On using my art for yourself
Well, what do I have to say...
-Copied from the rules on my discord server-
Since there have been some questions about using my art as references or bases I wanted to write some clarification on how I handle this.
I have 2 categories of art, Personal and Commissioned/Copyrighted.
In my sketch folders this is indicated by a ‘COM’ in front of the artwork, if it has that it was either a commissioned piece or contains a character owned by somebody else.
In the case of my personal art I essentially give full “Creative Commons” rights to them.
You are allowed to use them as reference, use them as a base, trace it or even outright take and edit the sketch to your liking.
The only thing I would ask for is to be credited with a nod to my FurAffinity page or a direct link to the original sketch on DropBox or the monthly compilation it was in. This is to both give credit and in some cases show what the original was.
On ‘COM’ Sketches it is a bit different since there is “ownership” of the image.
If I drew it as a commission the buyer OWNS the image and is in their full rights to do whatever they like with it so allowing the “CC” like license would be at their discretion.
With gifted images it is the same as I would at best only have “partial ownership” of the image but for the most it is owned by the recipient.
The same applies to "reposting" my art. I am 100% OK with my art being posted on other pages such as e621 as long as credit is given and ideally linked back to the original.
Also if you want to make an edit to a picture purely for your own private use and don’t intend to post it anywhere I similarly say go ahead. If you really liked a picture but a small part of it bothered you I see no issue in editing it for your own liking.
Anyways that is how I stand on this.
Do what makes you happy ^..^

You seem very reasonable about all of this. I respect your mature tone. ^_^

Hehe thanks, I do my art to have fun and for others to enjoy, if I can give a bit more joy to people at no cost to myself hey why not ^..^

I once had an "artist" trace over several of my pics, including commissions, and post them under his name, so not only I admire you for being open with the use of your art (with boundaries) but I can understand the complications of it.

Yea, I am full OK with others using my pics as they please as long as they don't pawn it off as their own. Hell I am fine with others using it as bases for commissions as long as they are honest where they got it from.
