As someone who had nearly the same happen only a few months ago I'll say it's going to be rough, but it gets better over time. Just remember that the good memories will start to feel better as time marches on.

My condolences, I never got the chance to say goodbye to my Great Grandmother when she passed, despite the fact that the doctors went against her DNR(despite the fact that they were just doing their job). Although I was only in my early teens and it happened while I was in school. So there wasn’t much I could do there.

But know what it’s like losing loved ones as I had to be there for my grandmother as I watched my Grandfather as he breathed his last breath before passing. He passed just 9 hours before what would have been his 76th birthday and a week before what would have been his and grandmother’s 50th wedding anniversary.

**Hugs** I'm so sorry. I know what it's like to lose a Mom. They were a big part of your life, that to see them gone is unbelievable and impossible to fathom. Take it from me, when my Mom died over 16 years ago, it was not only "the end of an era," as my Dad called it, it was truly the worst night of my entire life up to that point. The best thing you can do now, is keep her in your heart and memory. Remember her. Remember the love and joy she gave you in your life. Keep those memories alive in your mind and heart for as long as you live. She'll always look over you in spirit.

Lost my dad at the beginning of the year, he was in hospice for a few days, awake for the first 2, asleep for the last 2. At least he's no longer in pain, same for your mom (assuming). Going peacefully and painlessly is the best way.
