Hi! Marty here with the week 7 results! If you want to see the in depth recap of the Thanksgiving game between DWN and ATX, go check it out in our gallery! : https://www.furaffinity.net/view/59005980/
and here the rest:
- Thanksgiving weekend starts in California, as the Bandits make their way to face the Demons. In a game where the Demons were fighting tooth and nail to get back to a respectable record, Even with the great efforts of their returning QB Kiedo Masquarde ( 306 passing yards, 2 TDs, no turnovers), the Bandits seemed to be one step ahead of them. The Bandits made a combined effort to run the ball effectively against the Demons’s defensive line, as Rit-Wicky and Stapler earned some rushing touchdowns. What really broke the game in the third quarter was a splendid 95 yards punt return from Arnold Tarbour, when the game was 24-20 Vegas. The Demons did not give up, getting a late TD with a 2 point conversion, but the Bandits iced the game with a late FG kick. Vegas wins a thriller 34-28.
- In Chicago, a heavyweight division bout was happening as the Outlaws squared off against the Royal. It was a scrappy affair as both teams knew each other well and was nothing going to give themselves an inch. While Tremblay was injured, Montreal did have Ligustica back, but Chicago was ready to face him and walled him the whole game, as most of the attacks was done in the air, and also a great kicking contest between Thalia Perez and Skye Crista. Montreal was up 13-10 at Halftime, but eventually, Chicago just showed gritty guts and managed to get one TD pass from Darius Smith in the third and shout things down in the second half, where the Royal had nothing. Chicago won the slugfest 20-13.
- In Nashville, it was a clash of rookies that was about to be interesting. The Tuts were having momentum with Roman Oliviera as the Quarterback and was 2-0 when he was scoring a TD. They needed all the help they needed, as they welcomed the Defiant, with star rookie Emi Tachibana. Both did all they could to bring their A game, but Emi was a little more accurate and effective but while Roman did make mistakes, the New York pass rush was intense and the Tuts had to rely on their running game to keep it close. They were neck and neck in the end, where Nashville led by 1 point with 2:24 left in the game, but New York kicker Emmett Smith capped up a great game, kicking his 5th field goal to get the Defiant over the edge, Defiant wins 22-20.
- Back in Colorado, an important divisional game was going on, as the Dragons were trying to get back into winning ways against the Crushers. Both teams presented a stout defense as in typical fashion the Dragons tried to bring Colorado into a grind game. Been a revelation since the start of the season, rookie Wide Receiver Dahlia Taylor did the brunt of the work with 2 TDs as well of Daniel Van Baarle as the run was ineffective. Aspen Redfield was having a great game, while Dragons QB Corgie Brooks, going in for Burnette, did alright, with one INT. Tied up 17-17 all after 3, it came down to one important sequence in the fourth, As Erica Blanche de la Rosa, was trapped in her endzone, backed up and brought down for a safety, which ultimately, would be all the Dragons needed. The Dragons won a close one 19-17.
- In Baltimore, the Ponies were back from their bye as they had a huge test in front of them: The Renegades. In a game that was ripped with playoffs implications, No one would have expected the game that happened. The renegades, strong from a huge defensive performance a few weeks back against the Austin Blues, have now seen themselves getting the same treatment from an energized Ponies’s squad. Today's great performance came from Baltimore QB’s Christian Wright, taking full advantage of the chance he got, as he had a day with 253 yards passing, 3 TDs and a running TD on 10 yards rushing. His opponent wished she had a better day, as Caryne Becker had perhaps her first stinker of the season, suffering 2 INTs as the Renegades offense could only generate a measly Field goal. Are the Baltimore Ponies for real? What will Wright’s performance do in the QB situation in Baltimore? The Ponies Triumphs 34-3.
And now Lun's game of the week!:
Game of the week may surprise you since both teams involved are fighting to avoid being the worst team in the league. However no matter how bad a team looks, they're still one of the best and most talented teams in the world and this game made sure that no one ever forgot. Those who chose to watch this year's first Tank Bowl were given a treat. Welcome to Richmond, home of the Flames!
1st Quarter-
The game started off hot as Richmond's 1st position ended with an interception that'd lead to a Jermaine Traylor 20 yard run into the endzone to the collective sigh of Richmond's few thousand supporters.
