Is barbaric cruelty you can't even watch, worth the money?

Karno's Rare-Because-He-Never-Has-Time Blather:
Another article about the shocking shittiness of our prison system:
https://reason.com/2025/07/11/arizo.....rison-system/?
It occurred to me that if the prison honchos had spent the millions they've had to pay in fines for denying medical care to prisoners, on medical care, instead - then there wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.
But no, the prison system would rather lose lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit, than obey the law. Their prisons MUST be hellholes, where people die agonizing deaths from deliberate neglect.
And I gotta ask why?? Why is this barbaric cruelty so doggedly maintained? Who profits? Where's the sadist furiously masturbating to statistics of medical neglect? There's something I'm not seeing, here. Is it obvious to any of you guys?

WTF?
My bad, it seems in the USA it's torture, permanent injury and death no matter the sentence.
Did you know that if you treat people like animals they will become animals? No matter what they were before. But I guess you like to live in fear when they are being released.
Also, better hope you never end up in prison. But that's not possible, is it? It's not like innocents can end up in prison.
A lot of repeat offenders have mental health issues, and as a society we handle that very poorly. Same goes for the chronically homeless.
It's really hard to get a legit job if you have a criminal record, so going back to crime is the easy option, if not the only one.
It's worth noting that the USA has the highest prison population in the world by a large margin, and the rehabilitation rate is low. It's all nice and well to say that prisons shouldn't be cushy, but prisons in the USA aren't as effective as those in other countries, so clearly we aren't doing things well.
You know how California has been using prisoners to fight the wildfires? Well when they get out they've been trying to get jobs as firefighters but can't.
While you’re in prison they trust you to go out into burning forests and suburbs and put out the fires?
But once you’ve done your time you’re no longer trustworthy?
What kind of fucked up logic is that?
It actually makes me "how hard is it in society that people prefer prison?"
It's meant to be rehabilitation for those in there shorter than life sentences. Also keep in mind that some people go to jail for months, as an alternative to paying fines since they have no money, and that some people can end up in jail for small, insignificant things that absolutely DO NOT qualify having them 'broken', and SHOULD NOT result in them dying in a cell due to neglect.
Also, I kind of shudder to think where your life is at this moment, feeling that prison is a 'cushy lifestyle of no rent or bills'. ...You do know there ARE some bills you have to pay, even while in jail, to make your life bearable, right? I've read so many stories of people who have spent a couple of years in prison being forced to adapt to that lifestyle to the point of never being able to re-adjust to not having to worry about things. People who can only eat with their head down over their plate, gulping it down so no one steals it and not looking around so no one gets offended; people who are constantly on high alert, thinking anyone near them is planning on robbing them... plenty of other mechanics that are only useful in jail that they now can't shake, having them literally beaten into them in some cases.
I'm not sure where you're coming from thinking jail is somehow liberating and 'cushy', or that anyone in there long term wants to go back because of that reason, but I get the feeling you should search up some first hand accounts of people who spent some time in jail. It might open your eyes a bit more to the reality.
how to kill any argument you might have made in only two words.
I chose my words very carefully.
Are you REALLY saying that the disproportionate share of black and brown people trapped in our policing and varceral systems aren't a result of racism?
i can, as an example "affermitive action" and we got rid of it.
The loss of affirmative action only took away an important tool for achieving equality. It's the same crap as all of this hypocritical anti DEI garbage.
okay, then it should be easy to tell us what "institutions" are anti-black/brown people then.
Spoilers: there ain't any.
Our country was founded on white supremacy and racism. Those don't just go away by ignoring or denying their existence.
oof, face plant.
no, only to a person that does not know history would have this weak of an understanding.
try again please.
I have no need to "Try again". I'd just be denying the obvious facts. I'm not going to do that.
The founding principles of the United States centered on the ideals of liberty, individual rights, self-governance, and limited government. Inspired by Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke, the Founders believed that all individuals are born with unalienable rights—chief among them being life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These rights were considered inherent and not granted by governments. The U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence both emphasized the belief that government exists only by the consent of the governed, and its primary purpose is to protect the natural rights of its citizens.
Another core principle was the establishment of a constitutional republic built on checks and balances, separation of powers, and federalism.
This structure was designed to prevent tyranny by dividing power across three branches of government (legislative, executive, and judicial) and between the federal and state governments.
