Interesting Bear Facts: Character Crushes
9 months ago
It's that time again, Interesting Bear Facts returns for another segment a year after my last one. On my BlueSky account, I posted a link to my NGL profile, which lets people send me anonymous messages and questions. One of them that I recently got was asking if I had an artist OC crush, along with this trend where "one like = a fictional crush". It got me thinking that I have crushes on many characters in media, so I figured that writing this journal would be the best way to list them all and explain my reasons for having a crush on said characters. So here is a list of my character crushes (I may update this over time if I see someone new):
• Rocksteady from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (80's version) — I haven't watched much of the original series but it was thanks to Shredder's Revenge and Kopatropa that I soon started simping again on the mutant rhino. I love just how much of a himbo he is; he fits the role perfectly of a dimwitted henchman, not being a big threat. One thing that I do like about him is that his belly is always sticking out, and his outie is in full view. They even went into more detail on it in the game, providing jiggle physics during the boss fights. I do like how in the 2012 series, during the crossover episode, it showed that he's not truly evil but instead following orders from a higher power; it was even touched on in the Mutant Mayhem movie as well. He is a cutie, and it's fun coming up with these commission ideas with Zakyr as he loves Rocksteady too. It's fun coming up with this headcanon of the rhino where he no longer works for the Shredder and instead enjoys his own life, along with receiving lots of belly love from his fans.
• Wolf O'Donnell from Star Fox — This one was pretty obvious given my commissions with him. When I first joined the fandom, it was around the same time that Super Smash Bros Ultimate was coming out. I was vaguely familiar with Wolf, but didn't think much about him at the time, as he was absent from the 3DS/Wii U game. Joining the fandom got me to notice him even more and get so many commissions with the space pirate. I think the one part of Wolf that I like, besides giving him a fat belly, is how mysterious he is. It's unclear what his true intentions are, as he could sometimes be a barrier blocking your way, or he's helping you during missions. I do like how some furry artists give their two cents on Wolf's backstory, seeing that there aren't many Star Fox games out there and there's little information on him. Guess I admired him so much that I made him and Beary a couple as the blue bear started in Sonic Forces and is enjoying the post-Resistance life. Plus, it is fun making him fat, as it shows that he wasn't that busy with barely any missions going on.
• Amicus from Adastra — The space prince himbo himself. When I joined the fandom, I started noticing Amicus a lot, but I didn't know who he was or why so many people love him. It wasn't until I watched an LP of Adastra that I soon learned why he's loved by at least everyone in the fandom. He is a cool character wanting to bring positive change to Adastra, being the new emperor. Even though his mind is set in certain ways, he does learn to open up more and view things differently, thanks to Marco being an outsider. He does make mistakes at times, but he does learn from them to be a better wolf. He certainly is caring, especially wanting to keep Marco safe, and willing to make deals for his safety, especially since he loves the human. I do like how his view of "the parents" changes when Marco tells Amicus that he doesn't trust them and is not a fan of their manipulation to get their way. Amicus is also a puppy when one rubs his belly. I couldn't help but stare since his attire doesn't cover his body, and I like that he's confident in showing his body.
Hope you all like this list. It is amazing to see so many cool characters being created by these companies and gaining a fan following. Some I've gotten commissions with, while others I plan on getting a commission with when the time allows for it. Thank you all for reading this journal, and I hope you all get inspired to share your crushes.

This is cool. Furry crushes like this are universal and your explanations and the like here are most entertaining. :)
