... the "sorry I ragged on you for getting knocked up" and the liger baby.... does that mean these guys can only reproduce with their own type and hybrids are not possible? (sorry if I'm being dense) I guess in a way that makes sense or there would just be a mix of crazy hybrids and no animals we would recognize given a long enough time period. Makes birth control fairly easy for the girls too. :P
Also.
DAWW.

I think it was mentioned in response to a similar question on the previous page - only real-life hybrids can occur. So a fox and a wolf can't produce a pup, but a wolf and a dog could. I would suspect that these guys had no idea a lion could actually produce a cub with a tiger, and there must be some kind of house rules or guidelines at least for protection if servicing a compatible species. Just my guess from what we've been told so far.
I'd like to apolagise to all for being an ass and stretching the table,
I wasn't tryin to be an idiot or annoying.
I dont really comment much and I'm still learning about this stuff.
again sorry, it wont happen again.

Man a Liger. And so every1 knows. I hav been doing some research. And in asia they hav found a few Wild Ligers. In the few areas where asian lions live they hav cross bred and ligers can breed. They hav found a few ligers tht had other liger parents. So ligers r not like mules. They are furtile and cn breed in captivity and in the wild
