After making a Journal listing all the FurAffinity (FA) members that I could find who are from the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine (the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts), which has been dealing with the suffering of war for the last 8 years, and another Journal about the Kharkiv region immediately to the north of it which has suffered attacks continuously since the morning of 24 February 2022, I am now working on collecting info about the FA members who are in or from southern Ukraine, particularly the Russophone regions or those who live or lived near or behind what is now the 'front line' (or 'line of contact') between the Ukrainian and Russian armies. Unlike the big Journal of Ukrainian artists who need assistance/help at https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10138995/ these 'regional focus' Journals are for everyone who is/was from that region/area of Ukraine (including people who are in good financial condition and non-artists).
I hope these lists of FA members from Kharkiv, Donbas, and Southern Ukraine will make it easier for people to Watch each other and help with promotion or 'signal boosts' when someone is in trouble or a newer member needs attention. I am also hoping that some of the people in the safer western and central regions of Ukraine will take an interest in helping those in/from places like Kharkiv and the Donbas, as well as the 'front line' cities in the southern region, even if the only help some people can provide is 'signal boosts' or writing kind Comments of support.

KHERSON & ZAPORIZHZHIA OBLAST ALERT: (8 July 2022) Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk has instructed residents of the Russian-held Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions that they needed to evacuate โ even if it meant going to Russia or annexed Crimea โ because Ukrainian forces were set to โde-occupyโ the territory.
"Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereschuk made another announcement on July 10 calling on civilians to evacuate occupied settlements in Kherson and Zaporizhia Oblast before the start of Ukrainian counteroffensives, even if that required civilians to flee to occupied Crimea. Vereschuk made similar announcements on July 8 and June 20, noting that Russian forces seek to hold Ukrainian civilians as human shields to hinder Ukrainian counteroffensives along the Southern Axis." -- source ISW

For people not from Ukraine, the southern portion of Ukraine along the Black Sea is divided into different oblasts (regions, administrative areas). The easternmost of these is the Donetsk oblast, which borders Russia and contains the now infamous city of Mariupol. The next ones from east to west are Zaporizhia/Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa oblasts, ending at the mouth of the Danube river and the border with Romania (Snake Island is about 35km/20miles from the mouth of the Danube). There is also the peninsula of Crimea, which is still internationally considered to be a part of Ukraine but was invaded and annexed by Russia in 2014.
Portions of the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts (regions) are under the control of the Ukrainian government in Kyiv and portions are occupied by Russian/DPR forces, with a 'front line' that has gone back and forth somewhat over the weeks and months. For this 'regional focus' Journal, I decided to focus on these three oblasts, plus the city of Odesa (in the Odesa oblast) and the city of Kryvyi Rih (in the Dnipropetrovsk oblast) to the north, and Crimea to the south. FA members in/from the region are listed regardless of what their personal politics are or which government is currently in control of the area they are from, and regardless of whether they have left/fled to somewhere safer.

MYKOLAIV ALERT: (24 June 2022) The mayor of the southern Ukraine city of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, has urged residents of the city to leave. "I suggest everyone who wants to stay alive to leave the city. About 230,000 people remain in Mykolayiv city now," the mayor said. Evacuation routes out of the city are in the directions of Odesa, Kryvyi Rih and Kyiv (source). (update, 25 June 2022) 9 cruise missiles hit Mykolaiv on Saturday (source).