The Founders distrusted concentrated power, whether held by a monarch or a mob, and sought to create a system that balanced freedom with order, encouraging civic responsibility while restraining government overreach.
your non existent "white supremacist" boogyman, isn't part of that. in fact, many of the founders knew things like slavery were wrong and that is why they put in provisions to "Amend" the constitution to get rid of it, which did happen.
Slavery and the slaughter of indigenous people give lie to that narrative.
It was over a half century and a civil war later until slavery was supposedly abolished, except in the case of prisons.
Once again, these things are institutionalized and haven't gone away till this day.
>new führer
dunno, kamala didn't get elected.
That decision and others SCOTUS has recently made show precisely why we no longer have three counterbalancing branches of government.
Drumpf has at least mostly captured the right wing judiciary and controls the legislature.
Har har. If she won she wouldn't be acting like a dictator, unlike Drumpf.
>Very well for you fascists
its not the right wing going around murdering people, shooting officers and setting traps, ambushing and killing firemen.
if anything the left is embracing fascism.
It's you living in an alternate universe if you blame the right for murder and violence when that's so clearly not the case.
Or the white supremacist in Coeur d'Alene who killed firemen?
I have no idea which cop killing(s) you're referring to.
where the hell did you get this from, there isn't anything released about his personal beliefs.
wait, unless you are one of those left-wing nutjobs which think anyone with white skin is a white supremacist.
These are his parents:
https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/c....._shooter_wess/
His dad has an "88"tattoo.
What proof do you have that he was a leftist?
And what about your other claims?
thinking specifically that your race is superior to every other race makes you a supremacist.
The available evidence points in the exact opposite direction.
And what about those police shootings?
and this
https://washingtonstand.com/comment.....ficers-at-home
How come I haven't seen that
story reported anywhere reputable?
How do you even know that this supposed shooting was even carried out by a leftist other than the words in these extremely dubious and biased articles?
What could possibly be right or just in anonymous thugs who refuse to identify themselves disappearing random brown people off the streets?
That shit is straight out of Nazi Germany, Argentina under Péron, or Chile under pinochet.
And you still haven't answered my question.
and that is how you stay in your bubble, by not considering any other point from any other source other than your few far-left legacy media outlets.
>And you still haven't answered my question.
why should I? because you don't care about what i say unless it supports your alt-left biases.
you act exactly like how you claim the "alt-right" act.
I look at all kinds of sources with an objective eye and know how to determine a reliable source from an unreliable one. If those are the best or only sources you can come up with it just proves that you're full of shit.
And what a way to dodge my question. There is no "Alt-left". The only place I've ever heard that term used is by the right.
And I've never said anything about the "Alt-right" one way or the other.
You REALLY need to look into a little thing called critical media literacy and practice it. -But then you'd never be able to use any of the bogus sources you rely on.
to your ears, perhaps, but the founding fathers lived and died by these principles. they fought the greatest army, the greatest navy the world at that time ever due to these principles.
>It was over a half century and a civil war later until slavery was supposedly abolished
except in the states that already started eliminating slavery in the years before the war.
>Slavery and the slaughter of indigenous people give lie to that narrative.
you mean the same thing these "indigenous people" were doing to each other for thousands of years before the first white person stepped foot onto these lands?
>Once again, these things are institutionalized and haven't gone away till this day.
nope, these things you cry over don't exist as they did in centuries past.
Many of them also held slaves. They were hypocrites.
Duh. None of those were the Southern Slaveholding states.
And that makes our system of chattel slavery okay? Our system of chattel slavery was nothing like what slavery in the tribes was like. We've been over this before, and apparently you've learned nothing since then.
Absolute bullshit. Just because you deny them doesn't mean that they don't exist.
slavery is slavery, no matter how you sugar coat it.
>Just because you deny them
i deny them because you literally have no evidence of their existence.
>the burden of proof (onus) in a debate lies with the claim-maker and if he or she does not meet it then the opponent does not need to argue against the unfounded claim
What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
More to the point, if I set out to search for the proof that you claim exists, but cannot find it, you can always say it is my fault because I did not look hard enough or that I am intentionally ignoring the proof that you need, so you always "win" the argument no matter what I do.
That's why it's your job, not mine.
Chattel slavery was the institution of kidnapping people away from where they were born, taking them a half a world away to have them bought and sold and their descendents brutally enslaved for 250 years. There's been nothing like that anywhere either before or after.
Bullshit. I've already supplied plenty of proof, but you just continue to deny it, You're wasting my time. I'm not interested in being sealioned.
