I prefer to read via description, but I have no issues with downloading a story. If it is going to improve the story by downloading it, then I vote that method for sure.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm gonna do both. Post stories in description but have stuff available for download or on google drive for if I do some hypnosis stuff in addition.

The main thing i want in stories is being able to read in dark mode, that takes precedence over being able to read online. I can do this with PDFs and regular HTML pages, unsure about Google Docs, and downloading .docx files *kinda* works but requires me to invert the whole screen with the word processor open, which is annoying.

I love the fancy formatting you do btw! Reminded me of House of Leaves in a good way (where sometimes the typography is used to rack up tension, with very few words per page, or requiring you to turn pages backwards or to rotate the book).

Hey! House of Leaves is my favorite book!!! I really wanna write hypnosis in that style but I've been shying away from it as of late due to it being so time-consuming to format. I'm sure I'll come back to it eventually.

Have you thought about trying Twine games / interactive fiction? I'm er not at all sure but i suspect you'd be able to use CSS formatting with those, so you can do animated effects ppl can view in-browser? (As well as making them re-playable with branching paths, of course.)

Yeah HoL was fun, the only other thing i've seen like it was this very old scifi novel um The Demolished Man where how telepaths read others' thoughts was rendered as jumbled text fragments on the page. It's a very fun effect though, shame it's seen as gimmicky or whatever. .. i guess comics do it a lot too, tho i've not read many.

I've thought about the possibility of interactive narratives. I'd need to figure out a system that works best for me though. Also haven't tried any myself lol
