October 2025 Writing Journal: Editor's Block
2 days ago
Hmmm, I wonder if that actually is a real thing, "Editor's Block"? Because fuck me, I've just been going crazy with writing new stuff, but the editing has been... well uh... not great lol
At least October as a month overall was FAR BETTER than September. For once there were absolutely zero major life events of crises or illnesses or anything like that which could interrupt my focus. The result was, surprisingly, that I actually met MOST of my writing goals despite the insanely lofty bar I set.

Ok, well maybe I didn't hit "MOST" of my writing goals. Really, I just met the wordcount and some secondaries. But still, holy crap, a 50K in October of all months is still pretty freakin' impressive I think! It's one of those months where I get absolutely no extra days off from work outside of the usual weekends, so to hit that goal I basically need to write 12,500 words every weekend. And lemme tell you, doing that for an entire month without a single day of rest is more than a little mentally grueling. I formally declare Off-Brand Catch-Up FicWriMo a total success! 🥳🎉🎊
Now do I wish I could have spread that 50K out across more of my stories than just Tellurium Chains? Sure of course, I'm starting to feel bad about the three comms sitting untouched in my queue again for sure. But hey, this ain't nothin' new for me. I can still remember back when I started tracking my own writing and went whole years basically only working on COTP and nothing else while people waited for literal YEARS for their comms. Perhaps some pure obsessive energy was what I needed to focus me and keep me on task working on writing during a full-work month like October? Besides, hitting a cool 50K means that I beat my regular quota by 22,660 words! Taking that out of the total deficit of 29,804 words from last month means that my deficit how now shrank down to a mere 7,144 words!
Now I'd say that's well within feasible reach to catch up on in time by the end of the year! In fact, if I decide to go for the traditional November FicWriMo, I'll fully demolish the entire deficit and turn it around into a surplus instead! Hell, it would even put me within shooting distance of my stretch goal for the year, if I managed to harness all my time off in both November and December! So let's lay that out next!
DECEMBER 2025 WRITING GOALS
Ok, this time I'm gonna actually finish a comm story and I mean it! In fact, fuck it! I'm gonna try for a twofer!
-PRIMARY OBJECTIVES-
-Kimíl's New Look: Expected 12,000 words
-Untitled Comm for lateinshowing: Expected 15,000 words
-50K FicWriMo Chunk of "Blightwrath": Expected 50,000 words
-SECONDARY OBJECTIVES-
-Crossing of the Paths - Book 2: Darkness & Light - Chunk 7: ANY wordcount
-Editing of Tellurium Chains - Chunk 2: Now 24,387 words to edit
-Editing of Tellurium Chains - Chunk 3: 35,826 words to edit
-Editing of Mutagen Origins Chunk 4: 17,782 words to edit
-Editing of Arina is All Chunk 12: 26,895 words to edit
-Editing of Crossing of the Paths - Book 2: Darkness & Light - Chunk 6: 34,715 words to edit
Total Expected Writing Wordcount for December 2025: 50,000-77,000 words
Total Expected Editing Wordcount for October 2025: 139,605 words 😱
So uh, yeah. Yikes. If FA allowed embedding images in journals I'd be using that one gif of Kent Brockman from the Simpsons sweating and nervously tugging at his collar while going "Yuh-oh!"
That editing queue is REALLY getting out of hand now. Like, in a genuinely scary way. Like an "I'm not sure I can actually edit all of this before the end of the year" way. At least not on top of writing another WriMo 50K...
Guh, but come on now Lightest, let's get it together! I've done this before! Look back at July 2023, I wrote 52,194 words AND edited 122,040 words all in the same month! I mean... sure maybe that was a statistical outlier that shouldn't really be counted as part of the norm, but fuck it! The only way to transform an outlier into a repeating data point is to JUST GO FOR IT!
Fuck yeah, let's do it!
Heh it helps that I'm writing this journal slightly late, on November 2nd, two days deep into this FicWriMo already, and I already know I met my daily goals for this opening weekend quite easily. I also know I actually have three extra days off of work this month on top of my weekends, which will give me a decisive advantage over October, if the life events can manage to stay away again this month. So fuck it, we ball!
This year I decided to take a break from Granddaughters of Din too, you might have noticed. I decided to pick up a new project that's been bouncing around inside of my brain for several years now. Granddaughters was beginning to feel painfully difficult to write because of how rigid my dates and outline and planning and outlining were getting, and Blightwrath will be far more freeform and less mentally taxing by comparison. And yes, before you ask, Blightwrath does indeed also involve Gerudos too, lol. But this time... they get to be lewd!
Overall though I'm excited! If I can get a solid 77K of new words and a 139K of editing, that'll be one hell of an accomplishment! Cross your fingers for me dear readers, and send me your energy like you would to Goku for a spirit bomb! I got this!
