jeebus wow, I don't know how you made this look so nice, but I approve.
I especially like how you've incorporated previous works of yours (at least things I recognise) into the background images hanging on the wall... :O
there really is a sense of bustle with some of the characters, trying to scrutinise and reproduce the buck's form... I love this composition.
I'm going to reopen this when I get home so that I'll have a chance to see it without scrolling, netbook does not do it justice.
you should sell this as a print o.O

MAGIC. Seriously? I dunno. :P All I know is that corner needed something to close in the space and a unicorn seemed to fit nicely. Then my next thought was like... but how would she dra.... SILENCE, HIGHER BRAIN FUNCTION, PAINTING MUST HAVE UNICRONZ. And that is a typical day in my life.
the intricacy and fine pointed detail in this is astounding. and ive alwase found the heavily populated art just a thrilling eyecandy. so much to look at, you cant just appreciate it in a single glance. i had to observe EVERYTHING with at least a full 20 minutes.
its gorgeous, its tastfuly refined with a classy creative feeling for the viewer.
this clearly shows your 2 months of hard work

I really really find this a fantastic piece of artwork! This is amazing! I enjoy the different color scheme you're using here (nothing against your colorful pieces!). Also the lighting - it's incredible.
I don't think this thing here needs any further work. I know how it's like when you sit in front of a picture for too long, but I don't see anything that would need revision or something like that.
And now I have no words left any other than ... WOW.

That makes me feel so much better. XD Thank you. I'm serious, that is a HUGE load off my chest. I'm sitting here staring at this thing thinking MMMUUUSSSTTTTT HHHAAAVVVEEE EPIPHANYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! THERE IS ONE LURKING IN THERE SOMEWHERE, I KNOW IT!! AAAARRRRGGGGGG. Yup. That describes about the last solid month of my life. XD
Anyway, thanks. :3
Anyway, thanks. :3
Mad? Me? Nah I'm perfectly macaroni past e=mc^2 in the morning with a cat in the hat to the wild, wild Westminster abbey. To paraphrase Will Smith, getting jiggy and mayonnaise go very well together. However, I disagree with his method as the full monte can only be jacksawed with marmite paste eaten under the shadow of an inverted leopard print snuggie.
Bacon.
Bacon.
This piece is wonderful! I really love the idea and it came out fantastic! I hope you do other pieces like this.
My only criticism which I know would be extremely hard for any professional artist to pull off...
They all draw the same.
The reason I have this as a criticism is that you are trying for as much realism as possible. This piece would be perfect if each of the participants trying to draw the figure all had a different style or even skill level.
I am impressed that some of the drawings all focus on either the thing as a whole, or on specific parts in terms of what the artist can view. That I applaud and you did amazing.
But all the works look like your skill and art. Some people would not be that skilled.
Again, I love this piece and I think you did an amazing job with this. I am just putting in my little bit of two cents in. You put in a lot of effort and it really really really shows in this piece. I love this piece and before even commenting I fav'd.

Haha, reminds me of my drawing class (without all of the crazy colors n' creatures xP) But the drab atmosphere and lighting are both perfect for the studio feel. c: And wooow, such movement! It really flows as a piece. Often on FA I see pieces with really good technique, but without much life/movement to them. You capture the feeling of the moment perfectly. Bravo!
Wow, this is incredible. :) I can't imagine how much work this must have been, considering how much is going on here with the kind of care and detail your individual figures have to begin with. Everything going on just has so much life to it. Wonderful work!
This is very phenomenal. I stared at it for like, several minutes pouring over the detail. You have such an eye for it.
If I may, I personally reflect with the fennec\wolf(?) in the front left, dressed in green straddling the art stand (unsure of what its really called) as this is personally how I prefer to sketch on a large scale.
However, this piece in all honesty is very beautiful. As an artist you know you are your own hardest critic, however, its that modesty that will continue to push you (and every artist) further in exploring their potential.

that is... just woah o_o - thats an insanely impressive amount of work there, and i totally love how it turned out. So much detail, so much to look at.
im going to look at this for a while longer, just damn. if I had the wall space and it was possible, i would totally get a big, high quality print of this and put it up. its really amazing :D

FACT: 85% of the time I spent on this piece was spent staring at my computer and shouting WHAT DO I DO NEXT!? And then I would HHHHHUUUUURRRRRRR like a camel and pass out face-first on my keyboard. The whole right side of my face looks like

First and foremost: Congratulations on adding a mass of individuals together in a single image that -doesn't- involve an orgy, yet at the same time involves tasteful nudity.
Secondly, the amount of species you have put in here is astounding. The visual composition is something that leaves the person not only staring in awe at the creatures that are being drawn, but the background, the detail of the very walls, as well as the compositions which reside upon the wall.
Thirdly: The way you have composed each creature adds a varied and delightful amount of personality that sets them apart from the other individuals within this composition, making them feel alive. This only helps to draw the viewer into the scene further which is often hard to do.
I'd say a gold star is you, but that's too elementary for good work.
What do they give you for exceptional work in college as an equivalent? A porche?

This is just... so amazing. I don't see anything wrong with the composition or filling empty space (two things I struggle with), at all. @_@ It's very well thought-out, very tasteful, and just... man. The change in palette is refreshing, and despite being afraid to do so, it still works out beautifully. Some characters might be capturing more light than they should, perhaps, as there seems to be only one apparent light source hitting a character, yet everyone looks to have their own spotlight and not just the model. That's the only thing I can think of that might be throwing me a bit.
THAT SAID, this thing is still pure eye candy. I can easily see how this could have taken so long!

This is the most detailed piece I've seen in a long long time. This is like Alexius quantity of detail. I see what you mean about it lacking a certain degree of cohesion, but there IS a lot there already, and y'know what? A life drawing class is, by its very nature, lacking a certain degree of cohesion. So I think maybe what you're feeling about the piece is only natural, considering the subject matter.
I have to say, I LOL'ed bigtime at your little Satan conversation. ;)
One of my all-time favorite of favorites on FA. Period.

