How to get screwed over at work:
Little background before I explain everything. I've started this job last September. Moved my way up to Assistant Store Leader a couple months ago actually. In April my boss put in his 2 weeks and left. I was open to take the position title of "Store Leader" but didn't because my District Leader (DL) would only give a .50 cent raise. How messed up is that? Ever since then I've had a coworker quit couple days after. Leaving it be only myself and my coworker to work the store. I've acted as "manager" of the store ever since. I've reached out to corporate for help regarding hiring new people or having other people from other stores come assist us but with no luck. Communication is horrible from their end and has drove me to the point of stress and insanity.
SO here's what I need to get off my chest because I couldn't make this shit up, even if I tried. Two weeks ago unfortunately I got COVID for the first time. Yea darn was hoping to go thru this whole pandemic arc without testing positive but even slimes are not immune. I told my District Leader I need to take time off. Rested up and relaxed for that duration at least I'm much better now finally. However upon reaching back out to my DL, I asked if I'm being compensated for those days I was sick. Figured I would because y'know...we're still living thru a pandemic and my bf for example, got compensated just recently for getting COVID and took time off to recover. My DL directed me to wait for a call from Human Resources (HR) and they'll handle it from there. Earlier today I finally got that call and talked to them about what day I was sick and how long I was out for. When I asked about me being covered, they told me that the company had stopped those benefits 6 months ago....and instead would use my racked up PTO hours which isn't a lot...
What. The. Fuck? I was totally unaware of this and not even told about this in the first place. I'm still pissed thinking about it and explained to HR I deserve some sort of pay for being sick. Especially since I've gone this long without getting it and I'm the only one who still wears a mask while at work. Ofc I got the JJ vaccine and boosters too as extra precaution (Had to for Denfur and another convention anyways). HR then had the nerve to direct me to the Employee Benefits hotline number to talk it out with them instead? Wait, but you guys are HR...don't you guys handle it all? Then I tried calling them and the lady was so freaking rude and impatient she told me to work it out with HR...WHO THE HELL DO I SPEAK TO THEN? Who can I even report all of this to? I'm fed up with the lies and miscommunication from higher ups. It's like I'm not worth anything to my job at all. I'm looking into other resources to see if I can prove them that they need to pay me LEGALLY for my sick days especially since it'd be 2 weeks of fulltime hours.
Uh, yea don't support GameStop.

Well that's some utter shit, I hope they receive some sort of consequence at least for doing this to you.

OP
I found out my state is still requiring companies and businesses to compensate for covered COVID leave. I'm going to reach out again and prove it to them. If not yea I hope they have it coming for them.
