It's just "Luvtail" now!
I just want everyone to know that I'm ditching the "Aussie" part of my character/fursona/online persona's name. It's just Luvtail from now on!
A little bit of history for those that don't know. When I first discovered the furry fandom it was in 2008 via a forum for an American webcomic called Concession by Immelmann, and shortly after I made a Furaffinity. I first toyed with "Mriya" which was the name of the Antanov AN-225: the largest aircraft in the world until it was sadly destroyed in the Ukraine war. But that was a rubbish idea because it was too hard to spell/search, and it was also foolish to base my identity around the name of a foreign plane I'd never even see, so I went with "Aussie" because at the time I was the only Australian on that very small forum, or certainly the most active one. After attending my first furry convention however (MidFur, January 2012) and I introduced myself as "Aussie", the response was invariably "Aussie who?" I should have realized earlier that this name wouldn't work well in my own country, but I didn't even realise that there was such a big Australian furry scene until 2012. So I came up with the name Luvtail, but because at the time I was attached to the nickname Aussie I didn't want to ditch it entirely, so I made it a surname rather than just my name. It was a silly decision, I should have just transitioned completely straight away, but lesson learned.
So from now on I'll just go by Luvtail. That's my fursona name, what you can call me in person, and the name of my fursuit(s). I would of course love to change my Furaffinity name as well, I'm still (slightly) holding out hope that they'll someday introduce a name change feature. In the meantime though I've made a Luvtail account here, just to prevent someone else stealing the name out from under me. I suppose I should probably abandon this account and start uploading there instead, but I... don't want to, lol. It's just so much hassle to migrate all my watches across, even if I didn't decide to upload my entire collection of art from this account and the old Mriya account in chronological order, which would be a nightmare since there's easily more than a thousand of them by now (14 years of buying commissions will creep up on you!) And even if I did it would still be a shame to delete this account and lose my history of notes and favs and of course all the lovely comments people left at the time, some of whom are sadly no longer alive. I'll stick with this account for now, out of apathy if nothing else.
In terms of life updates, it was my birthday yesterday, I'm 32 now! I'm working on a story that will hopefully be ready for Halloween this year, it's up to 25K words so far and will probably get close to 30K by the time it's done. I'm actually considering putting it up on Gumroad with some special unreleased art I've commissioned from EmiTheGoat to sweeten the deal, so let me know what you think about that! I don't have Patreon and probably never will, so a one off purchase seems like the fairest way, it also allows me to give a percentage to the artist and give them some extra revenue on top of what I paid for her art; this isn't about making money for myself.
Happy birthday I guess, and thanks for reading!

option for users to change their username ... back in February 2021.
As of June 2023, we still have no recent updates regarding this.
I feel ya on being hesitant to migrate to a new account. I've done that once and it was quite a pain in the patoot, and that was just reposting all of my commissions, never mind re-watching everyone. So I don't blame ya on not changing, but here's hoping that FA one day gets off its collective butt and actually gives us the name change option.
And happy birthday to ya! I hope you had a wonderful day, and may your 32nd year be a great one! And ooh, Halloween story! I'll be looking forward to that, too! (It's already my all-time favorite holiday, so it's nice to have even more to look forward to this year.)
Definitely keen to see your works, however it comes :)
fwiw, the Aussie part of your username is a good indicator that you're from australia at a glance for those who are as well. So its not all bad.
Interesting how, much like you, I ended up on this here site due to Concession! Twas my entry into the fandom.
