My parents are broke
Ok, so I just went to meet my parents for Taco Tuesday. Only to find out their new credit card wasn't working, and I had to pay their tab. Then they begged me to buy them booze on the way home. Turns out they're broke. I ended up going off on them like they were children. My dad took it well. My mother, not so much. She started sounding a bit like my sister, because she kept remarking to not liking being told what to do. I gave her a long speech and forced her to not interrupt. My parents are on retirement disability. And they're eating out like four days a week or more. And a couple weeks ago I found my mother collapsed drunk in the yard because only a few drinks get her wasted now. And I pointed out that some of the issues my sister has come from her genetically.
My mother ended up getting weepy, and kept saying they'd pay me back. But I kept telling her that wasn't the point. I know that they'll pay me back. Unlike my sister they've always paid me back. My problem is the repetition of them repeating the same cycle. My mother keeps saying she's going to stop drinking, and that only lasts like a week at most before she's drinking again. And they're going out and spending money they don't have because they're not used to living paycheck to paycheck from their retirement. And they still have debts they're paying off. I told them they need to go to a financial advisor. Which apparently they've already been planning that.
My dad kept complaining that food at home sucks, and how they're sick of cooking. And my mother has to stick to a mostly vegetarian diet because of her fatty liver. Oh, and I just found out their kitchen stove is broken. I told my parents that I eat out like two days a week. That's why sometimes I bring home roast chickens instead. One of those is $6 at the local Winco. And I know what it's like to basically live out of a microwave. But I deal with it because I want to be able to save money. My parents did keep making excuses. Though mostly my mother. And my dad admitted I'm right. For now they'll get their monthly retirement pay in a couple days. And they've got a harsh life lesson to think about. I know it's not gonna change them much. But it's a start.

Hopefully they can get out of this hole

OP
Hopefully my parents are starting to understand what I grilled them about earlier, and need to cut back