The main difference lies in the type and severity of enslavement:
🔗 Slavery (general term)
Refers broadly to any system where people are owned or controlled and forced to work without freedom or fair compensation.
Forms vary: debt bondage, forced labor, military slavery, etc.
Not always lifelong or hereditary.
🔗 Chattel Slavery
A specific, brutal form of slavery where people are treated as property (chattel).
Status is permanent and hereditary—children of slaves are born into slavery.
Slaves have no legal rights and can be bought, sold, or inherited.
This was the form practiced in the transatlantic slave trade and in pre-Civil War United States.
So, all chattel slavery is slavery, but not all slavery is chattel slavery. Chattel slavery is often considered the most dehumanizing form.
also, it was africans that "stole, broke and sold"other africans into slavery. you should ask yourself, "who owned the slave ships?"
Just because SOME (By no means all) of the enslaved Africans were sold into slavery by other Africans has absolutely zilch to do with the conditions enslaved people lived under here.
no, actually
Who captured and sold African slaves?
African rulers, warlords, and traders captured and sold slaves to European and Arab traders.
Where did the vast majority of African slaves go?
Most went to Brazil and the Caribbean—not the U.S.
What % of the U.S. population owned slaves?
About 8% of the total population in 1860; roughly 25–30% of households in the South owned slaves.
try again.
You're just trying to minimize and discredit what slavery was here. Pretty appalling.
its not minimizing or discrediting when you show that, yes, it was bad but no where near as bad anywhere else in the world.
in fact, there are more slaves owned NOW then there have ever been in the history of man. you should ask your favorite search engine where, G'wan, you know you want to.
And that still has no bearing on what slavery was here.
>And that still has no bearing on what slavery was here.
actually, it does. and the fact you think it does is quite literally an insane line of thought.
"The sins of the father DIE with him."
nobody alive (except those vile areas which keep the sick activity alive) is guilty of the sins of the past.
It's all about making things better for EVERYONE today.
This can't be done by ignoring or denying our past.
the Brits did the heavy lifting, and these United States cleaning it up.
Do you even know what a fascist is?
Right.
Lavafox told you below the exact definition of fascist is
And while Trump is hacking away at federal government and putting more power in the hands of state governments,
you have the sack to call him fascist?
Just like your calling him a Nazi?
Who the actual F did your side just primary for mayor of NY?
An open socialist who is also antisemitic!!
Take a history lesson,…
1939 Germany, the NATIONAL SOCIALIST PARTY took over,….
Either you have no comprehension of what you support or you are actively supporting evil in every form.
Mamdani is not antisemitic, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a socialist.
True socialists and communists were in opposition to the Nazis. That's why they were the first groups that they tried to squash. The Nazis only claimed to be socialist because socialism was so popular when they were forming. There was absolutely nothing "Socialist" about them.
-This Shows how well you understand history.
You've just proven how much better I understand it than you do.
See what he's doing in LA and other democratic cities with the oppression of immigrants as a prime example.
States rights? -Yeah, right.
Seems rather fascistic to me...
But of course you're all for that.
how, by reducing the power taken by the federal government?
>democratic cities with the oppression of immigrants
inforcement of immigration laws, which is mandated by the US constitution, is not "oppression"
The way that Drumpf is doing it it sure is.
He's even violating the constitution and violating the rights of citizens, green card holders, and Asylum seekers.
ICE -Or whoever these anonymous goons may be- are snatching random brown people off the streets and disappearing them.
no, its power that the federal government was never intended to have.
>He's even violating the constitution and violating the rights of citizens, green card holders, and Asylum seekers.
nope, nope and nope. also, these aren't "asylum seekers", quit pushing that lie.
Dipshitdami is on record for supporting global intifada.
You can google it and learn something.
So yeah, I’m sure he’s not antisemitic!
As to the WWII thing who were the “true communists”’that fought against the Nazis?
The Russians? Aka our allies during WWII?
By the time WWII came around, the "Communists" were socialists. That's why they called themselves the USSR.
And Stalin was always more of a fascist, much as Putin is now.
They do deserve all of the credit for winning the war for us, though, at no small cost to themselves.
Please please please move out of the USA and enjoy your socialist paradise in Russia, or take it all the way and move to China and you can be full blown communist.
By the time WWII came around, the "Communists" were socialists. That's why they called themselves the USSR.
And Stalin was always more of a fascist, much as Putin is now.”
Sure you weren’t! 😉
Maybe take a history lesson?
