Primitive War - For all you dino fans.
"Primitive War" is by the same guy who did "Occupation" and "Occupation: Rainfall", making this the third movie of his I've seen. Both of those paid too much attention to spectacle rather than plot, characters or dialogue, thinking bombast and massive CGI explosions were a replacement for a coherent storyline and memorable characters
Despite being over two hours long, this film about a team of soldiers getting sent out into the jungle to find the OTHER team of soldiers that have mysteriously disappeared, is MUCH tighter in its storytelling, with more time spent giving our hapless grunts character development and actually decent lines before most of them get eaten by adorably fuzzy little toothy killing machines. It drips with that Vietnam-era movie vibe, from the bitching and moaning of our cast, to the oppressive, rain soaked jungle to the soundtrack full of songs you've heard in other movies like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and the like.
So what about the dinosaurs themselves? Is the dinosaur CGI any good?
Ehhhhhh....It's serviceable. In some places it works really well. In others? Not so much. But the movie's got solid action scenes, a couple of genuinely great kills, and oodles of CGI blood on offer. If you like your Vietnam war movies with a side of fluffy reptile schlock, you should check this out.

FA+

I tend to be forgiving on low-budget dinosaur movies because for one, I am easily entertained, and two, I feel they're often a passion project with the crew.
Amazing that it rumored to have only cost $7 million to make.
Unfortunately, to see the entire segment, you need to subscribe to their website.
Spoiler warning, though they don't really give much away.
