Commission for  backlash
The bad-luck fairy (just a term of mine--he/she's not really a part of their world) is in a mischievous mood today, melting some of those snowbanks across the shoveled sidewalk and then re-freezing the water. Someone forgot to throw down some salt, or those calcium somethingoranother pellets that leave a greasy-looking wetness behind long after everything else has melted and dried up.

Now, a flat soft-rubber soled shoe might actually work fairly well on ice, what with maximum ground contact and all, but making a mad dash across it in pursuit of a bus about to leave its stop fairly easily negates this supposed advantage. Lucky for Zak he's somewhat hard-headed. Still, that's gotta sting a little :)
