An update on things.
Hey everyone. Thought I post an update journal.
Admittedly, don't want to start on a heavy note, and I'll keep it brief since I think everyone has said what needed to be said. Dragoneer's passing was nothing short of sad and shocking. I couldn't sleep, booted up my PC, went to FA, and I saw the headline. All I could say was "...Holy shit." And after reading up what happened to him, I wanted to drink, which I didn't have. I very seldomly drink, and never had much of a reason, but that, that was horrifying to read. He did not deserve that.
Never talked to him, only know things here and there, but I do know how much of an impact he had on FA and the furry community in general. Rest in peace.
COMMISSIONS
I admit that I've been in a bit of a creative slump lately. And I know why. That being said, I am going to try and force myself to keep going, cause I want to get it all done. For that reason, I'm closing commissions until I get everything done. Not only that, but I'm gonna start making some changes to benefit me and clients. I do want to update my ToS to be better written and with some updates. I have noticed that some artists use Trello to help them with commissions, so I might look into that later on too. I'm most likely gonna ask for some feedback and advice later on as well.
PRODUCTIVIITY & BURNOUT
As mentioned, in a bit of a slump. Besides not drawing much for myself like we talked about a while ago, there's also things like perfectionism, overthinking, and in some cases, trying to do too much at once.
I have been trying to use the Pomodoro Technique to help with my productivity, and it has helped. Problem is that I don't always commit to what you're supposed to do like stopping when the timer says, getting back to work after your break is up, or forgetting to turn on the timer. I need to do better, cause it definitely has helped with doing commissions. There were also times (including recently) I tried to do force myself to work on multiple commissions a day using the Pomodoro Technique. Bad idea. Really bad. I don't even think most professionals subject themselves to this (willingly at least). Best to just do one at a time, eh?
Admittedly a long time ago, I did find myself falling into the rabbit hole of YouTube videos that focused on productivity, morning routines, habits, etc. Won't deny there's some good information that I do want to use, but...it can be a bit much. I'd be surprised if some of the YouTubers that talk about it actually stick to their strict routines.
My sleep cycle has also been really screwed up. I'm a bit of an night owl sometimes, but staying up late often and only getting a few hours is not good for your health. I know what to do to fix it, cause they have worked in the past. Plus I want to keep medicine as a last resort.
ART IN GENERAL
For a while I've had some ideas stewing in my head that I want to get started on. For one, I need to work on up to date pictures of Jay, both versions. I'm 100% sure I mentioned this already, but another thing involving Jay I want to work on is drawing him in different themes. Even though I don't play games like Overwatch and League (love Arcane though. Excited for season 2), I really like the skins and splash art that artists create for them. I've been thinking I should do something similar with Jay, drawing him in different themes.
Another thing I want to do is do some muscle fan art, but especially for characters that I like that might not have that much art of them either because they're obscure, overshadowed, or it's just an odd idea. I have some characters in mind already. Part of me wants do to this is because a lot of artists, especially on Patreon, tend to focus on characters that already have huge followings or because they're the next big thing. Nothing wrong with that, but I've seen characters on Patreon polls that are underrated, but gets heavily outvoted by the character of the month.
Still bitter that one artist I like had Porunga on his poll, and yet he got last place. To be fair he did have bara humans on there too, but still. :P
Honestly, I've thought about maybe opening up a Patreon or something as a tip jar (no paywalls!) and using that as a possible selling point. I guess the idea isn't completely scrapped, but not something I plan to do anytime soon.

I think that's it. I'll post more if I have something to announce or something. Take care!

I hope things work out for you, Jay. Your art talent honestly impresses me. You've gotten so incredible at nurturing your skills. I honestly hope I can reach a similar level at some point. ^ ^
