Clears throat and talks in french goat
I just want everyone to know that no, I'm not dead, and I'm definitely planning on drawing and posting furry foot stuff in the future, now is just not really a good time for that.
Basically, since September of last year, I'm following a school cursus on Video Game programming, and despite kind of already knowing that this would be an administrative and organisational mess in this school, they somehow managed to make it even worse. I could go on a rant about literally all the terrible and fucking stupid things they've done and are still doing (In fact, I actually have a 10 page document detailing all that stuff that I sent to a few friends already lol), so I'll be brief: They do appaling stuff like giving us grades based on the activities we do OUTSIDE of school, they cut entire project teams in half before saying that this won't be taken into account in the final grade, they're giving us the equivalent of a fucking full time job of work while we're on an apprenticeship (For example we had 7 assignments to deliver at ONCE around the end of last year, once again, WHILE basically having a full time job.) This is the kind of place that is just a pure scam (I joined in for the diploma but damn, they managed to make me consider very negative thoughts a lot of times...) that makes you aim for the "Barely passable" rather than the "good" just to be able to keep a bit of mental health, and from which you barely get out with the desire to make something out of what you've "Learned". Fucking crazy how a VIDEO GAME school makes you fucking HATE working on video games. Fucking cretins who have actually never worked in the game industry and made their school course as a side project, helped by the amount of money their scam school network has and the amount of dick riding they did when they were students of that school themselves (You know it's a bad sign when most of the "Teachers" here are actually just previous students...) Anyway, I'll be free from this mess in the end of September of this year, so here's to that, I suppose. I've managed to draw some stuff, though not furry stuff.
Anyway sorry if that was all a very mopey journal and I hope I didn't make anyone's eyes roll lol. I'm somehow doing okay, though I had a very violent crash mentally last week. Have a good day, and hopefully I'll be able to actually do stuff at the end of the year!

I can imagine they have the Ubisoft mentality as well.
Hang in there, dude.
Bunch of dudes saw one of those "I remade totk in 24 hours" shitty videos and now they think it is how games are done. Because this is literally what they're making us go through with their projects. Like, they literally asked us to make ALL the mechanics of a game in three hours (WHILE the designers were supposed to decide on the said mechanics at the same time smh). You can hit me up on Discord if you want and I'll send you the full document of the shit they do.
Anyway basically: If you want to learn to do game dev, you're better off doing a computer science major. You're actually getting all the ground work you will need to quickly evolve into game dev. In this kind of school, they teach you "This button turns on physics", not "Here is how physics are done programmatically" (Save for one or two good classes which, obivously, aren't given by old students, nor are really adapted for the rate of learning that we have at the school, so we're always in a rush to hand some homework or some way to get graded).
My god, that sounds like a shitfest tbh. I wish you all the best and good luck with your grades!
The thing is that what I heared from other game devs is that often your portfolio is more important then your grades, not sure if that is true everywhere or depending what you want to do and where. But hope the whole stress is worth it and stay healthy!
Now outside this whole gamedev school shit, I would say it probably doesn't matter much (Aside from AAA companies I think, though maybe their way of sorting resumes is moreso based on other studios you worked at rather than the names of the diplomas)
There is someone else who sees the exact sh#t I see in this world. :(
So, it's not my common sense would had the problem.
I wish these things would never exist already! <(
I usually don't talk because in my experience there are smart enough people who can screw what I said and demonize me as the wrong person just by saying it and it were my problem only I feel or think about something I said.
So, I mostly just give up, remain silent, so they have no change to turn upside down what I say and turn them against me.
It is what it is. I don't have the speech skill to talk in a way what cannot be turned against me. :(
This is the reason I stay in silence instead. So they have nothing to turn against me.
Also a theory of mine is that the reason why so many teachers of these schools are old students is because they were taught so much shit that finding a job is very hard to find for them post studies, so they turn to a "Trusted figure". And thus, they become the ones to teach the same ineffective shit they were taught. This sytem basically becomes a sort of autophagic creature that grinds its students (Preys) before turning them into parts of its own systems.
