Merry Christmas
Winter is often a time I dread. I have eczema, a skin condition that makes my skin more sensitive to certain textures and more prone to drying out. In the warm summer, I’m fine, but in the cold winter, my skin begins to dry out, crack open, and bleed.
Despite this, Christmas is still a happy holiday. I love giving gifts to people and have a huge mountain of wrapped presents in my bedroom, awaiting the tree we have yet to erect. Cutting it close, I know. But I truly do love that. I put thought into my presents, be they gags or legitimate, and I gave one of my friends an early present, seeing as how I wouldn’t see him Christmas Day, and here’s how it went:
He removed the paper from the expertly wrapped package, it glided clean off, like pulling the drapes to an open window. It glanced at it for a moment.
“Oh man…” he barely mustered, looking at the reflective casing of his new gift; a collection of the greatest films featuring martial artist legend Bruce Lee.
“Thank you.” He said as he quickly ran up and hugged me, catching me off-guard. “This is awesome!”
He pulled back from his big whilst I stood there dumbfounded, trying to regain my lucidity.
“Yeah,” I said, awkwardly. “I wasn’t expecting that.”
“Sorry.” He apologized, realizing he invaded my personal space. “Man thanks. How did you know?”
“I just figured, but I didn’t know you’d react like this.” I paused. “Merry Christmas.”
“Thank you.” He repeated. “Merry Christmas to you too.”
Thank you for listening, and Merry Christmas.
