DeviantART has been sucking balls like Hungry Hungry Hippos ever since that stupid "Eclipse" update. The inconsistent censorship like what you've had here has always been a problem (though it seems like its gotten worse over time) but now the site's UI is a bitch and a half to use for browsing, posting, and organizing things. it just doesn't feel the same anymore and it honestly makes me sad.

The problem with deviantart, is they rely on moderators who pick and choose what and who to enforce the rules. It's extremely hypocritical of them, and why I never really decided to post there. And yes, their UI sucks like a nuclear-powered hoovermatic.

it's more of people reporting your works on da with masses than deviantart itself flagging your works, but if your arts has genitals involved and specifically dicks, deviantart alone will flag it

i remember they promoted nsfw artists once as a section for tutorials that draw berries tf and inflatation, probably they got called out or got gaslighted since then, so far like i said, if the drawing includes cocks, censor them and you'll be fine, but other than that having a good community in fa or bsky or any other site than da, you feel like da isn't suiting, leave them rot but keep it active in the literature posting so some people who know you there could be updated about your posts in the other socials, good luck in what you do also

DA has been going downhill for some while and after the Eclipse "update" it started to really show how they do not care about their users all they care about these days is advertisers.
Fun story: I can't use DA since late 2020 when they basically put me in some sort of "view only" mode where I can't interact in any way. No comments, no new watches, can't even save ai generated image using their ai. Only thing I can do is unwatch. And when I wrote them about it their answer was basically: "Your email provider is often used by spammers. Please go make gmail account and than tell us about it so we can unblock you." WTF my email provider is the most used one in my country (I've had that email account for over 20 years)... do you not care about millions of potential users you just blocked? That was pretty much last drop and I do not really care about DA anymore, there are only handful of people I still watch that are not here or on discord.

Or maybe they're singling you out personally rather than having broad rules? A lot of folks have anti-fans that will hound them and report their anything anwhere where reporting is a thing. Sometimes, things that get reported are taken down automatically without anyone looking, especially if there's a lot of reports, or the person has a lot of work that gets reported, and both of those are things folks can fake for a cyber-attack.

I wonder if it's just that my stuff isn't *painterly* enough, like, I draw things that look like comics in the paper, not lush phantasmagorias that look like painstaking amalgams of the works of Jan Vermeer, Thomas Kinkade and Boris Vallejo. Which, as it happens, is one thing AI art machines are good at.
