Status Update: Caught up! (sorta)
Phew, finally up to date on sharing all the art I've done over the past year or so, barring any mistakes or ones that I forgot. Hopefully can keep on top of it a bit better this time around and upload new art more or less within a week or so after finishing. Knock on wood.
Still gonna be busy for a while though. I have a lot of commissions to do and, despite the price adjustments, I still need to dedicate most of my available energy to those in order to make up for lost time in the past. It would also be good to be ahead of the game in general, as I have come to terms with the fact that burnout happens anyways despite my best efforts and I can save myself a lot of heartache and financial anxiety if I'm already prepared for those.
It'll remain a balancing act; I want to be responsible and prioritize work first, but also want to avoid souring myself on art in general by totally neglecting personal art done for my own sake. Having said that, I remain optimistic: since my last update I've been able to work hard and make solid, consistent progress without feeling like I've pushed myself too far (though I admit some days are a bit too 'packed' for my liking). It feels like years of struggle and introspection have slowly paid off and I'm just now finally figuring out how to actually do things on my own. Its a nice change of pace, though I also acknowledge this kind of energy can come and go and want to be able to see any setbacks that come as temporary rather than a sign I've totally failed. Thanks again to everyone who's been kind, patient and supportive to me. It's been a lot of help <3
Now that I've got a bit more breathing room, I'm hoping to dedicate a bit more mental energy to stuff like Patreon or similar such things again. Even a small amount of money would help ease some of my remaining worries about keeping up with my bills (grumble grumble decade-old student loans grumble), and I think I have a few ideas that would make it 'worth it' to potential patrons without either intruding on the time and energy I would normally spend on commissions anyways, or pay walling off a lot of my art.
Right now I'm considering polishing up my personal sketchpages I do for self-indulgent stuff and offering those, or maybe giving patrons a vote in which of my own side projects I focus on. I might do a deeper dive into my plans for such things later on in a journal entry or on discord or something, but for now I'm just letting you know I've got this on my mind
I've also heard from friends that Patreon is cracking down on NSFW work, so if that doesn't work out I'll need to consider alternatives. I'll worry about the specifics of which site I use when I actually get to that point though.
