Status Update: Patreon's Back! See New Stuff!
Another batch of uploads, another status update. Getting right to the point here and save the personal stuff for later:
(fair warning, content is a bit sparse for now but will be rectified soon. Details below)
It’s back up and running, though with revamped benefits and perks. $2 Patrons can see Patreon-exclusive sketchpages and alternate art, with new ones created at a minimum of once per month. If possible I'll try and do more than that but its not something I can guarantee.
$5 Patrons can also vote on monthly polls to decide what projects I'll work on in the coming month.
As of now (03/24/24) there's only one batch of alt art + one poll for March, and a sketchpage on its way before the end of the month. I'll try and get extra stuff done in the next few months so that your subscription comes with a bit more value to start, but for now early adopters should be aware of this. For those that subscribe anyways to help me out financially, I am extra deeply grateful to you.
I’m open to the idea of adding higher tiers, or more perks to existing tiers. This does depend a bit on how helpful Patreon will be to my current financial struggles though. I am pretty invested in making this at least reasonably successful, so if there’s any feedback you can give to improve this or make it more worthwhile to you as a Patron, I would greatly appreciate anything you can share whether you subscribe or not.
While I will likely upload fewer sketches to FA/Twitter in the future, I intend to keep the majority of my content freely available. Commissions and personal art will continue be uploaded to my galleries.
I am aware that Patreon is getting a bit finnicky about what they allow on their website. I’m hoping I can avoid any complications this has, though even if the worst case scenario I’ll just migrate to another website like SubscribeStar.
There's a few minor updates regarding commissions and art trades.
1. Slightly Stricter Upcharge/Design Pricing for Commissions
Commissions are progressing steadily, though the time/effort investment vs. pricing is still falling short for what I need to pay my bills. I am hoping Patreon will help enough so that I can keep my prices from going up across the board, but either way I will need to be a bit more strict with up-charging for time consuming things like constant edits, complexity, size, designwork, etc.
I’ll include designwork in the default price of a commission, though I will refund that fee if the commission process is quick and easy and minimizes the extra work I need to do. In more specific terms: Commission plan finalized in one session instead of changed multiple times, no extra design work or research needed to be done by me (outside of basic things like poses), and no more than one batch of minor revisions needed.
I’ll make doubly sure to communicate expectations with new clients so that any such upcharges will not come as a surprise, and if you want to make sure prices are low just let me know and I can give suggestions and guidelines for your commission plan so it minimizes the amount of extra work I need to do and keep things cheap. I will try to update the commission sheet soon so it has this information.
2. I’m not taking any art trades for the foreseeable future.
They are a lot of fun for me and I love both giving and receiving art from others, but unfortunately the financial and time management situation has made it extremely difficult to do them while also keeping up on work. Often they wind up being just as stressful as they are fun. I hope to change this in the future, but for now this is the situation I am dealing with.
Okay, so for personal stuff,
Things have been going pretty well this year for the most part so far but, as you may have gathered from the preceding parts, I’m still struggling quite a bit with income. Every day I become a little more efficient and productive, but it’s a slow process and the bills care not for my pace of improvement. I’m hoping Patreon will help cover that a bit so I don’t need to stress so much about it or change my prices much, though we’ll see how this turns out.
I’ll redouble my effort to organize myself so I can keep my galleries and such updated more often. It’s a lot better than last year, but I do want to make it at least a pinch more regular.
Still feeling pretty optimistic despite any setbacks, so hopefully the coming year turns out well for me. Thanks again to everyone who supports me, whether its financially though commissions/subscriptions or just being there for me emotionally when I need it. <3