HOW YOU CAN HELP!:
<If you have any suggestions of "what people can do to help", for either locals in the region, Ukrainians in general, Russians, or for the international folks, please tell me. I am working on adding a section to the Journal about "how can I help?" for each of those groups.>
1) for locals (people in/from southern Ukraine)
-- 'Signal boost' this Journal or write your own version of it (you may use anything from this one); Write a Journal with your own personal experiences (there are people who can help with English and editing); Draw art about your town/city/region; Contact other people on the list; Watch them; Give them 'emotional support' (nice comments) & 'signal boosts' when they need help; Look for people from your area that 'go dark' (stop posting art/Journals and no new 'favorites') and check on them; Organize; If you've fled somewhere safer then provide support to the people who remained in the area; Promoting ('signal boosting') the needs of others from your region helps remind people of your own suffering and needs; Give the situation publicity, do not be silent; Draw an artwork about your region/town/city; See this regarding psychological help; See my 'mental health' Journal; See Links of interest to Ukrainians, & any who wish to help.
2) for Ukrainians ๐บ๐ฆ
-- See the 'locals' suggestions above; If you are from a safer region of Ukraine (e.g. central or western) then PLEASE HELP those artists/furries from the regions that are under attack, are near the 'front lines' or are destroyed/occupied (I have noticed some people from Kharkiv/Donbass/southern Ukraine feel forgotten or abandoned), even if all you can do is offer nice comments and 'signal boosts' or draw 'gift art'; Occasionally search to see if new Ukrainian artists are posting on FA; Direct new Ukrainian artists/furries to the appropriate support Journals where they can get attention/assistance/help (one example is the big support Journal); Look for friends & allies (wherever you can find them) and be sure to thank them; Avoid blaming large groups or whole countries, hold individual people accountable for their own actions or inaction; Read The Art of War (a roughly 5th century BC strategy book by Sun Tzu), it is still relevant (even if you are not a soldier); Draw patriotic or peace-themed artwork.

Help find psychological/psychiatric care for those still in the country; Have a conversation with someone in a 'danger area' (it can help distract and relax); Do language practice with those still in Ukraine; See these suggestions.

-- Stand with Ukraine; Learn more about Ukraine; Learn more about Donbass; Send donations to reputable organizations, click here for links; Occasionally check the big support Journal); Occasionally search; Watch Ukrainian artists; Give them 'Faves'; Give them 'moral support' (nice comments) & 'signal boosts' (links to their FA accounts and their Journals and/or Postings that describe their situation) when they need help; Order commissions; Send donations to artists/furries in need; Sign up as a $1 or $3/month patron on one Ukrainian artist's Patreon (is that too much to ask?) [for convenience, here are several/most that have a $1 tier: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 ]; See these suggestions; Help a Ukrainian with language practice; Sign petitions; Contact your country's government about what they are doing to help Ukraine and Ukrainians; Give the situation publicity, do not be silent and do not turn a blind eye to what is happening now; Enter the big raffle.
-- A SPECIAL REQUEST: It would be great if people who are now safe and able to provide assistance would help find psychologists and psychotherapists for Ukrainians who need psychological support; the free psychological lines are under a lot of pressure and they can only help superficially, but the people living in the occupied territory don't know what to do at all since there is no normal psychological/psychiatric care available there.

Quotes from some people on FurAffinity who are in/from southern Ukraine
Here are some assorted separate quotes I have read (since I started working on this Journal) that were written by people currently in or from southern Ukraine. I tried to focus on peoples' individual personal experiences and their expressed opinions. I am also trying to reflect the overall 'spirit' of the area/region. The people and their viewpoints vary and although the order is not random they should not be read as if they come from one person who was trying to tell a consistent story. Any appearance of a consistent story from their order was created by me and the order I chose for these separate quotes from different people from different towns/cities the area:

People can claim their individual quotes if they want to, but do not need to admit/claim the quotes as theirs. If someone wants me to remove their quote or to move it somewhere else in the list of quotes, please send me a Note. I tried to "tell the story" that I thought I was reading from people in the region but the "story" I wrote is not the only story that can be told and I am sure some people will not agree with parts of it. If anyone else wants to put the quotes in a different order to "tell a different story" I will probably be amused to see it, however if you want to tell your own personal story it is probably better to do that in your own Journals or in the text under one of your own artworks and just include a link to that here.
P.S. I may eventually try to make Journal(s) to highlight the other oblasts/regions that are being heavily affected by the war, including the Chernihiv and Sumy regions in the northeast, as well as the city of Kyiv, all of which saw fighting or significant missile attacks in the first two months of the invasion. Kyiv definitely deserves its own list but I am hoping someone from the city will eventually undertake that effort. Ideally people from those regions would do something like this Journal for their own region. It would also be nice to cover the remainder of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (at least a dozen artists/furries) and the reasonably safe Poltava and Cherkasy Oblasts (at least 3 artists/furries that I know of), all of which have territory east of the Dnipro river. If you would like to help (or work on any of those) please send me a Note and it will be finished much sooner.
