Should I join Twitter?
My Politics and Social views are ideas that I believe work. If something does not work I call it out.
Does adult art go on Twitter?
Can there be some decent dialogue?
What are good platforms?
Can there be some decent dialogue?
What are good platforms?
Decent Dialogue? Nope. Honestly, probably not on ANY social media Site with "Likes" "Shares" and Algorithms that are designed to show you more of what you are likely to "like" and "share". Social media is DESIGNED to be an Echo Chamber, unless you choose to break out and make a splash by trolling of spewing hatred at someone or something - which is , interestingly, the behavior most likely to... you guessed it... generate "Likes" and "Shares". **sigh**
Good Platforms? I'm not sure there are any any more.
For a specific purpose, perhaps. But in general? ...MAYBE "NextDoor". Not much good for advertising furry artwork, though. ...probably.
For "decent" dialogue, most of the time you'd be better off actually sticking your dick into a hornet's nest, instead of doing it metaphorically on the twit site. There's some like-minded types on there but you usually have to wade through an ocean of general unpleasantness, no matter what. I've seen some, like shysketch, use Minds for similar purposes, but other than that I'm not up to speed with alternatives.
All I had to do was a little homework into their policies/practices to convince me I wanted nothing to do with them. Seeing what they've done over the years merely confirmed all my worse expectations.
Now, if by some miracle, Twitter/Facebook/et al somehow manages to be redeemed?
That'll be an interesting day in Hell!
Plus I know for a fact that numerous trolls and militant WOKE Furries are trying to track down my Twitter account
cause they just KNOW I have an account, cause everybody does.
Too many use Twitter for asspats and chimping out over politics and opinions. Best avoid that dumpster fire.
Twitter is where everyone went when Tumblr pooped itself. Now everyone's concerned because Elon Musk is taking over and saying a bunch of self-contradictory shit. Odds of a Twitter porn-purge are non-zero but there is nothing "on the horizon".
As an exception to the rule, with large usage of the block/lock functions, yes, sometimes.
Mythical places, to be honest. All places have positives and negatives. I recently heard that Buzzly is basically going tits-up because one dev was caught out for something and left, after which the remaining dev went power-mad despot on the platform and everyone with an account there.
Whether you should join twitter depends on how highly you value your mental health.
So No.
In answer to the matter of adult art - yes, to a rather stunning degree. If you find the artist's account (not always easy, but do-able, usually), and check in frequently (2x / week except for truly prolific sorts, which might necessitate once per day), you can see a rather endless and often satisfying amount of such, tailored by artist to your particular likes.
As for decent dialogue, this, sadly, I can safely say not a snowball's chance in the heart of a star deep in the hottest hells imaginable. The level of mental and emotional cesspool that is present, plus the rabid mindset of a majority of users desperate to defend their echo chamber via an unending onslaught of groundless personal attacks makes it a place where silence for ones' own sanity's sake is a watchword to live by. Sadly, it caters heavily to "outrage addicts", and their frothing-at-the-mouth rabid screaming responses.
This condemnation leads into an answer to the third question - good platforms. Sadly, whilst I would like to believe there are some, if there are, they are exceedingly well hidden and spoken of only in hushed whispers in the deepest middles of nowheres out of hearing of any but innocent forest creatures, for I've not found one to this day. The current ones, sadly, make me think that bathing in a large-scale toxic waste dump and setting myself aflame afterwards might be cleaner and more preferable, followed by dunking my burned and bleeding body into raw sewage as a cooling bath.
Thus, unless you're there solely for the art, do not engage with these things if it is possible to be avoided. For your own sanity's sake, do not.

I do wish you the best with it. I've never uploaded any images of my own, so, on that, I've no particular knowledge.
I figure you have better ways to waste time.
As for alternate sites, I post on DeviantART and follow artists on Weasyl, for those days when Fur Affinity is up its @$$.
But yes, adult art can go on there... but it is entirely in the air, no clue what is going on.
I have been pondering getting an account for just bookmark-and-viewing artwork like that like I had been, but I really have thought Twitter has been a dumpster-fire for years and REALLY not wanted to get involved. c.c
Twitter I've seen used by adult artists, but it is only a matter of time before it goes the way of Tumblr even with Musk taking charge of it.

Fair warning, its contents can encompass both inkbunny and furaffinity with less restrictions.
Text/Dialogue wise, there are a few funny accounts which keep getting banned. It's not worth talking to anyone there. Strangers - why bother? Friends - better places. Plus as several others have indicated, the mob of cursader woke furs will be out there enacting their divine purges and right-think monitoring.
If you want the sort of flames you've had on some of your journals, you'll drown in that sort of engagement. Very possibly you could step up from Internet Famous to making the national news. Just express some 'wrong' opinions on current events, you could blow up good.
it’s a Cancel culture paradise, where you win biggly by stirring up a hate mob to stomp on people smaller than you..
if Elon can turn it around, I wish him well.. But I’m done with the ‘social media” feeding frenzy.. I hate enough people and am hated by enough people as is.
Perhaps, if I were to use it strictly as a Gallery alternative, where I only post art and never voice my opinions?.. Maybe someday.. but for now, God Speed To any poor soul who tries. ^.-.^
“Rules for thee but not for me.”
As for adult art? There's thousands of porn accounts on there dude. You should be fine. Just remember that there's lots of political zealots here and they will roam there, too.
There is also decent dialog if you sort through the sludge, but posts are limited to 280 characters with as of now no edit button, so in many cases, nuance and context are not really communicable. While the average user tends to be the low-quality sort with the attention span of a goldfish. I personally just use the platform for shit posting and a warning cannery as to what the new 'thing' is since it inevitably is mentioned on Twitter first.
Fuck off!!
Twitter is terrible for art. Everything is aggressively compressed and anything larger than 4K is down scaled too. That said there is a ton of art, especially of the adult variety, and it is utterly littered with the terminally online, furries, and terminally online furries. Assuming you care about the compression, it can still be good for exposure or to direct people to where you actually post art. Twitter has also made it increasingly difficult for anyone not logged in to see adult content, which limits its potential usefulness to those who refuse to make one.
>Can there be some decent dialogue?
Not a chance.
>What are good platforms?
Each and every one is terrible in their own way, though some forms of terribleness are orders of magnitude easier to tolerate. Any of the Mastodon based ones are good because you can move from one to another easily. The rules on them vary, so you can either be careful to limit potential fallout should you ever get banned… or you can be lazy and make sure not to move to a more restrictive one than whatever one you use at the time.
I know they hate me but I didn't think they shared the art.
