Anthrocon
Anthrocon is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's biggest furry convention and is one of the most well-attended in-person convention throughout the entire global furry fandom. The convention is chaired by Uncle Kage (
Kagemushi). himself. Each year, it is held in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and brings in alot of money into the city, which is one reason that the city loves the convention so much! Since its arrival in 2005, Anthrocon has raised over $80,000,000 in revenue for the city! Thus far, loose talk as of 2025 claims that over $100,000,000 will be a realistic accumulation for Anthrocon to have raised for the city in all due course.

Anthrocon once again rocked the city of Anthrocon with a wild weekend! There wasn't one angry face in the whole city, as far as I could tell. Word around the city claimed that Anthrocon was projected to pull in over $20,000,000 to the city in direct spending, making Anthrocon an integral part of Pittsburgh. Welcome home!
This convention was a real race, though. I felt like I was running around alot and really couldn't sit still. Despite this, I had the honor of dancing as a VRChat dancer for Ru along Xie The Zebra, Dodge and Claire with Chief Dalmatian, and Morganite with Dracorean! HawkBird and AV were so impressed with Xie and my dancing for Run that we were invited to participate in the Meet The AV Team tour as VRChat dancers, reprising our roles and demonstrating how the equipment worked for passers-by. It was an honor, a privilege, and so very fun to be able to embrace one of my most extreme passions and demonstrate it for my fellow attendees!
I also got to see the fabled 4th of July fireworks firsthand!
The true gem of the weekend, however, was helping to host the VRChat Meet-And-Greet with the team I have had the honor of working with since 2022. We hosted the meet in Hall C, which is now the biggest venue we have ever had the honor of gathering within!
And through a lucky win at rock-paper-scissors, I was even invited to attend the staff dinner!
All things considered, in a single weekend, Anthrocon attracted 18,353 people, becoming the most well-attended in-person furry convention to date, and raised $87,267 for charity!
Next year is Anthrocon's 20th anniversary of being in Pittsburgh, so you can bet it's going to be even more grand!

Anthrocon, "Anthropolis: Our Furry City," June 28-July 2, 2023
Anthrocon celebrated its 25th birthday on this weekend, smashing its way into the open arms of Pittsburgh, of which it raised (allegedly) over $18,000,000 before the convention even started! Every business pulled out all the stops for Anthrocon, which was for me a very much-anticipated rite of passage.
I worked with a team of fine individuals, including
TJCoyote,
littlfire15, Lilithe Lotor, and
MaxtheYellowFox, to set up a portal for the VRChat Meet-and-Greet, with Roxy, TailBass, and other volunteers on the virtual side. The VRChat Meet-and-Greet was a smashing success, gaining the respect and acknowledgement from the meet-and-greet hosts from last year, who were in attendance.
Likewise, members of the media were invited to ask questions of the attendees at the Supersponsor's dinner, and the local news affiliates graced us with very favorable coverage, with several fursuiters invited into the studio during broadcasts.
Anthrocon itself smashed all of its previous records, recording 13,644 attendees (becoming the most well-attended in-person furry convention over Midwest Furfest by 3 people), over $52,000 in charity donations, and 3,127 participants in the fursuit parade!
Kagemushi made it a point to remind us, however, that we compete against ourselves to out-do our previous performance rather than each other, as the same attendees attend many conventions across the world, both in-person and virtual.
Anthrocon was an amazing run, and I'd be eager to do it all again!

Anthrocon finally returned to Pittsburgh after a three-year hiatus! This return was warmly welcomed by the entire city, with even mainstream news coverage promoting the return!
Tailbass celebrated the return by setting up a "portal" to link the VRChat community to the attendees in the real world.

This year, due to COVID-19, however, the convention went virtual, hosting platforms on Youtube via livestream, VRChat, NeosVR, Discord, and Google Meets.
The city of Pittsburgh around the convention center was rendered in unique detail using a LIDAR mapping system, while the Dealers Den was constructed in VRChat, and the interior of the building was rendered in amazing quality in NeosVR.
For three days, convention-goers tuned into the livestream, met and chatted for livestream panels and gatherings, and raised over $20,000 for charity! For those who donated to the convention as "benefactors" during registration, the convention staff sent donators a t-shirt and a badge with the tag of "Benefactor" marked upon it.
