Discrimination?

Being taught to avoid talking about Politics and Religion has led to a lack of understanding of Politics and Religion. What we should have been taught was how to have a civil conversation about a difficult topic.
>You've publicly stated that your only income is disability payments. Those dollars come from my paying taxes into the system every year, so essentially you're >offering me my own money to get something from me. That's not an option.
A person I won't name has taken this opinion against me. I am being castigated for being on assistance. Let there be no mistake I did not get my assistance for free. it cost me my left leg. I could not even apply until after the surgery. So, does anyone else feel this way? that I should not be able to spend my income where I want because of where I get it from?

*hugs the cabbit* You're awesome. You're not a freeloader.
They complain about things like free breakfasts for poor kids at school (because they don't have kids) and anything else that's community based. They have some idea about the Glorious Individual, not realizing that humans are not "lone wolves" but are instead creatures of community.
And they're poor students of history.
Some people are , I don’t know, jealous that disabled people are ‘getting things for free’ by Not Obviously Contributing. 🙄 And that we are living a life of luxury by staying home all day.
Those people aren’t worth your time. I’m on a DSP, I deserve it as a human being, and I still pay taxes like everyone else. People can’t judge until they’ve lived your life experiences >\
Imagine being jealous of a guy's few hundred bucks or so to live a life worth living, that has one less limb to work with. It's pathetic.
Take care stud, spend your money on what you want, be as happy as you can with it.
Pretty much any of the artists who did the works in my gallery, I'd recommend.
Mostly Him
Anas Abdin
I grew up in a very multi-generational community (newborns up to great-great Elders), and we had folks from practically every facet of the work force as a part of it. Some of these adults/elders were injured/wounded so of course weren't holding down full time labor jobs, but they more than filled in helping take care of all of us rugrats, or doing easier tasks which freed up the more able-bodied for other things.
The way things should be, IMHO.
Most of the $$$ we earned/received went right back into our communities/families anyway, so I don't see what the problem could be?
For folks who are slammed with accident/illness/mortality (just getting older and parts not working properly anymore), most of us entered into the 'Social Security' program whether we wanted to or not, complete with all the Federal and State taxes that were attached to our incomes. These are contracts with our govt. which gives us something of a safety net when we get old enough to retire, *OR* if we suffer an injury/illness that is beyond our control and renders us compromised.
No one, at all, from any walk of life, has the right or authority to try and shame/guilt/slander others who rely on 'Assistance' to live, and I'd take grievous issue with anyone that dared doing that to someone in my presence.
It reminds me of the stories we hear/see where someone that LOOKS able-bodied, has a handicapped parking sticker and uses one of the vehicle spaces allocated for that. So many times I've seen them picking up disabled folks, OR they have medical issues not easily visible/realized, that necessitates them being closer to the business they need to get supplies at. It isn't my business one way or the other, but that sure's hell doesn't stop many people from harping their feelings at the drop of a hat or for any reason, real or imagined.
Spending OUR $$$ on whatever the hell we want, is OUR business, no one elses. It's so far beyond rude to even try saying otherwise, I don't have the (polite) words for it. (In fact, on another person's accnt., this topic arose concerning someone buying something, that so many aren't happy about, and trying to forward their misguided opinions on what that person should be spending their $$$ on! I mean, wtf? It's THEIR MONEY!) Anyways...
Sorry to hear you're being treated this way. My suggestion, if trying to have a mature and coherent conversation with this other person, is to cut them out of your life. You don't need their BS.
Moving on.
It never made sense to me, this line of thinking. Even from, nay especially from a conservative standpoint, money is good, hustle is good. It's not tainted, it's not flavored if you trade a good for it. That's what any self respecting capitalist should want, to trade their craft for funds, simple as.
Hell, if they view it as 'their' tax money, shouldn't they want as much back as possible? Hell, if the requirement is a mere 'I paid into that pool, ergo I do not want back from it' then that would exclude every public sector employee, including the military, or even contractors for such.
It's just so short sighted, and jaded for the sake of it. There are better artists who are eager to do work for pay I'm sure.
Sorry you had to deal with that.
