I don't remember *exactly* but for example, I remember a white couple were arrested for trashing a police car, when at first it was being attributed to the black people protesting nearby? There were several other cases like that too during that time too; people just going out and doing whatever because they knew the black people protesting could be used as a cover... or they wanted to pin it on the blacks, then claim it was their intention all along.

If you do some searches on the event, there is a lot of records of poplice brutality during the events as well, and lets be fair... these people were protesting a black man being killed by police. You really can't expect them to just stand there and be the next one can you?

Where I live, if one is a social democrat, they can vote Social Democrats (it's one of the larger parties). There's a Left Alliance for more extreme leftists (small and factionated), and for moderate old geezers who just want to save the world there's Greens. Center and right also have several flavors to choose. I'm not into religion or ideologies myself and vote whoever is streering in direction which to me seems correct at the time.

As someone who grew up in the late '80s and the '90s I want a return to that relatively civil era. Was there a lot of teasing and insults thrown around? Yes. However, I went to high school in the late '90s and people tolerated each other despite differences. Race didn't matter so much, neither did religion. We had openly gay and bi students who didn't get harassed other than some teasing and even then they were generally left alone. I openly wrote furry fiction back then and nobody even batted an eye. People generally had thicker skins then, and that whole 'words are violence' concept I mentioned would be completely laughed at and mocked.

Granted, I think evangelists were less tolerant than the general public in those days and they were very pushy about religion. As someone who grew up secular and has no interest in Abrahamic religions these days it was annoying and aggravating to get cornered walking home by people asking me "Have you been saved?" That's the religious revival I hope doesn't reawaken, but I think that recent events will probably spark some kind of religious revival in this country.
