....The path of the Furbowl 9 is now down to two teams.....Here the results for the Conference Championships! :
- We are in Chicago, as the Defending champs, Chicago Outlaws are looking to add to their dominance with another trip to the Furbowl, gunning for a 2 peat. Facing them is the Las Vegas Bandits, always surprising and not to be messed with as the veteran Slyvester Stapler is looking to get back to the grand final since their lone title win in 2016. Having upset the Montreal Royal in their house, the Bandits will try to do the same in Chicago. As the game started, the Outlaws took possession of the ball…and their number one weapon Jean Étienne-Tremblay, would go to work. Chicago's rushing offense would grind their way from across the field and took most of the time of possession as It took till 8:43 for the Bandits to finally get on offense after a FG by Thalia Perez. But the second the Bandits would try to move, Stapler would fumble the ball on a run and The Outlaws would recover! It would not take time for Chicago to make them pay, as Darius Smith would then connect with John Gradkowski with the first touchdown of the game! 10-0 for Chicago. The Bandits would have more chances in the second quarter, but once again, it seemed that the Outlaws were overwhelming the Bandits out right, as Stapler could not manage to move on the field without running for his life. The rushing attack seemed to be having trouble getting going too, As Sierra and Wit-Ricky barely had many touches. The Outlaws would also take opportunities from costly penalties. As prior to another FG from Perez, they would soon be able to score another touchdown, another Gradkowski/Smith connection. 20-0 Chicago. As Halftime would come, some life from Vegas, the Bandits would manage to pin the Outlaws in their zone and manage to sack Darius Smith in the endzone for a Safety, 20-2 for the Outlaws. Halftime would soon come, as the Bandits sure wish to take a breather and find answers for the second half.
- Down in North Florida, the North Florida Renegades were waiting for this day for a long time. After a series of bad luck in the playoffs in past years, They were dominating and finally had a shot at getting at the Furbowl and claiming the Continental Conference. On the other side, the Colorado Crushers, having did what seemed impossible in taking down the favorite in the MVP race Lillian Newman and the Downriver Waves, were looking to make something special, especially with their Veteran Aspen Redfield, who been trying to get another shot at winning a Furbowl. As soon the game started, there was one thing that would seem to be certain, someone been begging to return on the field, at it was young QB Caryn Becker. Having had to sit on the sidelines in the Divisional game, she was clear to play and it showed. Caryn would make the Renegades offense red hot, as she not only managed to throw a touchdown, and also used her feet and ran for 23 yards to score a touchdown by herself, 14-0 Renegades after one quarter. In the meantime, while their young running back rookie Erica Blanche de la Rosa, did her thing and tried to move the ball for the Crushers, Aspen couldn’t not generate anything in the air. The Renegades would continue to move the ball with ease, as after a Velazquez FG, the Crushers would finally get a good sequence on offense, but would only manage a FG from Souber for their trouble. 17-3 North Florida. An efficient Becker would then move in and connect with Seth Slater after a great offensive charge for 14 yard pass TD, that made the score 24-3 for the Renegades. The Halftime will come, as The Crushers needed to change their gameplan…and fast.
- Second half in Chicago. The Outlaws looked to be well in control, as the Bandits were trying to build on their safety before the half to gain some needed momentum. Bandits started with the ball, but once again the suffocating defense of the Outlaws made it impossible to move further. On the next Outlaws' possession, Tremblay would move and get tackled hard as things got chippy, Vegas would get a costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that Tremblay made them pay later for a TD. 27-2 Outlaws. Things would continue to be troublesome for Vegas, as each yard they gained on the field would be done with great difficulty, as they still managed to get a FG by Sasakibara, 27-5. Tremblay would continue to be a problem for the Bandits, as much as getting in their skin, as Vegas would once again be penalized for trying to mess with the bear. Once again, the Bandits would pay later with another FG from Perez, 30-5 Outlaws. As things would get dire, the Bandits would try to lock in, as finally Stapler would connect with Milano for a 52 yards pass….only to be nullified by another penalty, this time holding. But the Bandits did not give up as Berry Rhoades would rush through the goal line wall of Outlaws defenders to score a TD for Las Vegas! 30-12 for Chicago. Then on the next onside kick attempt….the Bandits would recover it! Vegas gets another try! But this time, the Outlaws would not let this turn into a momentum shift, as they would keep attacking the QB until their offensive sequence turned into a turnover on downs. Then it was only a matter of time, as Outlaws went into running clock mode, as Bandits spent all their timeouts to get one last shot for pride. Then after a few incompletions, Stapler would connect with Milano…only to be stopped for only 12 yards. BALLGAME! Chicago wins 30-12 and will defend their title!!
- Second half, can the Colorado Crushers turn this back around? As the Renegades started with the ball, McSnow and Becker ran the ball on the crushers until they would gain a FG out of it. 27-3 North Florida. Colorado would then try to get some points of their own, but the sequence wasn’t as efficient, as a mish mash of penalties and Redfield passing attacks would gain them only 3 points from a Souber FG. 27-6. Things would then start to get rough as the game was stalled with a couple of Penalties and even an injury break from Olen Reuyters, who got his cheekbone messed up. As the fourth Quarter would start, Colorado had the ball, as Redfield would take control of the ball, then passed to Wide Receiver Jeordie Khalil, as Lucky Von Braunschweig tackled him hard, knowing the ball loose! Aaron Foster would recover! On the next Renegades possession, more brouhaha, as this time Ethan Frost would have an injury break from Colorado. Soon after, North Florida would get another touchdown from Becker to Oahu! 34-6 North Florida. And then, on the next Crushers’s drive, North Florida would deal the deathblow. Aspen Redfield went for a pass that was quickly taken by Aaron Foster and returned for a demoralizing pick six for 26 yards. 41-6 North Florida. As things seemed to be taken well under control, Caryn Becker would sub out for Travis Lockhart for the rest of the game. More rough stuff as it was now Lucky’s turn to be taken away for an injury break. Then the Renegades would continue to not let up, as Lockhart would connect with a TD with Roland McSnow after an unsuccessful’ Colorado drive. 48-6. The Crushers, while the game was way out of their hand, would still fight till the end, as Aspen Redfield managed to throw 2 TDs passed and the Special teams would even recover an outside kick, but they would not manage to get a second one. North Florida ran, Colorado used their timeouts, then the game came to zero. The North Florida Renegades are Continental Conference Champions! NORTH FLORIDA WINS 48-20!