MIA 7- RIC 0 1st|10:08
Richmond got slapped and was NOT turning the other cheek but instead...slapping back. Yoink! Another pick, this time on Fernandez giving Richmond the ball at Miami's 15. And just like Miami 4 minutes prior they cashed in with a 5 yard reception by their stand out rookie wide out Chris Davis. Tie game
MIA 7- RIC 7 1st|6:10
There was a theme to this game..turnovers=points. Richmond caught on quick as Evans punched the ball out of Fernandez's paws while Lacoste fell on it. Richmond ball at Miami's 36. With such a head start the offense couldn't help but score and after an attempt to sabotage this drive with 2 straight penalties, Miami scratched their transgressions off the record with their own 15 yd facemask on what would be a 3rd down stop from a short Royce Jackson run. With new life and 9 yards from the endzone, Richmon let the backs work again as Karros got 3 while the remaining 6 was picked up by 1st overall pick Royce Jackson.
MIA 7- RIC 14 1st|2:43
Miami's coach was furious about the mistakes and their disappointment inspired change as Miami upped the tempo as if it were 2 minutes left in the 4th as they ran all the way down the field before scoring with a 9 yard pass to Uttle from Fernandez to tie the game at 14.
MIA 14- RIC 14 1st| 1:28
End of 1st
MIA 14- RIC 21 2nd| 15:00
....abrupt huh? Imagine how the crowd felt. Shortly after the last touchdown, Richmond countered with their own uppercut up the gut of the field utilizing all remaining time to get closer and closer. Once the field swapped at the 2nd Quarter whistle they were sitting at the 1 yard line. The crowd was booming as Franklin fakes a handoff to Royce and lobs to a wide open Pony for 6.
Miami responded by giving Richmond the ball back via Fernandez tossing an ill thought out pass that ended up in the paws of Coles and after a 13 yard return he gave the offense immaculate field position...However Richmond unfortunately was given a 50% discount for their troubles only cashing in 3pts off the leg of Hamilton.
MIA 14- RIC 24 2nd| 10:19
Miami responded with a 5 and out almost fumbling the ball back to Richmond on the first play of the drive..
Richmond however was getting hot and 13 yards to go, Royce Jackson hot stepped into the endzone for his 2nd touchdown of the game..this was getting ugly.
MIA 14- RIC 31 2nd|5:20
MIA 21- RIC 31 2nd|5:12
No way...
Viridi-Aqua caught the ball inside the endzone..but seeing how much the offense struggled he took it upon himself to make his mark on this game. He runs out, his pads kicking up turf rocks as he weaves through defenders and shakes off Hamilton who gave a valiant effort...30...20...10...Richmond is silent. Touchdown Miami off the kick off...103yds..wow.
Richmond was stunned and when the exhausted offense got back on the field..Franklin gave the ball right back to Richmond for his 2nd pick of the game.
Miami had a new life and yk the rules...Turnover=Scoring.
Miami wasn't gonna let Virida-Aqua's work go to waste. Fernandez went on a tear completing 4 straight passes to get his team inside the 5 and just 2 plays later he was yelling at the top of his lungs after having a 4 yard dart to Cobalt. Touchdown Miami! Their backs like they never left!
MIA 28- RIC 31 2nd| 0:54
Half Time. *dances*
Kay...let's go.
Unfortunately the two teams made "adjustments" and made an agreement to play safer limiting turnovers so in turn this quarter was just a bunch of punts,.missed field goals..and penalties..oh and one made field goal from 50 yards by Hamilton.
MIA 28- RIC 34 End of 3rd
The 4th Quarter started and it was clear that this was a tale of two halves. This was a completely different game. Hamilton dropped a 49 yd FG around halfway through the 4th to make it a 2 possession game.
MIA 28- RIC 37 4th| 9:46
With time running out..Miami needed the magic that got them here in the first place but their offense kept stagnating.
31 yard banger from Hamilton.
MIA 28- RIC 40 4th|6:00
Miami still can't get anything going...and as time runs out, the first play of the most important drive with 1:55 to go..Fernandez throws a back breaking interception...the Flames get the ball at Miami's 5. Despite that...due to some odd coaching decisions like kneeling the first play only to pass on the next..Miami forced another field goal. Impressive.
MIA 28- RIC 43 4th|1:10
The game was essentially over as Hamilton literally kicked the Tropics out the game. However Fernandez knew I had him in fantasy and with 17 seconds left he threw an absolute dime to Viridi-Aqua for a 29 yd Score. Unfortunately..time hit 0:00 as soon as he crossed the plane.
Richmond wins their first game of the year!!!
