1.2 Release Notes:
•The first biome of the exploration module is here featuring the forest!
•New exploration command. Players may explore once per day. Exploration is not cumulative and must be used daily.
•As per community vote, no documentation of the exploration module will be provided. A new forum channel will be provided for players to discuss and document the events they encounter.
•A scaling player reward structure based on the number of explorations the player has undertaken. This simulates the player’s body acclimating to the Realm. Players will reach tier 2 at 30 explorations. Scaling player reward tiers act as a multiplier of the base reward.
•Event text and outcomes are based on the player’s stats and self-assigned tags.
•Events are designed to require no further input from the player after the initial command is sent.
•A consumable item is obtainable. Players can carry up to 3 of a consumable before they start auto-selling excess to the shop.
•Items are exempted from fallback growth logic. Players will be unable to use items for stat categories of which they have disabled or reached their set cap.
•Shop inventory is entirely player supplied, be it from players selling items or triggering specific events.
•Items can be sold to the shop for Shop Credits.
•Shop Credits can be used to buy items from the shop.
•Item transactions are always a direct 1:1 exchange based on tier. For example, a regular tier item can be sold or bought for 1 Shop Credit, an enhanced item for 2, and a rare item for 3.
•Players may discover that the exploration module is collaborative! Players meeting certain event conditions may trigger special variations of events for other players.
•New self-assignable tags have been added to the #role-assignment channel. (Added in 1.1)
•Many of the new self-assignable tags are required for opt-in of some fenced content.
•Vore content will be blocked out with spoiler tags. Only players with self-assigned vore tags will encounter these events. (Note: The planned vore scene didn't make it into the initial 1.2 update and will be included in a future update.)
•Existing scoreboards have been updated, plus the addition of a new total stats board! Additional scoreboards will be added with future content.
•Note on scope: To keep the scope of the game reasonable the game may not account for excessive stats. For example, accounting for excessively large guts alone would nearly double the work required for many scene variants. For players that wish to have a narrative rationalization for this constraint, it is not too much of an imaginative stretch that the realm condenses certain assets down while exploring. Patrons can request additional scene variants they’d like to see that may be included in future updates.
•The !stats command has been changed over to embeds. However, future changes to the stats command to accommodate new functions will come at a later time. Stat blocks should now work again for players that were exceeding the previous 2k character limit.
•To accommodate the prior changes to the grow command that enforced increments of 5, the initial charges given to a new player upon typing !readytoplay will now give 5 charges to allow players to use a grow command immediately. All current players have been given 3 growth charges retroactively.
•Bot Hosting: Slyther has been running the bot locally on his personal computer. As part of the 1.2 update, the RoE bot is being migrated to a bot hosting service. The hosting service advertises 99.99% uptime. However, the package being purchased shares API calls with some other bots; this shouldn’t cause any issues, but we’ll keep an eye on out for any limits being reached.
•Bot Hosting Note: While the bot should no longer be susceptible to internet outages, the bot is still known to occasionally hang on commands and will still need to be restarted when these scenarios occur. Please ping Slyther if the bot appears to not be processing commands.
•Some of the events introduced with the forest biome have variants that are not yet accessible or complete. These events will be updated in future releases.
•Bug fix: Inactive players should now properly be excluded from !stealsearch, and the !stats command will also no longer output the stat blocks of inactive players.
•Bug fix: A VPC oversight was fixed.
•Changes have been made to what qualifies as an "activity" check. This change is being made to discourage growth charge hoarding and other play patterns deemed as greedy in the eyes of the Realm.
o !explore will not reset activity.
o !transfer and !steal will no longer reset activity.
o Grow commands are now the only method for players to reset and maintain their activity status.
•A new "soft" cap of 500 growth charges has been implemented. When players are under the cap any functions awarding growth charges will work as normal, including any function that would exceed the cap. Once the cap is reached, a warning dm will be sent to the player and ALL further excess growth charges will be lost until the player uses enough growth to drop below the cap.
•There will undoubtedly be typos and dynamic text that was missed during testing. Please use the #roe-feedback-suggestions-bugs channel to report typos, and please include the message link.