Apparently so.
the hundreds of millions of people murdered, starved and property stripped of them would say otherwise.
being a "socialist" should have the same stigma as being a "nazi"
You can't tar all socialists with the same brush or declare all of them as being equivalent to Nazis.
Just to start with, Naziism is the polar opposite of socialism.
Sound familiar?
yes i can, they've killed hell of a lot more than the nazi party ever did.
The Nazis were responsible for the deaths of ten to twelve million people. Socialists don't even come close to that.
Capitalism is responsible for the deaths of far more people even than that.
Come fucking on.
wut, a person can totally hate the nazi party AS WELL as every communist, socialist and marxist (and related) movements too.
https://www.statista.com/chart/2402.....s-nazi-regime/
while communism (and all the other related -isms) has been the cause of up to 148 million, although the generally accepted number is closer to 100 million in the last century or so.
https://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/COM.ART.HTM
Fascism is a strictly right wing ideoogy.
And you STILL haven't addressed my points.
no it isn't, leftists can be fascists as well https://youtu.be/5Ko01NbCLMc
and
https://open.mitchellhamline.edu/cg.....p;context=wmlr
in many cases, things aren't black and white as you think they are.
Absolutely no one believes that, and you'll find no reputable source to confirm it.
Yet more bogus sources.
And you're STILL dodging my points.
Can't you do better than this?
that you'll listen to.
> no reputable source to confirm it.
that you'll accept.
>And you're STILL dodging my points
which have no basis in reality, truth or fact.
>Can't you do better than this?
its fun watching you flail around tryin' ta convince people your lies.
The hell they don't. You're just dodging again.
Right.
It's strictly a top down system of government, as opposed to leftist or democratic ideologies, which are bottom up or middle out.
you refuse to hear any opposing ideas, you attack any sources that aren't curated by your side and you change definitions when it suits your arguments.
i know for a fact that the left wing can be fascist because i LIVE in a state where it flourishes, Washington state.
one party rule, top down, heavily authoritarian.
You must be insane.
I heard your ridiculous ideas. I disagree with them. You literally can't come up with anything but obscure and/or notoriously right wing sources to back up your ridiculous assertions. Why in hell would I accept them?
I don't "Change definitions when it suits my arguments". I'm extremely consistent with them.
The people of Washington voted for that government. Just because poor, poor you doesn't like it by no means makes it fascist.
What a complete crock of shit.
you are objectively wrong, do better.
>The people of Washington voted for that government
no they didn't, king county (along with tacoma washington) did. its fascist due to it being an one party control.
>I'm extremely consistent with them.
except when it comes to definitions such as "fascism"
Tough shit. That's how democracy works. That doesn't make it fascist. Guess you oughta move to Texas or Florida, then.
Wrong. I've been 100% consistent. You're the one who insists on distorting its meaning.
the "natives" lost the land through commerce and conquest. and they lost in combat due to having inferior weapons and tactics.
but there was no weaponized flu or small pox, germ theory wasn't invented until mid-19th century. well over a couple of centuries AFTER the first landings.
>Colonizer take
you do know "colonization", conquest, wars, slavery, etc has been going on since humanity has existed right?
not sayin' its right, though. also, don't forget who ended the slave trade in the western countries, including the slave trade that was favored by "native americans".
Here’s a list of "Native American" tribes that sided with the Confederate States during the U.S. Civil War:
Cherokee (faction under Stand Watie)
Choctaw
Chickasaw
Creek (faction)
Seminole (faction)
Caddo
Osage (faction)
Comanche (some bands)
Kiowa (some bands)
Though we still have a long list of Native American tribes who sided with the British during the Revolutionary War simply because they didn't trust the settlers to keep to the treaties they'd made https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ameri.....tive_Americans
if one group has bows and tomahawks and the other group has guns, the ones with the better gear wins (not counting ambushes and other trickery, which are valid in battle). this is not an insult to either side, its just basic facts.
> im sure there are well armed folks who would discuss that with you face to face
no, not really. shooting a person over what they say makes you the bad guy in any situation.
-Don't bother answering that. I already know the answer.
noun
a political philosophy that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
a fascist is a follower of a political philosophy characterized by authoritarian views and a strong central government — and no tolerance for opposing opinions.
maybe you should start learning what words mean before using them.
That's exactly what Drumpf is engaging in. I know exactly what it means.
wrong, try again. there is gonna be no end of this until you stop pushing your lies.
and against all logic you continue to deny it.
