These little mountain towns are so strange. The only thing that seems to be open during the day is the small, three isle ‘supermarket’. That closes at 5:30PM, about half an hour before all the restaurants open.
That’s right. The restaurants don’t open until 6PM. I had to resort to oatmeal again this morning. And tuna sandwiches for lunch. I don’t think me and this roughin’ it stuff will be friends for much longer.
Today was great though. We had the sandwiches at the Mt. Kosciuszko lookout. That’s right! We made it to a spot that let you see the highest point in Australia. Yeah, we could have hiked it. but we were already well above the tree line and having a hell of a time breathing. We had sammiches and bananas though, while we looked at the summit. If we hadn’t gotten such a late start, we could have gone for the summit, but the only running ski lift closed at 4PM. Just like everything else in these mountain towns.
Weird.
After we got back home, we pigged out on stew. Screw waiting until 6PM to get dinner. It was nice not to be eating some pub food for once as well. That shit’ll kill ya.
You gotta take a day off from it at least.

Have you met any interesting people on your travels?
Australia is full of interesting people. They like to pick on Americans in the small country towns. I always bite back, but Riff gets himself all whimpery. Poor pup. *grins* I'll protect him though.