You're nuts.
You're completely flipping nuts.
This is a tour de force, definitely.
I'm too affraid to think of the time it took. But tooks definitely worth it. It's a mindblowing piece.
And I'm in love with the way you draw the male physiques.
All the titties in the world couldn't compare to one butt like that. <3

2 months well worth the wait!!! This is amazing and then you have all the sketches as seen from each animals pov! The everything is amazing! I like your take on the giraffe and of course the nice butt. :P I was wondering if you still had time to do pieces like this and this is really nice. Thank you!!
All the pieces on the back wall were made specifically for this piece. Some of the other pieces hanging on the wall are actually cameos of my other works. I didn't want to put too many of those in there or it would seem like a cop-out. X3 But the ones of the buck were all drawn singularly for this piece, inside the piece.... if that makes sense? XD Is that what you were asking?
Holy shit!...
So that's where you've been.
This is truly excellent work; I honestly can't find anything wrong here.
Damn. This is a piece you will REALLY want to hold on to, You did wonderfully.
Excellent work!
Is the doodle on the far left chalkboard one of your sketches for this piece?

:D I am very glad to hear that. I believe if you want it badly enough, you can do it. It will take a lot of time, effort, energy, and patience. It will be frustrating and many a time will come when you'll want to give up. Don't give up. Hey look, I went from this: http://bobbie-the-jean.deviantart.com/gallery/31550939#/d184z0u to *points up there* Ya just have to want it and you have to be willing to put in the effort. :) And of course if you ever need help, ask.
Anatomy is tricky. Chances are if you're like most people, it will always be a struggle. Thankfully, that struggle will become less difficult as time goes by. Unfortunately, the only decent advice I can give is just keep at it. Study anatomy and keep doing it over and over. XC
Love it, Love It, Loooooove it! Ah, you don't know how many times I've wanted to draw similar images as I struggled through my Human Figure studies drawing classes. It was only later when I got to drawing models dressed in "Period" outfits that I felt more "Comfortable." By the way, I find the "Critter" in the Left Corner who has to draw with his mouth intriguing, inspiring, and disturbing all at the same time.
At least you got some critique, some valid, some "less so". Not another useless "Oh sweet!". Some are outright trolls, some simply have a different taste (goddamnit, I LOVE your cyan and fuchsia!) Anyway, as you certainly noticed, positive feedback outweights negative, and that being Lulz, you have achieved something!
It really is very very busy. I personally like pieces without a whole lot going on because I enjoy being able to focus in on a specific element (Character, item, back ground etc)... That being said. This is a display of your amazing talent and though it is not to my personal preference for this kind of work I can not fault it. It really looks very realistic.. in that if all the 'people' were human I could see this being a painting of an art class at work. With the non-human characters though it has a fantastic/whimsical quality that I find very appealing. Two thumbs up :3 (I hope my comments aren't out of place)
my gosh ...
what and absolutely fantastic piece of work you accomplished here.
the depth of detail and the spread of lighting vs shading is just amazing. every character is unique and varies from one to the other
what i noticed first though, is your ability to capture each individual character's perspective and view of the figure in the middle. you really mastered the p.o.v.!
next was the depth of colors and range of details in their fur and the muscle structures of each character. they all have such unique body types i could look at
this piece all day and not find something new each time i glance back to it.
another thing, the lighting. the way you captured the reflectivity off the fur of each character is so sharp. most noticeable on the gryphon in the background.
right along her right shoulder and collarbone is where the light reflects the most of fur/feathers.
overall this piece is absolutely magnificent, so much detail and such a selection of characters to look at. the art each is working on provides an all around view
from each of their perspectives on the figure in the middle.
beautiful and stunning work! keep it up!

This is a pretty damn amazing piece! Most superb work here!
Normally James Gurney's approach is to gather half the neighborhood into his living room, set up costumes and lighting and then takes metric fucktons of photo reference. What I want to know is how you managed the lighting in this without doing that?! Ambient lighting royally kicks my ass without reference so I usually resort to extreme light sources (A single lamp, a TV, something!) but you pulled the lighting off in this quite nicely. What is your secret?

That is astonishing work... wow.
I really love how the students come in all sizes, types, and body plans - the giraffe lady on the right seems a little serpentine, but they're a severe challenge to anthro-ize. Turtle and unicorn students are nicely done and hilarious - this is the kind of picture I can stare at for hours and still not find everything. Bravo!

I'd have to use quite the string of expletives to display my actual awe of this image. This is probably one of the best pieces of art I've seen all year.
Aside from that, I think it's really great that you're able to step back and analyze yourself and determine exactly the areas in which you can work to improve yourself. Never stop trying to be better!

See, I am imagining that you are sitting at a desk and you wave your magical art powers over the surface and all these colors flow out of it and splat on the page in the perfection above ;)
Seriously though, I like seeing the work up before hand just kind of tips for myself (since I b broke and have to self teach). Is this another one you did in z-brush and transferred to Photoshop or did you have a hand drawn sketch you started off with?

Er, don't hate me for this, but:
Could you please fix the unicorn's hooves (and signature in the corner of her paper)? Equines don't have cloven hooves...
Don't mean to nitpick, but it's rather distracting from the rest of the awesomeness. A quick search will yield sufficient references of both hoof and print.
Um, other than that, it's completely flawless, congratulations. Essentially what the 98,457 other people said before me.

Nah, you're fine, no harm here.
I do happen to be a particular equine aficionado, though admittedly not until relatively recently, when I happened to fall in love with a few miniature equine friends of the magical variety. Perhaps you are familiar with such creatures? ;)

So, I found this from
Stank 's journal titled "The Best Thing I Have Ever Seen on FA..." and I assumed it would be a joke with a link to stick figures or something. I see now he was not joking in the slightest.
Needless to say Silverone this is thoroughly, thoroughly impressive. I cannot believe you're not happy with it, but supposedly Leonardo Da Vinci wasn't happy with the Mona Lisa even up until the day he died so maybe that's just a burden that comes with being a talented artist.
I wish I could offer you more than just a compliment. Thank you very much for sharing your artwork here, it's a pleasure to see! I'll definitely be checking out the rest of your gallery, and watching you to see what awesome work you do in the future.
Good luck with everything! ^^

I've been watching you for a while and all of your artwork is amazing, but this is the most astounding piece you've ever made. The scope, depth, and detail are just staggering.
I really don't have words for this piece, it's just amazing.... This is my favorite piece you've done thus far.

