Starting at about 9:00 am this morning, I got a call from a local phone number. I got woken up by my phone, and when I answered, I heard a girl sobbing and begging I come pick her up. And then some guy that sounded like a teenager trying to deepen his voice in the most stereotypical and fake way, started talking like a cop and saying that there was a woman with him claiming to be a relative of mine, then asked my name. I told him to tell me her name first. He wouldn't tell me, and kept trying to talk around it while calling me sir. I smelled serious bullshit because the only woman who could have been calling me like that would be my estranged entitled sister, and she's 8 hours away right now. But I didn't point that out. I told the guy that I wasn't telling my name, and I wasn't lifting a finger unless he told me the girl's name. He wouldn't do it. So I told the guy I couldn't even take him seriously with the way he sounded. He just said "Ok..." like he was moping, and hung up. Whoever they were, they called me once before a couple weeks ago and had me freaked out because I thought it was my sister back then. Not this time. What's more, they were calling from a local phone number. My sister would not be calling from a local number, because again, she's 8 freaking hours away!

Then about 1:30 before I went out on errand, I actually got a call from Alabama. The second I answered the phone, I just said "Who the hell is calling me from Alabama?!". And they hung up immediate.

Oh, but the scams aren't over. There's one more today! I got a message here on DA from a five hour old account. The TLDER of the message they sent was to say my account was on hold pending payment for selling art on DA. I don't sell art on DA. There's zero chance the message was legit. I don't spend or receive money for my art. Which means I don't need to pay. And on DA, you pay for things like core membership and shit. I don't recall needing to pay DA so I could sell stuff too. Maybe it is that way. Don't know, don't care. But the other reason the message can't be legit is that they couldn't complete the word "Verification" They separate the V from the rest of the word when spelling it. Possibly to avoid a filter. Either way it's a scam.
