Sadly, writer-oriented software on *nix pretty much boils down to wordgrinder, an office suite, cobbling together something from whatever you can find (and hope it all continues working with updates), or writing your own. I use a set of applications on an old Mac simply because, even after almost 25 years of using Linux in some way, I can't find anything that compares to those tools.