Oh god, there is something that i cannot get of your works... most of them make me feel like looking at something real >.< like ITs there... and this image gave me strongest feeling... oddly enought i was reading a book that depicted such creatures... dancing actually xD looks like fun to share a drawing class with em~
Good gods that's the most incredible thing I've seen on FA, in fact I'm going to go right out and say this is by far the best image on the site, with out question. It exemplifies SO MUCH about what I like about the furry fandom. We are asll so incredibly fortunate to be able to view your work. And despite all the hassles you've encountered, you still gift us with your imagination and presentation like this. My hats off, a respectful bow and a earnest hand shake.
I want to be a part of this world.
I want to be a part of this world.
I oughta smack you for saying its not done! >:T This is Awesome work! A little busy yes, but it balances itself out with the static drawings in the back. I wish I could draw half as good as this image. Insta Fav.
BTW I agree with Satan, The turtle does have the right idea. *Bow chicka bow wow.*

mostly?! I believe the sea of comments would agree with me in saying its freaking awesome and a great piece of artwork as it is, but it is your piece after all. It in my eyes is and has been completed, I just hope what ever it is that you are going to add dont over complicate the entire piece. I myself have a problem with that aspect. Best of luck dude.
Dam I was just blown away by this. I put it on my wallpaper, an still. I can't get work down because of the distraction. Especially that gorgious buck deer they're sketching. I can only be more distracted if there was a female deer in it. Blast you, female! :)
I hope to see more from you soon, that's for sure. :)

This is beyond any kind of word I can fanthom. Amazing doesnt even come close to how outstanding this is. And this coming from a student in a very high quality College getting his BA in illustration. You never cease to amaze me and every time you do something amazing you somehow manage to go annother step or more further. I envy your skills and hope that you will make a book "The art of BJP/Silverone" I would get that book! Especially if in hard cover ;)
The little fluffy guy on the far left made me lol... Uncontrollably. Both for his placement on that headless figure and his own actions with his utensil. lol
For how much is going on in this image, I feel like I'm interrupting a class... *steps out silently* >_>; It's just so damn real looking. lol
Things I learned from this:
It must be very hard to draw with hooves.
Turtles need longer arms.
You really know how to turn your perspective around.
The act of "boobhatting."

I just tripped across this pic by pure accident and I confess I'm utterly blown away by the sheer magnitude of the intense detail and loving attention that was put into this piece. I have studied it for a long LONG time when I found it and have noticed the richness of the colors.. the blending of the tones and the "flavor' of the choices that make up each body and small tidbit of detail (the tiny animals that dot the walls and other bits around the room that are, by my interpretation, just friends and companions of the larger anthro species that favor the room's atmosphere itself..
...I'm truly at a loss for how to describe the wonder of this piece.. The textures of the fur and the bodies are simply fabulous.. The dragon and the unicorn in particular are beyond *rich* in their intense sensation of detail.. the scale pattern on his body alone is just... *sighs*... oh dear heaven how perfect it is.. it looks like one could reach out and TOUCH it and wonder at the bead like smoothness of each scale down his back and across his shoulders..
The fur patterns and the sweet life that your talents have breathed into this masterpiece of soft erotica are truly, in my terribly limited little opnion, without equal.
I have never, in my nearly 12 years of enjoying this site.. I have not ever come across a piece like this that, in its way, breathes of the power of creation by the artist who brought it into being..
it truly is... (again, in my teeny little opnion).... without rival or equal.
*smiles softly*
you've probably been asked this quite a lot.. but if you *EVER* intend to make this a print to sell.. then I will beg on my knees to please let me know somehow (a mass note on FA or some such) that it is available and I'll happily purchase 2..
I agree with a friend of mine, who I, when I saw this pic, instantly shared it with 12 other online lovers and companions who had not ever seen it before either.. ( and they, themselves were just as blown away by its grandure as I was)
and at least half of them said < quote>
" that is gallery quality .... beyond doubt."
And I so heartily agree. I hope one day you DO make prints of it.. I truly do.
This piece is amazing. So much beautiful detail, so many wonderfully rendered things. It's certainly a crowded room, and you could say a lot is going on, but it's not overwhelming or confusing - there's a clear focus. You've outdone yourself.
I especially like the cute turtle at the bottom, pencil inhandmouth. Interesting composition that little guy's chosen, there...
As for Satan, I always imagined him as bi. (Or even omni.) Men's asses ought to be right up his alley...

You never cease to inspire me! Your characters have such life and they don't rely on any other bit of the piece. Everything in this
is a standalone work of art, but combined it its so impressive and, I just wanna stare at it and try to learn your awesome ways!
It almost makes me want to cry with is beautifulness!
I love that the little guy on the chalkboard is drawing the entire class. Very inspired!

So... many... comments. o.O But you deserve it. My gosh, there is just so much to see, and it's all done so well that it's all worth seeing too! I have to know what inspired this. Why did you make it? For friends? To sell? Just for fun? I think the dragon is my favorite character, just because of the realistic texture and color, but I keep staring at that fat fuzzy critter sitting on the manikin on the left. And it's neat how you included the figure study drawings on the walls, and the critter with the sculpture on the right. Most people wouldn't even think of those little details!
Thanks. :)
Why did you make it? For friends? To sell? Just for fun? Noop. :P I wanted to do something challenging. I wanted to prove to myself that I could draw figures convincingly in an indoor setting. I wanted to try something I had never done before. So really, I was just trying to push myself to see how far I could go and what I am capable of.
It was not easy. There were several times when I came close to saying !@#$%^&* THIS and tossing it. :P So yeah. I guess you could say the inspiration was learning, as goofy as that may sound. XD

That's incredible, that you would do something this epic just for fun, and that you stuck with it. Most people wouldn't have tried so hard without some kind of monetary reward or something. Shows how determined you are! Again, lovely work, and continue to do amazing work!
Well wow... This is one of the most impressive art pieces i have seen in quite some time.
Cuto's to pressing outside your comfort zone, even if i had to scale said zone by measuring it to your abilities, it has to be a massive one to play in anyway.
Just Good [insert religious deity here] woman, you know how to bring art to life.
Congratulations! Well done! Bravo!
*Gives Standing Ovation*

