I won’t deny, I almost lost hope.

There’s one big danger when it comes to being on Twitter/X and that’s the big D word. DRAMA. Unfortunately I found some and it almost made me lose hope with the furry fandom. The main reason is because this person was basically saying straight furs and anyone who leans even slightly right of center has no right to have any opinions in this community, saying furry is queer culture. I forgot to add that I believe this person has called anyone who isn’t queer guests of the furry fandom.
I’ll say this, I don’t give a damn about your gender, sexual orientation, preference etc. I don’t give a damn about what skin color you are, what ethnicity you are any of that stuff. Treat me and others with kindness and respect and I’ll do the same. It’s called treat others as you want to be treated. The Golden Freaken Rule. I’ll add this. The only people I will not tolerate are those who are attracted to children/minors. Pedo, Zoos people like that stay the heck away from me. Rant Over.
For those who read through that I than you, now for what reinstated my hope.
That was being on here. Looking through my submission inbox and commenting on a bunch of them. So thank you to those of you who post on here. You might not realize it but you do have an impact even if it’s just a little. If you even help brighten one person’s day you’ve done a lot just there.

i agree with you—kindness and respect are so important. it’s sad when people try to divide others, but i’m glad you found hope in the positive side of the fandom, that’s always important ❤️✨
thank you for writing this. it’s a nice reminder that small acts of kindness can really help others)
Definitely. It’s what I strive for. Divisiveness is not what’s needed, especially in this time of day. Nobody will agree on everything 100% as everyone is different and has differing views a lot of the time but we can come to middle ground a lot of times.
My pleasure. Spreading positivity and kindness is my passion and I know it’s hard, especially nowadays.
That being said, Twitter is a cesspool now. I jumped ship to Bsky where I can control what I see and what makes it to my feed way easier than I could with Twitter.
Thank you for continuing to be you and staying awesome <3
Getting responses from people like you help keep me going. I definitely don’t expect a response from everyone but even just one is enough to help charge my batteries. It’s unfortunate how crazy this world has gotten nowadays hopefully things can improve some day.
My pleasure.
It's super unfair to say that anyone in the fandom who isnt LGBTQ+ is just a "guest" and not at all what this fandom should be about. The fandom *may* be a majority LGBTQ+, but straight furs have just as much right to be here as anyone else. This fandom should be open and welcoming to everyone (who isn't a POS, ofc lmao)
That said, drama ESPECIALLY on twitter is a big part of why I've stepped away from the furry fandom these days. Twitter is pretty awful and seems to thrive strictly on drama and poor behaviour.
I'm sorry you found yourself in that side of twitter :c
You're always incredibly kind and I appreciate you!
It’s unfortunate that that’s true. I can understand your decision on that. Definitely wish it wasn’t but it seems to be true with most social media.
It’s okay, it can happen to the best of us.
Thankies. I always strive to be a source of positivity and kindness. I appreciate you as well.
No worries, it can happen to the best of us. I mainly use twitter/x to just look at art among a few other things but drama, especially furry drama definitely isn’t among them. I know Bluesky has some positives but one major risk I’ve heard about, same as a lot of places. I’ve definitely been doing that personally.
If you are nice and treat people like people no matter what you want to be then it is good but to try and say straight furs cant be furries is wrong
They’re most likely some young person new to the fandom who has no idea of the true history of the fandom. Hopefully every furcon has a furry 101 thing that tells the history of the furry fandom. They did at my first furcon and it was a real eye opener.
Yes nowadays the majority of the fandom is LGBTQ+ but to claim that it was that group that created the fandom is totally false.
I mean look at some of the older movies that have talking animals: Robin Hood, The Fox and the Hound, Lady and the Tramp 1&2, All Dogs Go to Heaven 1&2 Balto 1,2 & 3 just to name a few. Most if not all of those had little to no LGBTQ+ content in them at all.
It’s people like this that make me glad that I haven’t attended a furcon since the pandemic and don’t really care about attending one anytime soon.