Fascist.
Try looking up more definitions. You'll find many differences between them.
>Wow are you suggesting we are not human
i said
>if one group has bows and tomahawks and the other group has guns, the ones with the better gear wins
that is precisely NOT what i typed. there was NOTHING about people not being human.
i mean, if you're gonna be wrong you might as well be direct about it.
yeah bad mood...
best bud died tonight and your dumb ass is a target.
Many police departments have new recruits ride along with a senior cop who sits back and evaluates the rookie’s performance. If the senior cop happens to be a bigot he expects the rookie to brutalize minorities he doesn’t like, and gives him a poor grade if he doesn’t. The rookie can try to report his senior to internal affairs, but they’re unlikely to take him seriously since he’s not one of the good ole boys.
And that’s not even getting into things like LA County’s deputy gangs, who get tattoos to celebrate their first kills.
Or just simple corruption
If you admit that you're doing this deliberately just to torture people, well, torture is illegal. Therefore, anyone who has been put through the prison system was tortured, and thus, eligible for compensation.
Because if they ever admit fault, they will be subject to HUGE losses by tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of victims.
This is why auto makers never admit to being at fault for anything, and instead, always agree to a recall in return for immunity. They know they did a bad thing? They knew it was bad before it ever left the factory! But retooling the system to correct the problem is very expensive, and doing a recall is even more expensive.
So they just keep doing it and hoping that nobody ever catches them doing the bad thing. And if they do get caught, they pay lawyers oodles of money to just keep DARVOing and Sludging things until they have no other choice.
So how bad could it be?
Well. Did you know that treaties with sovereign governments are treated as corporate law, and not civil or criminal law? And that violating a treaty is precisely the same as violating the terms of a corporate contract?
What happens if you violate the terms of a corporate contract?
Everything you got out of the contract is supposed to be returned to the other party, right? Money, property, equipment, stock, documents; whatever you got out of it. Along with penalties and compensation, of course.
So...
Who does the United States of America have a whole metric fuck-ton of treaties with, that they have violated the terms of over the last 350 years?
Yeeeeeaaaaaah.
If you just give that a eeeeenie-weenie teeny-tiny bit of thought, you can see how a whole lot of people have one Hell of a huge interest in making sure nobody ever tries to collect on that.
And what's the easiest way to ensure you would have no choice but to pay up?
Admit fault, of course!
So there you have it.
And perhaps the amount needed to do the legal, ethical thing in this US prison complex case, could very well be cheaper than trying to deal with all the lawsuits. Guess the promise of easy money, overrides whatever sense and logic they have.
Kinda like how regular maintenance of stuff, is usually more pragmatic than neglecting stuff, and then having to buy newer and costlier stuff when the former breaks down.
Take the PM M1910 machine gun, being used in Ukraine right now. A Slavic cousin of the British Vickers, the German MG08 and the American M1917. All can claim ancestry to Hiram Maxim's brain child, the Maxim Gun.
The Slavic machine gun works wonders for those Cossack warriors, so long as there's plenty of water available, like the snow during winter time. Try not to drink the tea brewed using the weapon though, I hear it tastes like machine oil and cordite.
I am absofuckinglutly stealing this!
The old story of the boy who cried wolf holds true. Bob has faked this condition 7x already and it isn't in his medical file. What are the odds he suddenly has it?
It took a lot of effort to convince them that I wasn't just faking the pain and to send me to have contrast imaging. Once they realized that I was on death's door, they gave me morphine (which barely took the edge off) and wheeled me right into the OR. Had I gone home again, I wouldn't be here right now.
At the time I was pretty pissed, but now that I think about how many drug addicts and hypochondriacs we have out there, it makes more sense why they didn't take me seriously. They probably deal with that situation 20 times a day and it turns out to be nothing.
You didn’t read the post, about the addict….
“Usually it's drug seeking behavior“
But I’ve seen enough of your posts to know you support a dependent society, so it shouldn’t surprise me that you think druggies in jail are the victims.
And people in jail ARE almost always victims of bad treatment and/or being ignored by society.
Your false virtue signaling and manufactured outrage is ridiculous.
And I'm sure there are sadists involved, but most of the people maintaining the present shitty status quo aren't even that. It's just greed, stupidity, pettiness, with just enough fear and hate as a toxic leavening.