*squish* :3 Thank you. By the way, my mother absolutely adores that vase you made, just the thought alone brought joy to her. and of course I keep mine on my desk so I can look at it in the rising sun every morning. Makes a love play of color and light. :) I keep blue fishtank baubles in it :P Well, and flowers too sometimes. XD
Breathtaking. Magnificent. [insert remainder of Roget's Thesaurus here]
I can't help but wonder, though, what works of art might appear on the canvases of the classmates fortunate enough to be seated on the *other* side of that handsome cervine. The student directly in front of him -- the long-eared lady with the Queen Amidala makeup :) -- seems particularly 'drawn' to her subject. Perhaps her brush will yield an 'endowment of the parts'? ;)

Wow.
The grade of detail is just simply amazing.
This is some piece of artwork that's rarely seen, and i don't mean only here on fa.
Right now, i am realy impressed..... and glad that i have you in my watchlist.
All the little things you can find if you look closely... that's something i adore.
I mean, THIS is fucking ART!
Thank you for sharing this and sorry for my bad english.

I saw in your comment that you're still not happy with it, but I wanted to express how amazing I find this piece. Especially things like the fact the frog's picture is not just lamely the side of this stag, but actively his frogs' eye view. Such attention to detail is astounding and wonderful to me. I think this is a really beautiful piece of art, and I hope you continue working on it until you are satisfied with it.
Thank you. :) I'm mostly happy with it but I feel like there are things I could have done differently. I am most happy because I now know I can set characters believably in an indoor environment. On the other hand, I wish I had put in an instructor and maybe some more foreground elements.
Breathtaking. Inspiring. Phenomenal. Inspirational. Detailed. Insane, just overall amazing. You do need to rest your eyes with something like this, but this has got to be one of the best pictures ever submitted to the whole of FA. o.=.o It's just, nice to see something as inspirational as this without any detection of porn. It's just... @.=.@ CRAZY!!!!
Thank you. :) I'm glad I did it, this was a great learning piece and I proved to myself that I can do things I didn't think I could. :) Most important lesson learned OMFHG PREPLANNING PREPLANNING PREPLANNING PREPLANNING PREPLANNINGPREPLANNINGPREPLANNINGPREPLANNINGPREPLANNINGPREPLANNINGPREPLANNING. XD Lol.
Nice reminder of my years doing figure drawing in university, fun times crowding in as many people into a small space to try and draw a single figure, looking at each others work and seeing how each person would view the same scene with different perspectives. Really very nice detail work and nice use of differing characters. I look forward to seeing more in future.
Frigging amazing and mind blowingly detailed! You sell yourself short my friend... You turned out quite the piece of art! All those little details.. like the sketches up on the wall of the horned girl on the right side, (the one with her back to the model).. All those little details and such make it one STAND OUT piece of art...
WOW! :O Really? I am very happy that this piece evoked such emotion. :) And I believe you can. I worked my way up from this: http://bobbie-the-jean.deviantart.com/gallery/31550939#/d184z0u You just have to want it badly enough. Looking at your stuff, I can see that you have definite talent. :) Let me know if there is ever any way I can help you.
Hi there,
I know I'm the xth person to ask for a print, but since I rarely go to conventions and live in germany I wanted to ask whether you can upload a higher resolution version of this incredible picture? I'd just feel aweful to print this picture, which includes so many wonderful details, in low res and as small as maybe Din A3 or something :( Is there a possibility? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaze ö_ö

Good gods. O.o That is easily one of the most detailed pieces of art I've ever come across on FA - and so beautiful too! I love the diversity of characters, and how each one has characteristics that hint at a rich history (marks on the dragon, for example). Also greatly amused by the turtle with a pencil, lol. Excellent job.
This is utterly amazing. You should be very proud of this piece. It has so much life too it, it feels alive from the characters, to the props and the background and lighting. I love the interaction the characters have in the world, like the little bunny character atop the human figure and the colorful squirrel on the chalkboard. Even the little rainbow sticky notes.
There is just SO MUCH going on that it feels right, it doesn’t feel too cluttered or too busy. Everything feels like hidden treasures through out the piece. Like the gryphon lady in the back looking at the model and the turtle at the floor with his pencil.
You did an amazing job on this piece it just blows my mind and inspires me. The colors are lovely and the world you created here feels ALIVE.
Your various birds and lizards on the canvas and props are a nice touch.
*Applause*

Holy heck that is really impressive. I get told on a regular basis that I've got a lot of patience for adding in so much detail into my drawings that most people won't ever notice. But my drawings look empty compared to this! The scene itself looks great, typical of a figure drawing class, were the class made of anthropomorphic animals that is. All the characters are really well drawn, but what I'm really impressed by is all their drawings from their perspectives. My mind flipped when I saw the Squirrely things drawing on the chalk board on the left of the picture. Anyway, this is really impressive. Great work.
I feel like if I had added an instructor boob-hatting a student, that would have been nice. I would also like to have included some more forward foreground elements, particularly easels with people painting at them. I'm still not completely happy with the color palette. I would also like to have tried to push the figure dynmatics a little more and have some REAL character interaction, that is something I still fear and have difficulty with. There are a few other little things. Over all I am happy with it though. I accomplished most of the goals I set out to so I'm glad of that.
That silver kitty cat is an art thief! A terrible naughty wicked art thief of low moral values and social disposition!

Just look at this picture and then her sketch!
Why she must have traced it! And then positioned all the easals so that one was in exactly the right place. And then grabbed it. And then got the buck to pose in exactly the right place, and slowly traced it in such a way that noone else saw what she was doing... Erm, where was I again? Oh yes.
Art thief! Art thief I tell you!

Yes. I think you must not be very familiar with photoshop because you seem not to understand how layers work. If I paint a background on layer A then paint something on layer B there will be no visual difference if I had painted both things on the same layer. Layers only separate information, unless the layer has a blend mode applied such as multiply or overlay, in which case it separates information and changes the information. Normal layers do not change the information, they separate it conceptually.
I know exactly how layers work. Sorry, I'm sometimes bad at expression.
Let's just say that.. the inconsistency between contrast/palette of the background and the characters/figures/objects makes it somehow look like the objects don't fit. It's as if the background was first painted, and then the objects were painted separately and then glued on top :P
You wrote that you shouldn't be intimidated by putting figures in an enviroment. Well, maybe you should be..
Anyway, just ignore me. Considering the otherwise brilliant design and work invested, my criticism makes me look bad. And a troll. 48÷2(9+3) = ?

