Marty Here and here the results for this Playoffs Divisional games!:
Las Vegas at Montreal
Montreal comes into today’s playoff contest with the second-best record in the league. But they’re also missing an important piece of their offense, as Vito Ligustica is out with a foot injury. The Bandits hope to capitalize on that loss to reach their first conference championship since 2018. Their chances look pretty good right away, as Donnell Atwood jumps the route to pick off Tyron Appleby’s pass to Keonte Hughes on the third play of the game, giving them the ball at the Montreal 33 yard line. However, a big sack would push them completely out of field goal range, and they’d come up empty on the turnover. From there, the game becomes a defensive slugfest, with five of the next six possessions by either team resulting in a three-and-out. Montreal would finally break through with a field goal at the beginning of the second quarter when Vegas’s punter, Gordon Hensley, shanked one from deep in their own territory for only 19 net yards after the return. The Bandits would answer right back with a touchdown, on a drive that took eight plays to reach midfield, and then just three to go the remaining 50 yards. After scoring another field goal to bring their deficit to a single point, the Royal got the ball back on their own 1 yard line with 90 seconds left in the half. Two penalties on Las Vegas would help get them into Bandits territory, but they were eventually looking at a 4th and 3 from the 27 yard line with thirty seconds left to play. The field goal unit came onto the field, but it’s a fake! Appleby gets the ball and tries a snap pass to rookie special teams player Robert Leora. The throw is wide, however, and the Bandits take over on downs to kneel out the rest of the half.
The third quarter is almost a repeat of the first. It takes ten minutes of game time before the first first-down of the half, an eight-yard completion on 2nd and 3 by the Bandits. That would also be the LAST first down of the half on merit, with only a defensive holding penalty to add to it. Las Vegas would finally get something going on their first possession of the fourth quarter, making their way all the way down the Montreal 6 yard line. Ricky Wit-Ricky would get stuffed on third and inches, however, and they’d have to settle for a field goal to bring the score to 10-6. After a punt by both teams, the Royal would get the ball back on their own 8 yard line with about six minutes to play. They’d get a quick first down, but two running plays that went nowhere and a sack would have them looking at a 4th and 16 from deep in their own territory. With less than three minutes to play and being down by 4 points, however, they decided to go for it on fourth down anyway. Appleby’s throw was incomplete, and Las Vegas took over in an excellent position to make it a two-score game. And that they did, with a touchdown in only three plays and 14 seconds of clock time. Montreal would respond with their best drive of the game, efficiently working their way downfield to score on backup tight end Paula Battle’s first career touchdown catch. Their two-point conversion attempt would be successful, but they still needed the onside kick to have any change at a game-tying field goal to send it to overtime. Unfortunately, Las Vegas would recover, sealing the game and sending them to the United Conference Championship Game. Final score: LVB 17, MTL 14
We are in North Florida, as the Renegades are back to the Divisional playoffs. Last year, after a dominating performance, they were upset by the Downriver waves and their star rookie, Lillian Newman. Now this year, They had a steady performance all season long, eventually doubling up the Waves and clinching the division. They will be facing the surprise of this year's season, the Baltimore Ponies, whom for a good part of the year, we thought were dead in the water after Jillian St-Claire went out with an injury. But at the end of the season the team would recover themselves and with some inspired football thanks in part by the return of their QB1 they managed to snatch the last remaining playoff spot from Grand Rapids in week 17. At the start of the game a huge turn of events for North Florida, as they went with Travis Lockhart off the helm due to Caryn Becker being incapacitated still with a pinched nerve, as her status is yet to be known further in the playoffs. As the game started, both teams seemed to not give themselves space for their offense, as North Florida would strike first with a FG. As we know, mistakes in the playoffs cost at a premium, as suddenly Jillian St-Claire would throw a costly INT to Free Safety Lyric Makarova of the Renegades which was returned for a 69 yard pick six (nice). Making the score 10 zip for the home team. Baltimore would remain focused for the remainder of the first half of the game, as both teams would get some FGs. At the half, North Florida leads 16-3.
In the second half, it seemed that the Ponies had a great talk inside their locker room, as the tide of the game would turn slowly in their favor. After 1 FG in the third, the rookie running back Kennedy Rodriguez would punch his first playoff TD in to make the game closer at 16-13. Towards the end of the game, it felt like the game was falling out of the Renegades hands, as many penalties would stall their effort as then suddenly at the end, the Ponies manages to get well enough in the North Florida zone in which Tyler Kimb would kick a 29 yard Field goal to tie the game 16-16 all! The Stadium grew silent, the Renegades fans Nervous, as the Ponies were jubilant on the sideline. North Florida had a shot at the end but couldn’t do anything. So you know what that means? PLAYOFFS OVERTIME! 16-16 all.
