Free Writing Workshop - Words to Worlds
Ayy! I suggested a writing workshop last week and I’m happy to see quite a number of you guys interested. As such, we’ll be going through with it! If you’re looking to start writing, come and join the “Words to Worlds” workshop! I’ll be covering the basics of writing, then moving on to higher-level tips and tricks I’ve learnt over the years. Even if you’re an experienced writer, I’m sure there’s stuff you’ve never learnt before, because I came up with some of these techniques myself :D
If this sounds interesting to you, carry on reading!
Pre-requisites
To take this course, you will need:
• Grasp of basic English (sentence structure, simple grammar, etc).
• A Discord account.
• A Google Docs account (highly recommended to make it easier for me to give feedback).
Syllabus
The lessons will be 1-hour sessions over Discord each week on Sunday at 9PM SGT (UTC+8).
Week 1 (13 May): First Steps
Week 2 (20 May): Setting the Scene
Week 3 (27 May): Writing Characters
Week 4 (3 Jun): Character Interactions
[2 weeks break]
Week 5 (24 Jun): The Movie Method
Week 6 (1 Jul): Building Tension
Week 7 (8 Jul): Hook Your Readers
Week 8 (15 Jul): More Techniques
Week 9 (22 Jul): Worldbuilding
Week 10 (29 Jul): Plot and Pacing
Week 11 (5 Aug): Beyond Stories
Week 12 (12 Aug): Wrapping Up
Bring-Home Exercises
Just as watching art tutorials doesn’t make you an artist, attending my lessons won’t turn you into a good writer. You need to practice in order to get a grasp of the skills you’d be learning, and to find your Writer’s Voice.
There will be exercises after each class to practice the lessons taught, but I’ll keep them short and manageable. I recommend allocating 1 hour a week for this, but you can definitely work on it for longer if you feel inspired to expand on the idea.
Registration
The workshop is free of charge! Sign up with this form and join the Discord for updates. We’ll see you in class!

OP
Hmm, why don't you try installing it first and giving it a go? I found it fairly intuitive when I first used it, and Discord's website has pretty good instructions if you get stuck