Nnnooooooooo...... XD Certainly doesn't make you look bad or like a troll, not even remotely. XD It's your opinion, you weren't confrontational. I think what you simply mean to say is that some elements seem not to jive as well as other elements. :P Not a problem at all.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck...
Damn this must have been a massive project!
And James Gurney is a bastard for being so amazing T_T *envy* Kaaterskill Falls is godly <3
I love how much detail and thought you've put into this too, for example, the angles that all the students drawings/paintings are at from their perspective.
Seriously, bang on work <3

Oh no, not what I meant at all. What I mean is, it looks similar to a zBrush model, so my brain immediately thought that's what it was. Whether it was or wasn't isn't the point, it just looks like it is. It still fits into the picture really well, the lighting and such are bang on - just caught my eye is all :)
:P Sorry, I didn't mean to seem confrontational. I always try to get other people's opinions and try to figure out why they feel that way. Actually it is a model. I ADORE Zbrush, it is my favorite program next to photoshop. I did honestly wonder if the sculpture seemed to fit. No one said it doesn't fit but......... I wonder. The rest of my zbrush additions blended in seamlessly but that one thing.... not so sure.
-Holy Jackals! What a weird creature, you've drew here! All naked skin and this filthy round face.... are theese little meatlets its ears? Talking of his "thing"... sweetie, god must be veeery upset, if this creature ever would given birth anywhere in whole world.
-Yeah, i know, Mrs Stoneheart. But isn't this supposed to be free expression day?
-Of course, of course, sweetie, it is... just one last thing: how did you name this creature?
-Human. The legend says, they used to live on the surface of our planet...
-Gah... what a mystirious load of.... nevermind, just keep on the good work. *walks away, whisper* "Humans"... more like "humiliators".
(don't ask, where it's from)

I thought I had seen it all. Then this pops up on FurAffinity. I'm pretty speechless, can't find the right words to express my admiration for this piece, and the things I want to say have already been said. Other words would just have been lost in translation. It's marvelous and astounding and I never thought it was possible to create something as divine as this. Your mind is truly a magnificent rose. :)
I could probably drone on about every detail on the page for HOURS and still not cover every nuance of this piece.
If detail could be calculated in lumens, this would be bright enough to blind and sear off one's flesh.
I'm spell bound by each sketch within the pic being a different perspective of the figure. It's ludicrous!
that and the I Furaffinity sticker on the tool box is a nice touch

This is all types of awesome.
There's so much delicious detail to look at in this piece, and every part is wonderfully composed.
It's such a delight to view, and each time my eye is drawn to something that I haven't noticed before.
Fantastic work!
This would make an epic A3/A2 sized poster or print.

C'n I curl up in yer brain for a while? Mebbe I can learn something from osmosis...
Seriously, my jaw met floor and bounced. I looked away, looked back, found something new- floor, meet jaw again. Yes, I know you were just introduced. This is gorgeous, there is so much going on, the palette is warm and comforting (with the shocks of your usual screamingly-bright fuchsia and turquoise. LOL Love it). Like so many have said- that turtle... LOL Likes butt, I see. Dunno if anyone else has mentioned it, but the crowd, the colours, the various things going on in the image remind me a lot of how Rembrandt liked to crowd some of his paintings (I know he's mostly known for his portraits, but he did several group scenes): http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/rembrandt/1640/night-watch/rembrandt.night-watch.jpg http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/rembrandt/1630/nicolaes-tulp.jpg He loved that ochre and brown palette, too. >^__^<
I am curious about the golden dragon-critter to the left, though- why does he look like he only has one horn? *headscratches, maybe he's supposed to*
All the detail (the wee gryphon curled up in the big green dragon's tail... Tired after doing the little clay figure? LOL)... Mind is blown.

Oh my frikken God this is so fantastic... I honestly cannot come up with anything that hasn't been already said. I especially love the little details you threw in there, in particular how the little critters are doing 'art'. I especially adore the chinchila-looking critter to the far left, at first I thought it was an anthro creature with a toned physique and an especially large head... it took me a while to realize that it is just a little rodent sitting on top of a half-complete statue. XD
There is nothing to say about this piece. Only that it is superior of everything on FA, regardless of it's EXTREMELY few flaws, this picture is without a doubt worthy of its own award.
Not the best.
Not the most superb.
The correct term is: ???
as I said, there is nothing one can say. Thank you Silverone.

Heehee. Lol. The bear-ish type thing and gryphon in the BG are supposed to be guys. I have been thinking about making them more manly because everyone thinks they're chicks. Sorry, fag-hag here and I <3 femmie guys. XD Might give the bear a buzzcut. :B
As for that blue dragon, yes, you can haz. Be forewarned though, he plays rough and he has a proclivity for toys. ;)

You're very skilled, but this piece lacks something fundamental. You gave every figure the same high-detail high-contrast rendering treatment, but you should consider incorporating a hierarchy of detail/contrast so you can direct the eye of the viewer more deliberately. Like, consider only letting one or two figures pop off the page, and have the other figures be less "poppy". This is basically just a compositional technique that lets you guide the viewer's eyes (of which you guide if you are aware of it or not). Your finished piece gives me an uncanny sense of "flatness" that an HDR photo sometimes has, and the way to dodge that bullet is to do something like this
http://www.paintinghere.com/UploadPic/William_Bouguereau/big/Nymphs%20and%20Satyr..jpg
where only certain figures get a colourful fully-rendered high contrast treatment and are sort of "first in line" for the viewer to look at. Right now, the figures on the left are a high enough chroma that I am inclined to look at them over everything else. It's just how out visual system works, so you gotta make it work to your advantage. :)

You're comparing this dim, indoor scene which is my first attempt at multiple characters in an indoor environ to.... William Adolfe Bouguereau's outdoor scene with dramatically different lighting? XD Not a very good example. An indoor scene with similar lighting would work as a better comparison.
You'd do well to compare yourself to Bouguereau, just don't get carried away and become depressed or something, lol. Also, his painting could be inside a room and work reasonably well I think. Without tweaking the lighting wouldn't really make that much sense, lol, but that's fine. The lighting should be geared towards producing a pleasing image moreso than a realistic one, right?
Here's something indoors from Rembrandt:
http://conservapedia.com/images/3/39/Rembrandt_Samson_wedding.jpg
I'm not suggesting that you copy Rembrandt, though, since he's one dude among many that employed a hierarchy of conrast/detail to great effect. He had is own way of doing so (it's like some of his indoor images are lit by a few candles...). Paintings just seem to benefit from having a clear hierarchy, which probably has to do with how we can't perceive the forms within them stereoscopically, so we have to "fake" depth if we want our work to have some.
Anyways, I'm not trying to crush your spirit or whatever, it looks like you did a ton of work and learned a lot and that's a big deal.

Ppppppppfffffffffffffttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt..... I wish. XD Me, Bouguereau..... that's like comparing a meal of fillet Mignon, potato au gratin a la Montery Jack cheese, and a side of clam chowder to the gunk in the bottom of a Mc Donald's deep fryer. XD LOLOLOL.
Was going to leave a completely dumbstruck comment at how amazing, full, vibrant and magical this piece is. Discovered my main account is blocked by you! I have zero recollection of ever interacting with you before, but I guess I made an impression.
I was gonna +watch and look at more of your art, but oh well.

A person spends a couple of years immersed in Furry art and there comes the time when they feel they “have seen it all”. And then, like a shaft of bright light cutting through a cloudy sky, comes a work like this one. Any of the superlatives I might have used in the past on other works becomes empty when seeing this. Perhaps “masterpiece” comes close.
As for your discontent with the work, well sorry to tell you this, but that is a feeling that all GOOD ARTISTS have. That “never satisfied critic” inside their skulls that annoyingly is always telling the artist, “It could have been better.” Ironically it is that little SOB who is part and parcel of the “artistic muse”. The thing that spurs an artist to continually reach for greater heights and accomplishments with their next works.

This, I compare only in the best sense of comparing, to Soldier's Prayer. This fully rocks. This... the muscles and figure of that dragon especially but of all the characters and the scene... in fact it's causing me ideas to write a G-rated storylet all based on this scene even cx and best of all, yay for a life drawing class where so many *different* media are being used to render with! Well worth your effort and time and surely strain too, making it. C:
It is! I keep coming back and find new things I love. The reflections on the floor, the creative use of color, the different pictures within the picture, the blinds, the little details of the drinking cup and stickers on the pencil boxes, the expressions, the individual characters. I'm in awe!
This is beyond incredible, the textures, particularly on the dragons skin is stunning! The lighting, the drawings they have created, I cannot find anything to need revision. The detail is amazing, stunning, my god I cannot find enough superlatives! ^^
Well done, truly well done to you!
Well done, truly well done to you!
This is simply astonishing! There is a lot of work and time invested into this, and it shows. All of the fine details bring this picture to life. And I can already imagine that art room smell and that nice warm sensation of sitting down in there and creating something! Beautiful work! A gold star for you! XD
This is REALLY amazing and beautiful! I am in awe of your lighting skills, and sense of environment! Also how great you are at designing clothes. The only critique I would have which is a BIT nit picky, but I always like critique on things that even I put a TON of work into is, the Unicorn's face is a bit cylinder like, and slightly disproportionate. I know you did this all pretty much with out refs, but even for fantasy creatures I usually find different mixes of refs to make it believable. Also the Dragon's drawing of the deer should be more of a side view I would think since he is more to the side of him and that same view was drawn but the person to his left. That would be a serious pain in the ass with how much attention to detail you put in this piece but doing more perspectives would make it that much more believable. You DID do that I saw with some of the ones by his front. But could have done almost a "turn around" effect for the other sketches. May have been interesting. Anyways I simply LOVE this, and I do wonder how the fuck that unicorn drew that.. hahahah.
For God's sake
This is a tremendous work to look at For million Years!
It's Super Amazing how you've recreated the same pieces from different angles/point of views
Tell me, do you think there's more practise in a large project like this, or in short sketches/Drawings?
Anyway it's simply Outstanding, keep Me staring at it for a lot of time.

Nestly: Absolutely amazing. Looks like it went through a long process of work.
I love all the little details, such as the sticky notes on the corners of the paintings. And the freaking Nyan cat stick on the supply box there! XD REALLY?
Also that little turtle cracks me up. How will he do it?? Come on little guy, you can do it! ...SOMEHOW!
In a way, this piece I think represents Fur Affinity as a whole beautifully. Wonderful job!

This is absolutely AMAZING!!! I seriously just LOVE your art style! Yes, the color palette was definitely different, but not displeasing in any way. And I do just LOVE how you've used previous pieces of your work as art to hang on the walls! (At least, I'm near positive I've seen them before... I know all the pieces. I think the poses are the same...)
(I know a month has pasted since the art was posted.) Holy Pete! This is awesome work. The detail is outstanding, (and not just in left field, bad pun). Each time I look at it I find something I didn't see before. For furry art, it is a masterpiece. I can certainly believe a month has past since you started it. There is just too much going on there to comment about I could write a couple pages about all the things I find amusing in this piece. The thing that strikes me most is the perceptional difference of each student artist's drawing the Stag. Some of the drawn perceptions are aligned with that student's species body's build. Like, I'm amused that the Giraffe drew the Stag tall and thin like her, (BTW that's one of the missing tities Satan didn't count against you). Though I haven't written much I spent half an hour revising what you read above.
I guess my final thing to say is...... Where's the teacher in this art class? (Out of view taking it easy at her/his desk sipping tea I assume. LOL) Definitely bookmarking your art page.

