In my pleasantly inaccurate initial tracklist, the song in this slot was going to be called "Risk and Reward", but again taking inspiration from a friend, its eventual title came from an offhand comment that
susi made. (His artwork will strike a chord with anyone who grew up at the end of the 80s!) Combined with scenes from one of my typically abstract and unsettling dreams, it turned into another god/power song, maybe in a slightly more sinister vein compared to before. Or perhaps it's just gibberish. I want to leave the specifics very much open to interpretation!
I had a go with some more effect and rhythm based bits and pieces here, which didn't come together quite as I expected but not badly enough to leave them out entirely. The solo is also a little unusual, with a couple of key and time changes in the middle, and during the vocal section in the middle I had a go at trying to sound like Heavenly, who I mentioned in the commentary for the previous song - I love the sort of Amstrad-like synth that they sometimes use in their music.
As the last section sounded like it was past the end of the main song but wasn't really full enough to get a song to itself, I've sectioned it off as a bit of an epilogue under the title "Promise". I originally wrote the tune for this section all the way back in the year 2001, in one of my many experimental MOD files - it's revived here with lyrics quite close to the original ones I'd imagined, which took some inspiration from Iron Maiden's signature track.

All right, I'm slightly better now, so I can add that I absolutely love the heavy percussion in the very beginning--the filter is nice too, but it's that gigantic booming...kick drum? with a slower but still omnipresent pace compared to the rest of the drum work, that really does it for me.
I'm not exactly sure what it is either - it's under the file name Dr_Lead in my instruments folder, and on its own it just sounds like a sort of really heavy mechanical pounding noise. I think I originally got it from Megazeux!
And, well, I don't think I know what to say when compared to Tinnitus Sanctus :) Thanks for saying - I'm really pleased that someone who I know is as into power metal as I am enjoys these as part of that genre, too.

Basically because I'm awful at them :) I've used a flute stand-in for so long now that I'd actually forgotten to even... attempt arranging vocals. A couple of people who watch me have posted scraps of their own singing voices with parts of my songs before, though that's about as far as it's gone.

Certainly :) It's not often that musicians on FA have the confidence to put their voice to music (and as you now know, I'm not one of them!) so it would be great to hear an attempt if you wanted to try! I have this in MIDI form as well (first link on the description of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2549082/ ) so it should be easy for me to render it down a few tones if you'd need it.
