Hot Take Regarding Animals and Hypocrisy
I wonder how many people this is gonna piss off, or if anyone is even going to see this?
Now first and foremost, I'm not saying this in support of zoophiles. I'm not giving them an outlet to fly their flag- this is just a position that has sat with me for years and a recent journal I read went off on it and left me pissed off.
So here it goes:
If you hate on Zoos and partake in any of the other societal norms that cause trauma or pain to animals, you're an absolute hypocrite and you really need to check yourself. What do I mean?
Hunting - Straight up killing an animal. Bullshit. Bull. Shit. If you think being bumped by a dog is worse than murdering a cow or a deer your loony.
Supporting the meat industry - Have you SEEN how much hurt animals go through to make your chicken Sammy? But that kinda mental abuse is a-ok. Because you get to eat your juicy hamburger or steak still.
Spaying/Neutering - This one really ticks me off. I get the thought behind it is for supposed to be good and helping, but how much hurt would you feel if someone just came along and ripped out your testicles or ovaries? Probably pretty bad. Hurt, betrayed, etc... And to counter the "oh it controls the animal population" here's a novel idea - Be a good fucking owner and keep an eye on your dog or cat so they don't go getting pregnant.
There's more but I'll leave it at that. I'm just tired of seeing, for like the 10th time in what feels like a week, another "Zoos are bad" post because I'm sure that the majority of people who make those journals do at least 1 of these things (not all, I'm sure there's some standup vegans who champion all things animal welfare and if they want to make a Zoo-negative post, I'm all for that). But I'm tired of these people on their high-horse eating their cow-abuse burger chastising someone cause they let a pent-up dog hump their leg.
Alright that's it.

About meat industry - well it's complicated by many ways and things but first thing is that some people MUST eat meat. Because only meat holding so needed nutrients for human bodies because not ALL of humanity is vegans. Yes it's hard and painful to see how merciless they are doing it on their meatgrinders but if they will not do this then someone other will do. Or someone think that there can be not so painful way to cook a hamburger or steak that help human to be grown normal and HEALTHY if he eats it in normal amounts.
About spaying/neutering - same, if your dog impregnated dog of your neighboor then why exactly YOUR dog should be castrated? It means YOU was a BAD owner and not taking a good look after your pet !!!AND!!! it's fault of your NEIGHBOOR or someone else owner WHOSE pet was impregnated! Because they was let it to happen not showing any sign of interes in own pet life until he/she got someone pregnant/raped. It's fucked up! Owners should watch their pets and be a LITERALLY BESTEST owners for your pets. Yes I will not like if my dog/cat will impregnate someone or get pregnant !!!BUT!!! it WILL NOT happen if I will look enough after my pets so everyone will be fine because I already tired seeing owners that sterilizing their puppirs right after a first day of buy. It's really fucked up. Sterilization is NOT a way to be a nice owner, it's just a way to reduce your OWN FAULT of being NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR PET LIFE.
Sorry just it was my soul screaming because i accept some things and not accepting others but I hope my point of view is noticed.
I do agree to a point on the food thing. There may be people who do require meat for health reasons and such and I don't wish pain or suffering on them, it's not their fault their body works that way... But there's so many better ways to go about supporting and consuming meat - Buying pasture raised, free-range, and privately owned cattle and chickens and such. These animals live much more comfortable and happy lives. It still hurts that they are raised solely to be killed, but at least the time they spend alive is spent comfortably, without abuse, and with the ability to do what they want up until that point.
I completely agree with what you're saying on spaying/neutering. It's just an excuse for pet owners to be lazy and careless about the creatures they supposedly care about. If they really do care about their pet, they would understand that the animal wants to keep what they're born with and its cruel to take that away from them. They would learn to keep their pet growing safe and healthy while still keeping their balls or ovaries.
Your point of view is completely heard, bud! All great points you have made, and I'm happy to see others who feel the same about spaying and neutering that I feel. It's abuse in its own way but people seem to think it's okay and the "right" thing to do. It's hypocritical for someone accuse others of abuse when they openly support a form of it themselves.
