This should have been posted on Monday, but somehow the week got away from me. So maybe my postings will be on Wednesday nights from here on out...

Anyway, the first thing that struck me about this image was the lighting/atmosphere. The subtle back-light on the characters and the translucent grass, combined with the twilight colors really capture the sense of late summer when the air is still warm, but there's a sense that autumn is coming.

Secondly the realistic way in which the impala ladies are rendered. Capturing expression on an animal face isn't the easiest task, (even more difficult with less stylized depictions). The impala's look of serene intelligence blends perfectly with the animal realism.

Great image, spectacular atmosphere and lighting. Makes me wish it was still summer...