I love everything about this picture. Stuff like this is so incredibly hard for me - the backgrounds, characters interacting with one another in subtle ways, consistent light sources, but you did this perfectly. I'm in envy. The fact you worked without photo references is even more amazing.
Dear Bobbie Jean Pentecost.
This is a classic painting you realize. The best of many worlds. Of art, of friendship, of furry. This work of fine art reflects the greatest and offers much to anyone willing to open their eyes.
Beautiful, outstanding, awesome, rad, I run out of rude and simply wish to compliment on you a job well done.
The more I delve the greater the appreciation and joy this painting. The characters most of all. Centerpiece, a gorgeous buck posing nude with flowers held in the artful way. But then the subtle composition, the immense planning (chalkboard reflecting the squirrel dude's view) which is repeated depending on the view of the drawer/painter/sculptor. Sticky notes. Tree shadings through the shades. Tall, slender giraffe, sturdy dragon, a unicorn with beautiful metal bracelets, the fox in the center, the turtle with his low angle view. Pure furry I only desire a big print to frame and hang on my living room or bedroom wall with pride and astonishment. Good gracious, lady, look at you, silver one.
Oh, by the way, I am impressed. Thank you for my new desktop.

Steed (another goofy furry artist)
this is quite honestly the most incredible art i have ever seen.. o.o fur and skin tone ... shadows, light .. the detail is incredible - and so much to look at.. - you have to be a famous artist .. because if you arent? you really really need to submit to art galleries :) I've never been able to work out how people can put something to paper - with such realism - but you're one of those incredibly talented people :3 much much respect from this raccoon ^^ *offers shiny spoons for your awsomeness*
Thanks and nope. :B I do not have a single piece that feels 100% complete. XC You give me dat I give you dis feels mostly there but still, not quite. I wish I had more time to practice my art but more and more of my time has been getting eaten up by work. :\ Bills. They overwhelm me. But hey, that's life. It was a hell of a lot easier to do my own artwork when I didn't have to worry about bills. XC
How anyone could be unhappy with that I'll never know, your arts always been on a whole other level, and this is no exception - The more I look, the more I see. Even one character from this would have been impressive, let alone all that. Poor frog though, no one thought to give it a pad and pen.
Thanks. :)
But immediately after I finished I thought of about 100 things I could have done differently, better. And I'd love to. I would LOVE to try something like this again with the knowledge I gained from working on this piece. Alas, I cannot. I don't have the time. Siren call if bills and all. :\ Maybe someday.

Eeeeh.... I'd say get differing opinions and do some research, don't just take my word for it. Just be forewarned that it can be very difficult to make a living in this field and student loans can get out of control if you're not careful. Personally, I'm more inclined to advise against than for but that's just me. :)
After a long search I have found a graphic arts printer, woulde you be upset if I put this on a disc and had prints made, they would be as large as can be,I really would like one in my library, along with my horse portrates,I will let you know when printed,it will be a direct copy of what is here,no touchy on any thing,I beleive yor signature or water marks are ther, they will be on the prints, this is the most amazing work I have ever seen on fa,my sisters art class did murals in oils, thats about 40 or so years ago, nothing left though.please keep up the teriffic work, norman rockwell would praise you too.
Oh it looks fine, here's a fave :D *Toss*
I think maybe if I had to say soemthing (which I'm not sure has already been said in the nine months this has been up due to laziness of scrolling up/reading and disregarding any willingness to put any more work on this piece) The composition is a bit flat because of the universal lighting cast on every character. You'd think the deer would be in a spotlight with the overhead lamp, gradually making the scene around him a bit darker to create that depth. I'm probably trying too hard to find something, iy's still absolutely amazing <3

Maybe it's a discrepancy between your monitor and mine because I actually did go out of my way to try and create like.... a vignetting affect so that the deer would be lighter than the other creatures? In any case, thank you for the complement. I suppose I could lighten him a little more.
Oh no no, it wasn't that he's not light enough, it's that the rest could have been a little darker, gradually from the deer. You did actually apply this effect to the background where everything gets slowly darker away from the spotlight, but all characters are highlighted roughly equally. It does serve to show off all the incredible detail on every character though, I'm not sure it would be a good thing to trade off
You have a fair point on both counts. XC I like the idea of darkening everyone else and in fact have tried it before. But like you say, then I lose the detail on the other characters. :P
Trust me, if I could do this all over again, there are a lot of things I'd do differently. On the upside, it was a very valuable learning piece.

I kno0w how the unicorn did her drawing,no not magic,no not using her mouth, she uded her hoofie, they are cloven hoofed, most cloven hoofers can move each hoofie half almost independantly, she hold the pencil or what ever she uses between her hoof, jus as if they were to fingers.how about theat hoofie. ,please more.
same here, i opened a personalized pet care center and that takes up most of my time. the last thing i was able to spend 2 months on was a painting from when i firs started college XD i made the paint look like it was glowing but i can't get it to look like that when i try to get a pic of it to post on here lol
only took me like a 1000 days to scroll to the end of this page..so I can say, wow Fantastic ^^ OMG wow.... I love everything about this ..I guess its good that all the animals helped you draw this , can u image if you had to draw all the art in this like everything thats on the wall, ^^ at least the furries helped you there.... Take care. =)
This piece is amazing. I do have a word that perhaps will help the quandaries you have had with your own work. As to the unactivated space, I'd suggest leaving it. It's a reality. Think of your real life. When you walk into a room, do you notice everything? Is every inch of the room interesting to you? No. I think it's better with the empty space and wouldn't change that at all.
As to the general unfinished feeling you seem to have, look at the drawing by the scaley and see if that is what your subconscious has been nagging to you about. The easel has a drawing on it from the audience's perspective, not from the perspective the lizard would have from her vantage point.
Anyway, absolutely wonderful piece. I must say I wish I had that kind of talent.

Quite frankly, and maybe I'm being too hard on myself but I don't think so, I think my compositional skills are a bit lacking. It is something that does not come naturally or easily to me. In this case, what I was attempting to do...... well I was attempting to do several things that I had never done before and never been terribly good at:
1.) Many characters with some character interaction.
2.) Indoor environment.
3.) Telling a strong story/stories.
In terms of the composition, I was attempting to convey "Art Class." I didn't want to focus on any one thing but show a broad picture. It ended up looking cluttered and somewhat flat to me. Don't get me wrong, It's probably my crowning achievement as an artist but it's abundantly clear that I should have thought it through a little more. If I had the time (and didn't have to pay absurd amounts of bills) I'd love to go back and give this idea another shot with the knowledge and skills I have gained since then. As it is, the damned thing took me 200 hours give or take over the course of 2 months. O__O

Hmm. I can see what you mean, and the time taken was one of the reasons I was asking you about it. For a two month piece it seems like preproduction and research on how to properly frame and compose the scene should be the most important part, while rendering would logically take a backseat since, intellectually speaking, it's just about putting in the hours.
I was also curious about how you use contrast within the framing of the composition and the actual visual storytelling since (and this is something that I kind of see going back through your gallery here) it seems like your stylistical choice is to use a very harsh tonal key all over, but having so much contrast everywhere sort of throws the eye around instead of guiding it through.