Overtime, here we come. North Florida would win the toss and be the first one on offense.Unfortunately for them, they could not even get out of their own zone midfield, as they would have to punt. Now, it was Baltimore's turn to create an upset. The Ponies would then manage to move slowly on their possession, until a couple of costly penalties would then stall their own drive and they too would have to punt. It's down to the wire as the next score will be the winner! The Renegades would then score first big with a 30 yards completion from Jesse Oahu for 30 yards! Renegades near the endzone! Now the Renegades move closer into Ponies’s territory. Then on a second and 8, Travis Lockhart takes the snap, looking….looking….Then sling it over into the endzone for Owen Reuyters…..TOUCHDOWN! Renegades seals it! They move on to the Continental Conference Game! North Florida wins 22-16!!
It's Time for Playoff Football in Chicago as the Outlaws face off against the red hot New York Defiant!
1st Half- The First half was mostly all Chicago as Darius Smith showed rookie Emi exactly how a veteran QB plays in the playoffs as he let loose 4 Passing Touchdowns to take an early 28-3 lead at half. New York's offense was stgnant due to Chicago's stifling defense and a missed field goal definitely didn't help their chances. They'd need to find a break in the defense and a little help from their own defensive unit if they wanted a chance to see the next round.
2nd Half- The Defiant Defense answered early as Suppo returned a Pick Six off of Darius Smith to cut the lead to 18, but Smith replied immediately with an 11yd dime to Damphousse for his 5th passing Touchdown. Emi fired back for her first possession of the half with a 1yd shuffle pass to Masquarde and with a last second 3rd Quarter FG the lead was cut from 25 to 21 as the score stood at 17-38. Early in the 4th the Outlaws got a quick toudown drive to cut the lead to a manageable 14 but the Outlaws slowly marched to the endzone, cutting 7 minutes off the clock to make the score 24-45. With no chance to ccome back with only 5 minutes, the body language of the Defiant said it all. Emi kept fighting getting her team to 4th and inches at the Chicago 43..but Penguinator couldn't hang on the pass due to Otternator's paws jamming it lose..ending their season. Chicago Moves on 45-24.
Downriver at Colorado
It’s the rising star versus the grizzled veteran as Lillian Newman and Aspen Redfield take the field on an unusually warm winter day in Colorado. And while Newman didn’t look nervous in the slightest, the same can’t be said for the Downriver defense. Four different defenders got flagged for pre-snap penalties on Colorado’s first possession of the game, allowing the Crushers to go 86 yards for a touchdown without ever seeing a third down. After a quick three-and-out, Colorado got the ball back again on their own 48, and then just handed it off to Erica Blanche de la Rosa, who went the remaining 52 yards on just three carries to put the Crushers up by two scores before the Waves could even blink. Downriver would get a little penalty luck on their next possession to help even the score, however. They’d get a first down on a PI call, and a Crushers sack on third down would get called back for unnecessary roughness, giving the Waves an automatic first. Newman would put a punctuation on the first quarter by diving the ball in herself for Downriver’s first score of the game. The second quarter wouldn’t be particularly kind to them, however. Colorado would get the points right back on a catch by Mike Moretti, and Waves receiver Renato Hanna would leave the game after a hard hit and enter the concussion protocol. However, the Waves would end the first half on a high note. Cedric Wolff would return a punt for 75 yards, setting up an easy touchdown pass to rookie Taj Thompson, and the Waves would go into the half having cut the lead to 7.
Well the jitters are back for the Downriver Waves. They commit four more penalties in the third quarter, mostly pre-snap infractions, to none from the Crushers. Fortunately, if the refs actually allowed the play to begin the Waves defense wasn’t bad, holding Colorado to a pair of field goals in the quarter. The Waves offense was stagnant, however, only managing a single first down. They needed something to give them a spark. Well, they found it: Zoe McKee. The rookie got put in for a series while Aspen was in the blue tent being evaluated for a concussion (he’d return to the game later in the fourth quarter). McKee promptly threw an interception in DWN territory that David Locke returned to midfield. Newman took the snap, and was off to the races. 54 yards untouched into the end zone! Curt Pike’s extra point kick was no good, so it was still a seven point game with ten minutes left to play. Downriver would force a three-and-out, but Newman got hit hard on second down on their next possession and the ball came loose. Linebacker Sandy Bonilla would jump on it for a Crushers takeaway. Colorado’s euphoria would be short-lived, however, as McKee would give the ball right back two plays later, tossing it right into the paws of linebacker Ray Bray. Newman would take it in from the one for her third rushing TD of the game, a playoff record for a QB, and the game is tied with 2:37 left to play! They need a stop now to get the ball back, or at least to head to overtime. Unfortunately for the Waves, Aspen Redfield had other things in mind. On first down, he fired a huge bomb downfield, right into the arms of Mike Moretti. It was a 42 yard pickup that would take them into field goal range already. They wanted to run more clock out, however, so they kept pushing downfield….all the way into the end zone. Newman would complete five straight passes after that, but with only 30 seconds left to work with the Waves just ran out of time. Final score: COL 34, DWN 27
