I just want to say that the Red-breasted Merganser in this photograph is hard to see because she was far away and I don't have great zoom on my camera and because she kept diving and swimming a lot. It is absolutely NOT true that if I took a clear picture of this duck, it'd be obvious that she's just a mallard painted up to look different. This is an actual duck that isn't a mallard. Different species and everything. Completely different situation than photos of bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster.