You seem to be laboring under the mistaken assumption that I did not plan this piece out which is wrong because I did. Take the fact that it did not come out as I intended to be evidence that I am in fact not perfect. *LE GASP!* Furthermore, rendering is most assuredly not only about putting in the hours. If rendering a piece to this level of detail was only a matter of time, anyone would be able to do it and I would be out of a job.

Not to give undue credit by comparing myself to the masters of yore but the same could be said about a great number of them, not the least of which are Caravaggio, Titian, Manet, and Rembrandt (some of whose art practically verged on being black and white). Like I said, I am no master but I don't think starkness of tone and high contrast inherently disperse focus. If anything, I believe the opposite is true. I want my focal points to stand out so the eye knows where to go. Here, in this painting, I attempted bringing light and high contrast to the center as a means of emphasizing the stag and students around him. Yet the effect I was aiming for is, in my opinion, negated by all the clutter which confuses the eye. There are ways I could remedy that but I would rather try again with all the new knowledge and skills I have gained in this last year and a half.

No problem. I hope you found it useful. :)Just fyi, I wouldn't be trying to learn from me if I were you. I'm pretty much a walking conglomeration of everything not to do if you're an aspiring artist. :P But that aside, if I can ever help you in any way, let me know. I try to be helpful when I can.
OMG.
MUCH COMMENT. MANY BUTTS. SO ART. WAOW.
OAO;; Seriously, there's TOO MUCH DETAIL for me to absorb in one go. Took me like 4 minutes of just staring at this one to get how many peoples you've stuffed into one picture. And they're all really well-posed.
If I was there in person, I would HUG the SHIT out of you.

Ffft, nah. I'm lucky if I get more than two comments a week nowadays except immediately after I've posted something in which case I'm lucky if I get more than ten comments. This piece was a BIG exception probably because it has so much going on.
Honestly, I would much, much, much A MILLION PERCENT rather have someone ask me an interesting question or say something interesting or even make me laugh than get a billion "Nice job" comments. I like having actual conversations with people rather than having my butt polished. :P

I AGREE IMMEDIATELY. Because your assbutt can only get so sparkly >.>
Your conversations with satan get me in the weirdest mood also, i rather enjoy this e.e
I have an intense desire also to say that your froge did not go unnoticed by my eyeglobes in this. Your frog blep is my spirit animal.
And because reasons, i really wanted to ask: Where did the inspire come from for this big huge thing here? The artception is really quite clever @.@. Was it for poops and chuckles or was it a commissioned piece? and i also mean lel, that's 2 months of jerking off a tablet pen, my wrist would sound like cement cracking after that <.>

MY ASSBUTT IS SO SPARKLY, IT CAN BE SEEN FROM outer space! *( Y )*
This was a personal piece that began as a sketch but started getting serious around the 40hr mark. :P Also, lol. Yeah, I'm surprised my right arm isn't curled up like a preying mantis claw after all that. XD

*astronauts crash into the same satellite 12 times over because of the ungodly shine*
Thaaat's fucking awesome. I sometimes to a lot of times don't give 7 doodles about the art i do for myself xD i gotta push my rendering more e.e basically coz photoshop is a magnificent rainbow universe and i am colourblind.
Also where did satan come from in your artly internetly antics? It is my favourite thing on my art sites, i live for the weirdness so hard

Thanks. :) Though, a lot of it is just plain hard work and not giving up. I sucked for a long time before I got to this point. :P I think it's a lot more attainable than people tend to assume, so long as you are willing to put up with constant aggravation, sleepless nights, buckets and buckets of failure, and endless crippling self-doubt. :P
I spent my 40 minute train commute reading the comments in order to check this hadn't been asked before:
Is the placement of the green dragon's brush case at her waist supposed to imply that Mr Buck might be a little excited?
Obviously, I'm as amazed and in love with the picture as everyone else!

the turtle on the floor is my favorite character here...sO CUTE!!
but honestly your attention to detail, lighting, and sheer commitment to such a detailed and complicated painting blow me away * _ *
this is definately going to be big-time inspiration for me, to say the least lmAO

I’ve adored this for years, but never realized it was on FA.
Not much praise I can say that hasn’t already been said. There’s other art with lots of detail in it, but I think what makes this one so extraordinary is that it’s not just the incredible detail, it’s that the detail is so rich and meaningful. Every single one of these creatures implies a back story, at least when I look at them. Yeah, even the turtle.
I’d enjoy seeing each of the bigger students in their own setting. Starting with that dragon… wow.
Also, I only just today noticed the buck has an ankle bracelet. Does that mean he’s not truly naked?

This one took me two months and 200+ hours, though, it should be noted that this is a decade old. I've come a long way since then. I'd like to think I could do this in half the time if I tried. I would love to try and redo this one, just to see.
As for prints, alas, not at the moment. I intend to but I keep chickening out. I have a weird, pathological fear of seeing my art immortalized in real media. Not sure why. I feel like it's a control freak-related issue. But I will put up prints eventually. When I do, there will be an announcement about it. :3

Wow, that much dedication to one piece, that's professionalism and beyond. And a lot more patience than I'd ever have. All of that time, and you put it out to us for free, that's just beyond amazing, and thank you so much for doing it!!
Don't be afraid to do it, this is one of the most amazing pictures I've ever seen, it should be immortalized! A copy should be framed and hung in every life drawing class, it's that great.

This painting is actually insane
27 characters and 32 artworks ( including 9 different perspectives of the same character)
All lit and rendered perfectly
Plus all those cool little details like the teacher's apple and the wet paint sticker
And then the squirrel doing a drawing of the whole class...
This painting is bonkers and I love it
