CURRENT STATUS:
Fixing PC. Work is back on track though.
Random title I know.
But while working, I noticed something in the corner of my eye. A teaser trailer for a new Netflix series. Now, I stopped paying Netflix sometime ago (Increased prices and nothing I liked etc) so the news that they were making a live adaptation of one of my all time favourite franchises piqued my interest.
With dread.
Yes, I suffered through the 'Welcome To Racoon City' film that recently came out as well.
Now, I know it's only 2 teaser trailers, but from what I've seen, and read in the TV series descriptions.... it's gonna be a generic Zombie Apocalypse show. With the Resident Evil franchises' name slapped on. Look, I'm a sucker for Zombie shows. Z Nation is my guilty pleasure. If you haven't seen it, think The Walking Dead, but with goofy comedy. And Weed Zombies. Don't question the Weed Zombies.
Right now, only one canon character is known to be in it. Which happens to be one of my all time favourite corny Villains. Albert Wesker. Who is briefly shown as a caring father, who shows concerns about what they're doing in Umbrella. (Plsss don't make him a 'good guy' again....) And yes, I actually love Lance Reddick, who will be playing him. Granted, yes I know only teasers have come out. But they show more than enough details that this feels like such a generic Z show. And has none of the substance that made Resident Evil so iconic.
Might be a decent show..... if they didn't slap the Resident Evil name on it. Kinda makes it feel like they're trying to cash in on the brand, rather than the story.
I get the argument that people want something new. That's all good! Make new characters for the franchise. Give them new and unique personalities and history. But don't just then go ahead and slap on a canon character's name onto this whole new character. They did that in 'Welcome To Racoon City' (And in the other LA films tbh) and we all saw how that flopped.
I dunno. How is it so hard for these companies to make something true to the franchise? Surely it can't be THAT hard.
Weird little rant while I draw pron, don't mind me. My inner geek is crying right now.
I'll go back to drawing peens now.

Literally a 40/60 it will be anything close to decent.