The last time I was in traffic court, it started off with a "non-trial processing" thing where we were given every opportunity to simply pay the fine and move on... it was a literal shakedown. And there were a few other people before me who had some very interesting stories to tell the judge. My "favorite" was the gentleman who had to explain why he was having difficulty in making his monthly payments on his fines.
His explanation: He kept getting hired, getting his first paycheck... then his new employer would learn he had a felony conviction and would fire him on the spot. So he LITERALLY had to devote his lifestyle to finding new jobs, just to get one paycheck at a time.
He was TRYING to be a law abiding citizen... but the system is deliberately designed to actively do everything possible to send him BACK to prison... for THIS: https://news.uchicago.edu/story/us-.....w-report-finds
The extremely rare non bad faith or just objectively wrong comment from wolly!
ill admit i dont think prisons should exist anymore. half of the people in jail need a sanitarium not a prison. the other half should line the bottom of a trench.
most of them would be happy functional members of society in a group.home.or assisted living facility where they had a curfew, regular drug tests, ans someone to ensure they take their meds
Their overdose and AIDS rates have dropped off a cliff since then.
...
Wow.
It's a particularly cruel, ignorant, and misguided opinion.
People like him always want to blame the victim.
Do you even know what commissary is?
Or for that matter what a colostomy bag is?
People associate prison with 'people who deserve to be mistreated for some past crime or mistake.' They imagine that, if you ended up in jail, you MUST have been guilty, and therefore what you get is what you deserve. And prison is meant to be a punishment, so what you get and deserve is the worst of everything.
Yeah, it's not true, and yeah, people sometimes are wrongfully convicted and so on. But no one cares. I feel like there's a large dollop of the good ol' human concept of 'Well, it's not happening to ME, so...' in there as well.
As so it also comes down to healthcare. "Who cares if some CRIMINAL isn't getting their meds on time, right?! ...Oops, this person just died... Well they probably DESERVED it...! Just in for an unpaid traffic ticket, huh? ...hmm. Well, they shouldn't have broken the LAW! Glad it wasn't me though..." That kind of thing.
It's the same as how in almost all cases, people who go to jail supposedly deserve to get raped. I like to think rape is pretty damn horrible, but most people just kinda assume it happens and the one getting raped, no matter their crime that landed them in jail, deserves to get raped. In some cases, people will gleefully declare people going to jail deserve to be murdered by other inmates with the same callous disdain. ...So why would the people assigned to watch over these wastes of flesh think any different?
Do I agree with any of that? Kinda sorta. Some people who have done the absolute worst things they could before being sent to jail should have the worst of times while in there. But at the same time, if you're just gonna kill them, just... do it. Don't waste time pretending putting them in a cage with a murderer skilled in making shivs out of toilet paper, or some rapist who hasn't been close to another living thing in decades was going to have any other end result. The problem comes when someone who didn't really do anything that serious, like selling weed to survive in a world where getting a job is nearly impossible for them ends up in the same position as someone who ruined thousands of people's lives or actively raped children, locked in a building with people who are just waiting for someone to abuse... and I'm not talking about the inmates.
...and then there's the (non-existent) maternal care issue.
There needs to be a better system.
The preposterous amount of money spent on policing and the carceral system would be much more well spent upstream giving people housing, free health care, quality education, and good jobs rather than just abusing people and locking them up.
Yes, if you need a medication for your blood pressure, or maybe even your mental instability,…. Cool.
Yes you should be provided with that.
You think you need Botox or gender surgery to uphold your delusions of your personal identity?
Well you shouldn’t have broken the law, gotten arrested and just paid for them yourself.
Again, it’s punishment for crimes against humanity, and not an all inclusive resort stay.
I’m on meds for my BP,… but it’s no guarantee I won’t drop dead tomorrow,… and I’m not even in a prison!
Get over yourselves!
And being trans is NOT a delusion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ckg9ZvG9y8
They’re in JAIL for committing a crime, robbery, assault, sexual assault, DUI, whatever.
They committed a CRIME, and nothing about them believing there gender is other than what it physically is excuses those CRIMES.
And no, elective gender affirming care or lack there of will not kill anyone.
And no, I do not believe CRIMINALS in JAIL should have access to ELECTIVE medical care.
Being trans is not about "Believing there gender is other than what it physically is". It's about bringing their body into harmony with what their gender ACTUALLY is. It can save lives.
That should be a basic human right no matter where somebody is.
A 10 year sentance shouldn't ACTULLY mean 10 years w/ anal rape and maybe your death (amongst many other barbaric conditions)
