Anyone have any recs for a new monitor?

My main monitor died and I'm gonna have to get a new one. No way around it. My secondary is a tiny, 20yo POS sustained only by some kind of magical necromantic fuckery so that's not an option. Right now I'm struggling with analysis paralysis.

ASUS is a good brand. In a home with five desktop PCs, my brother and I built all of them with ASUS motherboards. How are their monitors? I bought the Acer in a hurry but have no complaints; if I could have shopped around I'd be typing this on an ASUS very similar to the one you linked.
My other monitor is so big it lives in the basement. It is a 32" Samsung curved screen but it's still only 2K. I bought it when I was a Systems Analyst working with code and forms all day; that's all I needed. My employer said they'd reimburse me up to $200 for 'necessary' home office equipment. $199.98 before sales tax. Hello, new monitor!
Some though, though. Worth finding some good tests with colorimetry for the monitor of choice, or even what specific model of LCD panel is used and see it's specs.
I've seen mentions that matte screens supposedly have worse color quality. Can't say i noticed it, but i did notice how annoying glossy glare is.
And be careful with "gaming" monitors, they may do funny things with colors. Also, 100500 refresh rate has zero use in art.

But since you are artist, VA matrix is the way to go for you.

Genenerally my favourite monitor manufacturer is Dell when it comes to needing good resolution and colour accurecty.
Below 30 inch I wouldn't go for 4K, just 2K.
If you can, get one with an IPS panel.
Note what ports the version your are buying has and whether or not it comes with a stand of storts. Don't want to get one and then wait for a stand you need to pay more for or not be able to connect to your computer.
Thankfully, my old HP came in clutch & saved the day. I ended up doing a bit of research to find something that'd fit my space limited setup that didn't cost me too much at the time. What I got is a nice screen if you don't mind it being curved (or claiming it's for gaming).

It's a solid monitor w/ a bunch of options - VGA, D-Port, like 2 HDMIs or something. The color is fairly accurate from the what I can tell. I use it for everything but gaming and it works for what I need when I'm knee deep in color stuff. Only downside is the included stand sucks but that's an easy fix if you have something better to use w/ it.
Good luck w/ your monitor hunt! = )
Personally I'd suggest an IPS screen with mini led if you can find one.
That'll give good colour representation and the mini LEDs provide good contrast levels :)
what's your budget?
are you looking for a standard-issue computer monitor (in my own opinion, 32" is the sweet spot), or might you be open to working with a (hopefully dumb) television?
(my 58", 60hz sam's club special from 2021 is still hanging in there โ mostly fine, besides the intermittent flickering; and, like with most modern televisions, the fact its audio output.. ..isn't)
have you asked some other artists (whose works you enjoy) what they use, bobbie-j?
(she even has "ProArt" in the name)
you'll likely know, within 15 minutes, whether you got yourself a winner
Not having water or heat in the middle of winter made it unlivable. We brought JD to my mother's house. At that point, Kitty decided the trailer was abandoned (it wasn't and there's supposed to be a grace period which was nowhere near exceeded). She sent her henchasshole to clear out JD's shed. Again, unprompted and unasked, the same neighbor from before mentioned that she saw Kitty's henchasshole go into the shed one night (which had been locked).
As luck would have it, Kitty died (car crash, I think). We couldn't prove what-all was in that shed anyway and JD's lawyer advised us that suing Kitty's estate could take years and probably wouldn't be worth it. Apparently, Kitty's reign of terror was so notable as to have caught the attention of Senator James Skoufis- not that he ever did anything about it to my knowledge.
We lost a few thousand dollars worth of property, some of which was irreplaceable.
TL:DR: I used them. They were great. Then they got stolen.
I can't recommend it TBH. The top is a little yellower/darker and the bottom is a little lighter/bluer. It's also overly sharp even at 0% sharpness. I doubt it's going to have a significant impact on my work (or I hope not anyway) but I expect better for a monitor recommended specifically for artists. I wouldn't say it's bad but I can't really say it's good either. For 250$, it suffices.
