Magykit habitat, life, and culture

Habitat
Magykits inhabit large underground burrows called warrens. The Warrens are dimly lit by bioluminescent mushrooms and small magical floating orbs of light. Within the center of these warrens grow a magical tree. The tree grows through the opening of a naturally formed underground cavern. The top of the tree sprouts out of the ceiling of the burrow into the upper world. The tree is sacred to the magykits and is believed to be where they get their magical powers from.
Life span and culture
Magykits are able to be reincarnated if they die before adulthood. When this happens they are reborn as a crystal touched and possess more magic and a closer bond with the great tree; along with a crystal like mutation. This is believed to be due to the strong bond and shared magical connection to the great tree and in turn their goddess that all young magykits possess. Their coming of age ceremony is when they sever this tie with the tree to no longer borrow its power but to then use their own to protect it. In doing so they no longer have the ability to be reborn as crystal touched. During the ceremony the young magykit takes on their adult name, and is no longer referred to as a kit, their portrait is added to the scrolls to document their presence in the warren. This ceremony is celebrated once a year as that years kits chose to become adults. The age of a magykit has less to do with the time that they become an adult in the eyes of their warren and more to do with when they feel it is time to transcend. A kit cannot leave the warren both due to cultural and magical barriers. Many young adult magykits venture out of the warren in search of adventure, knowledge, or magical items shortly after their coming of age.
When an adult magykit dies in the warrens they are laid to rest at the roots of the great tree to join their goddess and their magic passed on. If one dies outside of a warren the keeper of the tree can feel the loss of life and then organizes members to retrieve the body so their fallen brethren can be laid to rest at the roots of the great tree. Even if it is not within the deceased original warren.
Culturally magykit has little need want or through for clothing. It is not uncommon for a maykit to live their entire life having never worn clothes. However it is common for magykit who have spent time among other races to adopt clothing and even enjoy fashion. Articles like bandannas, shawls, and aprons are exceptions and common in the warrens.
Magykit are born from crystal eggs that form in the roots of the tree after a mating pair have completed a ceremony to bring new life into the world. Due to the magical nature of magykit reproduction a mating pair is not limited to female x male pairs. As such there is no discrimination for homosexuality or other sexualities. Magykit however do not form mating pairs with non magykit while living in the warrens, only when they are exploring outside do you see couples of mixed species.
Very rarely is a non magykit allowed to enter the warrens and only ever under dire circumstances. The magyki as a society view the warrens as a sacred space made only for them.
Magykit eat mushrooms, small underground animals and fish as their main food source. Most warrens have vast mushroom farms but lack in meat farming opting for hunting and fishing for those sources, however it is not unheard of for some to raise small game as food.
